BONDIR RESTAURANT is located in a residential neighborhood in the center of Cambridge which is known for it's sense of community &pride in it's diversity-a neighborhood filled with murals, parks, and public gardens.
OUR CUISINE is based on a simple premise: The ingredients we use are a story about the people who produce them. The most expressive ingredients are the freshest, coming from the ocean or the field, directly to our door. Relationships - cultivated over the years through time spent with foragers, fishermen, farmers, ranchers - color the daily menu.
OUR SERVICE is the most important aspect of our job. We want to create a personalized evening for each guest.
Great food and service. Recommended!
Nice place but looks tired and not too much fun to be. No hard liquor so only wine and beer. Food was ok far from great. For this amount of money Boston offer way better restaurants
The food itself was incredible, small venue, intimate. Loved the decor and to top it off the waiter was engaging and funny. 2000% would recommend to friend or unsolicited to a stranger.
Small establishment with great ambiance, unique food, and good service. Wine list is limited. Price is very reasonable.
What a delicious find in Cambridge! Every course of the prix fix menu was not only clever, it was delicious. Definitely consider adding the wine flight: I had never had Vermont Ice Cider and it was a treat.
A wonderful evening. Beautifully presented and delicious dinner. Overall one of the best options in Boston. Lovely small and intimate dining room. An amazing experience. Congratulations to the chef.
What a lovely evening! Chef Bond went above and beyond accommodating my son in-laws allergies and food sensitivities. He communicated with beforehand with him so that he could also enjoy his delicacies. The menu was inventive, “scrummy”, and beautifully plated, the wait staff was attentive and answered our questions about the unique menu. It was a wonderful night in celebration of our daughters birthday. Bondir is on our short list of our favorite restaurants! Thank you chef Bond and staff!
As usual, perfect
Jason is The most humble human you can imagine. His food is exceptional because he reinvented himself everyday
Thank you for your visit Bertil. So great to cook for you. Come back soon! J
Phenomenal. Exquisitely crafted, understated, and memorable.
I love Bondir, always have, always will. I love how authentic they have remained to being "farm-to-table" and how even despite their popularity, have not expanded or changed their outlook and ambiance requisites, making it still one of the most quiet/romantic/enjoyable places to dine in a city that is notoriously too loud all the time...you can hear yourself talk!! I love how the menu is uploaded same day and the only choice you have to even think remotely about making is what is to drink. Staff are super friendly/knowledgeable and even Chef Bond came out to the dining room towards the end of the night to check in on the ebb and flow of Saturday. I love this place! Never change.
Thank you very much for your review. I'm thrilled to read that you enjoyed your time at Bondir. Visti us again soon! J
We've been here twice and were blown away both times. The chef makes the fixed menu each night, but is still accommodating to those with restrictions or if there is something on there you don't like. The food is incredible. All courses are amazing and the main course is always the show stopper. Highly recommend for special occasions.
We had an amazing experience @ Bondir . First off when I made the reservation I made sure to let the restaurant know that my mother is sensitive to salt . When we first sat down the server made sure to acknowledge my mothers salt sensitivity. And then when one of the dishes came out there was some sort of sort of a salty soy sauce on the bottom the kitchen made sure to not have it on the plate. So when you go to Bondir it’s a prefix menu. Meaning what you see is what you get. They must not have a have a hard liquor license so when My mum and I went to order our usual cosmopolitans which they couldn’t make alas we had a lovely red wine . Not exactly a hardship. Each of the 5 courses were beautifully executed. Each bite was full of different tastes and textures and well balanced. I try not to eat bread when I go out, or at home, but alas I succumbed when I smelled the two delicious fresh homemade breads arrived @ the table . My only minor complaints is with the desserts. We ordered a chocolate pot de Creme with a lot of adjectives on top. Unfortunately to our taste buds the chocolate mousse was just way way way too sweet. It would have been enjoyable to eat ( to the 4 of us) if the dish was way less sweet . The other dessert offered on the menu is a poppyseed tart filled with berries and some two scoops of delicious ice cream on top. The tart itself was delicious. Perfectly cooked. But the problem was that the macerated berries were just that. So when you cut into the tart you couldn’t really eat it as a tart Because all the juices ran out. So you had to figure out how to eat the crust and the berries and the ice cream. So that was a bit of a challenge for us. Overall we really had a fantastic birthday celebration. From the minute we entered to the minute we left. Kudos to Bondir.
Please go to Bondir. It's a classic and it's amazing. Like no other restaurant in the greater Boston area.
Nothing really "popped" except for the wrapped turnip. Maybe it was because it was a Vegan dinner? But that fact got me really excited as I believe you have get that much more creative considering you're not using things such as butter. Don't mind paying extra for good food but really felt that value of meal did not match price tag.
Really enjoyed the cabbage dish all around!
Wrapped turnip was great as well. Expecting the turnip to have a fairly neutral flavor but was met with flavor.
A couple pieces of feedback:
Polenta tasted bland.
Pineapple dish - still had plastic tag attached to pineapple top but we know mistakes happen! Spoons were served with the dish and made it extremely difficult to cut any portion of the pineapple slices. Felt like pineapple had more core than meat.
Food was good, but not excellent. Server was very pleasant and did a good job explaining every dish, however some had much better execution than others. Was a pleasant meal, but was not a good, or great meal. Not worth a $350 price tag
For prixe fixe meal, which I generally don't like, it was very good. I didn't leave stuffed or hungry. The wine pairing was very enjoyable but I could have used another few sips of each pour. They were very accommodating and informed regarding dietary restrictions and allergies. The ambiance was warm and comfortable even if the bill was a tad bit steep.
Incredible place! We always go back to Bondir
Great five course dining experience accompanied by outstanding service
Exceptional service, very knowledgeable. The food quality is also very good, innovative combinations, found some inspirations about matching different products.
The most incredible dining experience I have ever had - every last detail was perfection. Chef Bond is a genius!! My husband and I have officially adopted Bondir as our new 'special celebration' restaurant.
The food was incredible. Be sure to do the wine pairing.
Warm and welcoming, service staff just glided in with the various courses, excellently timed and served with an explanation of the dish and a smile. A really lovely dining experience.
Had a delayed Valentine's Day dinner at Bondir. We enjoyed a nice fixed price 5 course meal. The preparation and freshness of the food was first-rate. The service was attentive and unobtrusive. The pacing of the first few course were a little fast for our tastes, but that is minor point. The only caution I have is that there is a single menu for each evening and there are (very) limited choice. You are getting a tasting menu based on what the chef decides to serve that day. My fiance and I are adventurous eaters and enjoy the surprise of new and interesting foods. If you like boneless chicken with a potato or in a Caesar salad this is NOT your place.
Wonderful food, beautifully prepared and presented
Bondir is always a marvelous experience. The meals are unique and delicious, the service and ambiance are welcoming and friendly. Enjoy the fantastic adventure in a cozy space!
A great venue for a leisurely catch up dinner with an old friend. It would also be great for date night.
Unbelievable. The service was thoughtful and attentive. They placed the prix fixe menus on the table, but noticing in my profile that I prefer vegan, they had preset a special vegan menu for me. Wow. And the food combinations were extraordinary - flavors, textures — not only tasty in a purely sensual way but also intriguing intellectually. Wine pairings also outstanding. This was a special dinner to celebrate a major life achievement. I will remember it my whole life as a wonderful, flawless evening. Thanks.
Wonderful food sourced by a chef who cares about the origin of the ingredients as much as the quality of the final dish. The restaurant space is intimate with a fireplace that both helps heat the dining room as well as cook the food. The menu changes frequently, so we will certainly come back to see what’s new.
My husband and I had really been looking forward to dinner- this restaurant was on our “must visit” for years! The food was very bland and underwhelming- we honestly only enjoyed the bread, sorbet, and maybe the dessert. Each dish felt like it was trying too hard but didn’t deliver real flavor
Great ambiance, super intimate and cozy, but the food was not worth the price. I’ve definitely had better meals for less money.
Dinner at Bondir is an experience I encourage everybody to try at least once. It's a cozy atmosphere, a set menu and absolutely fabulous. The food looks every bit as delicious as it tastes and is thoughtfully and beautifully prepared. Optional wine pairings are on point. Service is outstanding. Highly recommended for sure.
Excellent, but still disappointing. I'm used to something fresh and different from here and didn't really get that this time. The dessert was incredibly ordinary. Nothing was bad, but nothing was exciting. This place is usually awesome, so they've set the bar high and this time they just didn't make it.
They had a lovely hiramasa over pickled tomato that we are still raving about three days later. The wine pairing was outstanding. This is the kind of place where you think “we could go try something new ...but it’s so good every time and they’re always innovating, why would we go anywhere else?”
I'd heard of this place from a friend, and had tried several times to get a reservation. The trick was to wait until a Sunday night of a holiday weekend (Thanksgiving).
The food and service were top notch. My favorite of the 5 courses was the baked squash with mackerel. Never would have thought I'd like mackerel. Each component was unusual and contributed to the whole. It was a quiet night, and we had all the server's attention. She knew much more than I would have expected about how each item was created. The 6 of us at my birthday celebration had a wonderful evening.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Only (slight) complaint is that the noise level can go up quite a bit when the restaurant is full, but that's to be expected. This is a great restaurant.
This was our second visit to Bondir, and it was as wonderful as the first. The menu is creative and really interesting. The service is impeccable. We will definitely return. (we have not tried the wine parings, maybe next time)
Wow. I love the fact that the chef managed to produce interesting and tasty food combinations without going overboard on weird presentations (foam, deconstructed everything, etc.). Dinner seemed like something that was achievable in an ordinary kitchen without a ton of specialized equipment. And the tiny dessert was over-the-top amazing - chocolate - star anise pot de creme. Unreal how good that was. A++ would eat again.
I love the concept of this restaurant! It's wonderful not to have to choose your food, and every course feels like an adventure. The dining room is intimate and elegant without being formal, and the staff were attentive and knowledgeable. My only criticism, and I guess it's a big one, is that the food, while imaginative and tasty, wasn't amazing, as I sometimes experience when I go out to a really good restaurant. I would definitely return, as the menu changes regularly and I'm a fan of the concept and commitment to locally sourced food.
Our dinner at Bondir was incredible as always. The service is the best we have experienced in the Boston area with long-term staff members who clearly love what they do and enjoy tailoring the experiences of their guests. The ambience is quiet and cozy with warm music playing in the background and soft lighting perfect for date night or a dinner with friends where you’d like to have a real conversation. Chef Bond’s dishes are creative and always seasonal and local and the flavors and foods are surprising and delightful. The wine pairing is exceptional and reasonably priced. Kate and Erin are wonderful and make you feel special as a guest while also delivering a seamless dining experience where you never feel interrupted but always feel well taken care of. If you’d like a fabulous dinner, tailored to your dietary needs and emphasizing a great seasonal tasting menu of local food, with an unforgettable experience - Bondir is the restaurant for you!
