My husband and I took a close friend out to dinner at Bondir to celebrate a special occasion. This was the perfect spot. It was a cold Nov night and we were greeted by a large wood burning fireplace that immediately made us feel cozy. We had a nice table in a corner where we could easily talk and hear each other (rare in restaurants these days). The food was very good and the wine pairing we did was spot on. Just a really nice place with a combination of coziness and elegance. I’d come here again to celebrate a special occasion!
Bondir is a refreshing change from the usual. Thoughtful, exquisite food. Wonderful service with just the right amount of attention. It is quiet and you can hold a conversation. And this time of year, the cozy, warm ambiance is so welcome. Just a wonderful experience.
Enjoyed the food quality and the atmosphere of the restaurant. We appreciated the fireplace waiting area. We will repeat.
I hate to give this plus such a great review because there are so few seats! Best kept secret on the Boston / Cambridge food scene.
We'd been meaning to get to Bondir for ages and weren't disappointed. I can't remember the last time that I had such a wonderfully thoughtful meal! The flavors were carefully assembled in combinations that I wanted to savor. A black sesame reduction under the starter was powerful and complex. The duck was perfectly crispy on the outside and succulent within. Creativity with local sourcing, too. All of this on a quiet Wednesday night!
We can't go back soon enough! Bravo!
A wonderful cozy country vibe, with fantastic food and wine parings to boot! We had a fantastic time.
Food was disappointing. Service good. I have been to some of the best restaurants in the world. Had high expectations for this. Didn't make the cut.
Our dining experience at Bondir was all-around fantastic. The service and presentation were awesome and the food was amazing. Chef took special care in avoiding certain ingredients due to food allergies - all making for a special and memorable dining experience. We will be back !!
We had a lovely evening at Bondir. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was just right. We will definitely be back frequently.
I am always amazed by the food at Bondir. Chef Jason's creations are always incredible. As my husband says, "It's food you enjoy with your eyes closed so nothing distracts you from the experience." And the staff are always well-informed about the dishes, and very friendly.
Best meal ever. Very intimate with special attention given to menu/ingredients and overall experience. Bondir is special -do not miss it!
Absolutely fantastic in every way.
Stunning food, lovely wine list and friendly knowledgeable service. Every course was delicious!
When our cab didn’t turn up even went above and beyond to help us get back to our hotel.
If you are in Boston you MUST make sure this place is on your list for dinner.
I booked Bondir for a fancy dinner with my husband. We were both very disappointed with our meal as the courses were tiny without complex flavors or ingredients. Two of the 5 courses were miso flavored. One course was 2 mussels (one of mine was sandy) on a piece of squash with a tiny, translucent piece of prosciutto. The wine pairing pours were very stingy. My husband put it best when afterward he said, "That was the worst expensive meal ever." If we spent 1/3 of the price it still wouldn't have been worth it. Very disappointing.
I am sorry to read that you were disappointed in your meal. I portion each course to give an amount that, at the end of the meal, most people feel comfortable with. The flavors I use are subtle, agreed. For the wine pairings, we pour 3 ounces for the three savory courses, and 2 ounces for dessert, so not to over-serve. I encourage anyone to let us know if they are not happy with any part of their meal. Please call me if we can discuss taking care of you in the future. -Jason
Great food, great ambiance, great wait staff and truly great wines!
I’ve been to Bondir several times over the years, and, like their amazing selection of very aged spirits, it’s gotten even better over time. The hospitality is exceptional. The food never disappoints, and is always creative and seasonal. So many restaurants have come and go in recent years, and it’s nice to know Bond is still making incredible food. When in doubt, for a beautiful dinner in a quiet atmosphere, you can’t go wrong. And the price is extremely reasonable for what you get. This is definitely what I’d call “Cambridge fancy”-it’s fine dining, but cozy and unpretentious, not a place that’s overly opulent or ostentatious for the expense account crowd. It’s for people who love food, period.
It was a very nice dinner. The courses were well prepared with excellent textures and flavors. Our server was helpful and unobtrusive. We all enjoyed the experience and plan to return.
Hole in the wall meets fine dining.
Service was probably the best I've ever had at a restaurant anywhere. Daily set menus, but the chef was hospitable and friendly enough to accommodate 3 different dietary restrictions. If there's a table available do not hesitate, just book and enjoy!
Quaint, thoughtful neighborhood restaurant with to die for delicious food, like edible art, and delightful, easy-going but knowledgable, unobtrusive staff. Went for our 15 year anniversary and truly enjoyed it.
This a great restaurant for a romantic anniversary dinner. It's expensive but not overpriced.
It was delicious as always and the atmosphere was comfortable and friendly and just really really enjoyable.
Very charming , quaint and tasty. Tables are very close together, but we felt very well taken care of. Everything was delicious, except one sauce a bit too smoky - would go back - lovely spot for 5 course tasting menu.
Bondir has fabulous food. The only issue is very limited choice. However, the chef was willing to prepare a perfectly cooked steak when we ate there last as an option. Also our waitstaff said that the chef is willing to do that especially given notice.
Each course was superb! Perfectly crafted food and super delicious. A great choice for a special occasion.
Fantastic and incredibly creative use of fresh ingredients. Chef came out at end of entre and served crispy piglet skin bits. Yum.
The new five course menu is carefully crafted and exhibits great talent. The wine pairings are thoughtful. Highly recommended
I love Bondir! Their constantly changing tasting menu is always delicious and the team is a joy. Service is impeccable and the chef is really attentive.
On the food — Their food is outstanding and the menu is based on what ingredients they have to work with that day. Not having standard menu items means that it’s always a new adventure for the diner, but also entails a good bit of risk. The quality of food they keep, while changing ingredients so frequently is really impressive.
On the service — The small team makes you feel really comfortable and well cared for. I have taken a number of people with significant dietary restrictions here and they’ve always adjusted the menu to fit their needs. Not just removed items from dishes, but replaced them with an entirely with a different ingredient and reworked the dish to make sure they had a great meal.
On the space — I firmly believe that it’s the cutest restaurant in the Boston area. It’s a tiny little restaurant with a working fireplace, exposed brick, and a lovely mix of decorations.
Overall, best bang for your buck tasting menu at a place with truly lovely people.
Warmly welcomed to small very cozy atmosphere. Perhaps 10 tables? Very French Countryside atmosphere. Prefix menu varies but the hostess did ask about any allergy or potential substitute options and was not at all upset when I asked to sub out the scallop item. (The bass was a great substitute!)
There is matching wine or a wine bottle list available and all were reasonable prices. I read some thought the portions were small but I really disagree: they were perfect for all the courses and the rich and varied flavors to really hit home.
i thought the food was great but the portions were way too small. For the price and what you get, while tasty, you should walk away feeling full and satisfied.
We come here for special occasions, as it's on the expensive side, but it's well worth it--the food is fantastic, service great, and the tiny space is peaceful and quiet.
Family and friends gathered for a vegan dinner, and feast it was! Each course was distinctive and delicious, not to mention beautiful. The service was perfect - checking in about our experience often enough but not hovering. The atmosphere was magical. Chef Jason Bond helped create a memorable dinner and evening for us.
Best meal I've ever had!
Holy toledo...ex chef, life long foodie, lived in NYC, London, Hong Kong , Chicago, Mexico City so I know a little about food and this was one of the best I have ever had. It's a small, initimate, inventive, knock-your-eyes-out good experience. The food is marvelous and the entire thing cocoons you in a couple of hours of wonderfulness. It is not presumptuous or ostentatious or full of itself. It is perfect. New rule for me is if I am in the Boston area I am going to Bondir
Bondir is a beautiful experience. This is a farm to table operation that is crafted with thought and great care. Highly recommended for a “special occasion” or a Tuesday night.
Beautiful food, very special and intimate dining experience that is worthy of special occasions (including celebrating the lobster!) and other seasonal gems.
Good food well served. Tonight dinner was lobster based. You never know what will be served. I prefer to know what’s on the menu.
A very special place for an outstanding meal--creative, beautiful and delicious.
Awesome food and great room. Highly recommend for special dining.
Great service, interesting food, beautiful presentation.
A truly enjoyable experience. Bondir is very small, perhaps only ten or so tables for two. The decor is understated upscale country farmhouse (not sure if that's a thing, but that's what it felt like). The service was impeccable. The noise level was low, but the restaurant was a bit slow when we were there - not sure what it would be like with a full house.
The only choices are whether or not to do the wine pairing with the set menu (we did), and which of the two desserts (we did one of each). Presentation on the plate was attractive, thoughtful, and interesting, and every course was excellent. The wine pairings were good. I'd go back in a heartbeat and wouldn't change a single thing. Highly recommended.
I've been waiting to try Bondir for a long time. A friend's visit from the West Coast was the perfect impetus to finally make a reservation. Bondir did not disappoint. The evening was STUPENDOUS. We raved to each other the entire night, thru 5 exquisite courses. Bravo Bondir for a truly delightful evening and mouth-watering original selections. I couldn't be more pleased ... as you may gather. :-) 10 stars!
