They call their burger Smash, probably named after the TV show, now Broadway show. It looks like two burgers, smashed down on the grill and place in a nice roll with a great sauce, sautéed onions. It is just Mahhvelous. They also make available a dozen or so appetizers that can be ordered in multiples as a main course. The cauliflower, mushrooms and the eggplant parm were ordered by my wife. Her sister had only the eggplant parm appetizer. The eggplant is not what one, used to a traditional Italian restaurant would expect. It looked like a small eggplant that had the bottom rimmed so that could stand up and then cut so it stood about 2"-3" tall. It was baked and topped with the cheese. Both my wife's one, and her sister's two, were quite difficult to cut. We actually asked for a steak knife to replace the slightly serrated butter knife. We told the waiter this was nothing like a cooked eggplant should be. He tried cutting it and took it back to the chef. They replaced it with something more cooked, softer. We had cappuccinos and NY cheesecake. All were very good. The restaurant is lovely, bistro-like. We enjoyed our stay. Take a look at their menu on their website. The wait staff was properly attentive and we were not rushed out. We had a very nice time.

We have been going here for more than 20 years. In the past month, the menu has changed. No more real burger and no fries. No ice cream at all for dessert. No possible substitutions on anything. Service remains lovely; the people are overworked yet gracious and recognize frequent patrons. And finally: bolognese pasta sauce is billed (suspiciously) as three meat. Here is what my taste buds found: possible beef, definite pork, and LIVER. The owner, the too rich, and too mean and too greedy Shelly Fireman cannot help opening new pleaces, and ruining his once signature food by making it inedible and more expensive. I am in mourning for all of the places I loved before in that stupid empire.

The food was amazing! We had to wait a little while to get our order, but it was absolutely worth it. The flavors were spot-on, and everything was beautifully prepared. Great experience overall ,definitely a place worth visiting before any show!!
