Absolutely fantastic in every way.
Stunning food, lovely wine list and friendly knowledgeable service. Every course was delicious!
When our cab didn’t turn up even went above and beyond to help us get back to our hotel.
If you are in Boston you MUST make sure this place is on your list for dinner.
I booked Bondir for a fancy dinner with my husband. We were both very disappointed with our meal as the courses were tiny without complex flavors or ingredients. Two of the 5 courses were miso flavored. One course was 2 mussels (one of mine was sandy) on a piece of squash with a tiny, translucent piece of prosciutto. The wine pairing pours were very stingy. My husband put it best when afterward he said, "That was the worst expensive meal ever." If we spent 1/3 of the price it still wouldn't have been worth it. Very disappointing.
I am sorry to read that you were disappointed in your meal. I portion each course to give an amount that, at the end of the meal, most people feel comfortable with. The flavors I use are subtle, agreed. For the wine pairings, we pour 3 ounces for the three savory courses, and 2 ounces for dessert, so not to over-serve. I encourage anyone to let us know if they are not happy with any part of their meal. Please call me if we can discuss taking care of you in the future. -Jason
I’ve been to Bondir several times over the years, and, like their amazing selection of very aged spirits, it’s gotten even better over time. The hospitality is exceptional. The food never disappoints, and is always creative and seasonal. So many restaurants have come and go in recent years, and it’s nice to know Bond is still making incredible food. When in doubt, for a beautiful dinner in a quiet atmosphere, you can’t go wrong. And the price is extremely reasonable for what you get. This is definitely what I’d call “Cambridge fancy”-it’s fine dining, but cozy and unpretentious, not a place that’s overly opulent or ostentatious for the expense account crowd. It’s for people who love food, period.
Great food, great ambiance, great wait staff and truly great wines!
It was a very nice dinner. The courses were well prepared with excellent textures and flavors. Our server was helpful and unobtrusive. We all enjoyed the experience and plan to return.
Hole in the wall meets fine dining.
Service was probably the best I've ever had at a restaurant anywhere. Daily set menus, but the chef was hospitable and friendly enough to accommodate 3 different dietary restrictions. If there's a table available do not hesitate, just book and enjoy!
Quaint, thoughtful neighborhood restaurant with to die for delicious food, like edible art, and delightful, easy-going but knowledgable, unobtrusive staff. Went for our 15 year anniversary and truly enjoyed it.
This a great restaurant for a romantic anniversary dinner. It's expensive but not overpriced.
It was delicious as always and the atmosphere was comfortable and friendly and just really really enjoyable.
Very charming , quaint and tasty. Tables are very close together, but we felt very well taken care of. Everything was delicious, except one sauce a bit too smoky - would go back - lovely spot for 5 course tasting menu.
Bondir has fabulous food. The only issue is very limited choice. However, the chef was willing to prepare a perfectly cooked steak when we ate there last as an option. Also our waitstaff said that the chef is willing to do that especially given notice.
Each course was superb! Perfectly crafted food and super delicious. A great choice for a special occasion.
Fantastic and incredibly creative use of fresh ingredients. Chef came out at end of entre and served crispy piglet skin bits. Yum.
The new five course menu is carefully crafted and exhibits great talent. The wine pairings are thoughtful. Highly recommended
I love Bondir! Their constantly changing tasting menu is always delicious and the team is a joy. Service is impeccable and the chef is really attentive.
On the food — Their food is outstanding and the menu is based on what ingredients they have to work with that day. Not having standard menu items means that it’s always a new adventure for the diner, but also entails a good bit of risk. The quality of food they keep, while changing ingredients so frequently is really impressive.
On the service — The small team makes you feel really comfortable and well cared for. I have taken a number of people with significant dietary restrictions here and they’ve always adjusted the menu to fit their needs. Not just removed items from dishes, but replaced them with an entirely with a different ingredient and reworked the dish to make sure they had a great meal.
On the space — I firmly believe that it’s the cutest restaurant in the Boston area. It’s a tiny little restaurant with a working fireplace, exposed brick, and a lovely mix of decorations.
Overall, best bang for your buck tasting menu at a place with truly lovely people.
Warmly welcomed to small very cozy atmosphere. Perhaps 10 tables? Very French Countryside atmosphere. Prefix menu varies but the hostess did ask about any allergy or potential substitute options and was not at all upset when I asked to sub out the scallop item. (The bass was a great substitute!)
There is matching wine or a wine bottle list available and all were reasonable prices. I read some thought the portions were small but I really disagree: they were perfect for all the courses and the rich and varied flavors to really hit home.
i thought the food was great but the portions were way too small. For the price and what you get, while tasty, you should walk away feeling full and satisfied.
We come here for special occasions, as it's on the expensive side, but it's well worth it--the food is fantastic, service great, and the tiny space is peaceful and quiet.
Family and friends gathered for a vegan dinner, and feast it was! Each course was distinctive and delicious, not to mention beautiful. The service was perfect - checking in about our experience often enough but not hovering. The atmosphere was magical. Chef Jason Bond helped create a memorable dinner and evening for us.
Best meal I've ever had!
Holy toledo...ex chef, life long foodie, lived in NYC, London, Hong Kong , Chicago, Mexico City so I know a little about food and this was one of the best I have ever had. It's a small, initimate, inventive, knock-your-eyes-out good experience. The food is marvelous and the entire thing cocoons you in a couple of hours of wonderfulness. It is not presumptuous or ostentatious or full of itself. It is perfect. New rule for me is if I am in the Boston area I am going to Bondir
Bondir is a beautiful experience. This is a farm to table operation that is crafted with thought and great care. Highly recommended for a “special occasion” or a Tuesday night.
Beautiful food, very special and intimate dining experience that is worthy of special occasions (including celebrating the lobster!) and other seasonal gems.
Good food well served. Tonight dinner was lobster based. You never know what will be served. I prefer to know what’s on the menu.
A very special place for an outstanding meal--creative, beautiful and delicious.
Awesome food and great room. Highly recommend for special dining.
Great service, interesting food, beautiful presentation.
A truly enjoyable experience. Bondir is very small, perhaps only ten or so tables for two. The decor is understated upscale country farmhouse (not sure if that's a thing, but that's what it felt like). The service was impeccable. The noise level was low, but the restaurant was a bit slow when we were there - not sure what it would be like with a full house.
The only choices are whether or not to do the wine pairing with the set menu (we did), and which of the two desserts (we did one of each). Presentation on the plate was attractive, thoughtful, and interesting, and every course was excellent. The wine pairings were good. I'd go back in a heartbeat and wouldn't change a single thing. Highly recommended.
I've been waiting to try Bondir for a long time. A friend's visit from the West Coast was the perfect impetus to finally make a reservation. Bondir did not disappoint. The evening was STUPENDOUS. We raved to each other the entire night, thru 5 exquisite courses. Bravo Bondir for a truly delightful evening and mouth-watering original selections. I couldn't be more pleased ... as you may gather. :-) 10 stars!
First visit....had been recommended. Total treat; Kate fabulous server, attentive without hovering. Jason’s food so very delicious and interesting. Herbs and flavors complex and yet familiar. Perfect amounts for each course. Basically one if the best meals I have ever tasted, eaten and experienced.
This place has some incredible qualities, not the least of which is the varying and uncommon breads made daily and of incredible flavor. The ambiance and service are also quite nice. Desserts and palate cleansers are standouts (the latter has no water in the various sorbets and is bursting with citrus). But, 2 of 3 times I've been here the meat portion (as opposed to the accompaniments) for the main course was not very good in my opinion and in that of my dinner companions.
Marc, Thank you very much for your return visits to Bondir, and thank you for letting us know about the part of the meal with which you were not happy. I am sorry we did not recognize your feeling at the time. I portion each ingredient to the appetite of our average diner. But I would encourage anyone, especially someone such as you who have been in multiple times, to let us know in the moment anything we can do for you. We're here for you and we'd be very happy to better know what you like.
Enjoyed a wonderful, creative meal with friends. I would have been back earlier had I realized the improvements in the parking situation. Bondir is a gem to be cherished.
Best fine dining tasting menu in the Boston area. We had wine pairings and thoroughly enjoyed every morsel. Glad to know someone knows how to produce this kind of experience. It’s very difficult to find elsewhere. Of course we are open to trying and enjoying everything and have no “allergies” or “food preferences “ so it makes for a wonderful meal when you can just sit down, relax and anticipate all of the goodness to come!
An amazing experience! So wonderfully awesome, from our warm welcome to our after dinner congnac. Our guests, new in town, were amazed. We were just feeling blessed. A perfect evening to slow down and really taste the brilliance of the night.
Fantastic evening. Everything was very well prepared and served very quickly.
What a pleasant surprise. Interesting, elegant, delicious. Nice wine list. Service was considered, thoughtful, and concise, no huffy puffy fluffiness. A real treat on all fronts.
Great food and ambience. Will go there again!
Bondir is our go-to spot for a special dinner. The food is always sublime, the service impeccable (Erin is a stand out), and the whole experience never is anything less than top shelf. As a small intimate restaurant with a prix fixe menu, it is like having a private chef who always delights you with creative, mouth watering dishes. We are unabashedly loyal fans.
Great food and service. Recommended!
Nice place but looks tired and not too much fun to be. No hard liquor so only wine and beer. Food was ok far from great. For this amount of money Boston offer way better restaurants
The food itself was incredible, small venue, intimate. Loved the decor and to top it off the waiter was engaging and funny. 2000% would recommend to friend or unsolicited to a stranger.
