BonCaldo Ratings and Reviews
Gave this 3-star. I expected a lot more. It was an average experience. Nothing really negative other than the hostess sat us with no menus - had to ask for them after 5-10 minutes, and the ownership of our table changed multiple times while we were there. Almost appeared like no one wanted to serve us. The food was good, and the dinner prices were reasonable. We were there for my son's birthday (noted in the OpenTable reservation and also mentioned to the final waiter), expected "singing" but nothing.
Hi, I rarely submit a negative review but I was very disappointed with the pasta with broccoli entry. It is difficult fathom why the serving was limited to three small broccoli florets and four dabs of chicken.
I ordered the pasta-broccoli entry for the benefits of complex carbohydrates and the protein in the chicken. Neither was impressive.
On the other hand, my significant other enjoyed the salmon entry.
The ambience is outstanding, the service was top notch but the pasta-broccoli entry was very disappointing. How much more cost would be added to the entry if it included reasonable portions of broccoli?
We went there for a special date night and we truly enjoyed our meal, our waitress was awesome and we had great laughs because my boyfriend asked me to marry him right outside on the beautiful steps that reminded me of being at a restaurant in Italia! Loved the place and we will be back!
The food and drinks were very good. Our waitress, Ashley, was knowledgeable and friendly. When they had run out of the wine that we ordered, she was most apologetic and substituted another good selection at the same price. We enjoyed our meal and will return.
The food was excellent and the wait staff was wonderful. We had the calamari as an appetizer. It was outstanding. We both chose specials for our entrees. One was bass and the other chicken. We were both very pleased with our choices. I thought their pricing compared to other restaurants was more than reasonable!
Bon Caldo is not quite as good as I remember it from a few years ago, but it provided a good meal at a reasonable price. The wine selection is interesting with a selection of Italian wines as well as standard bottles. Veal was good and tender, but salmon was overcooked. Individual salad selection was interesting. Desserts were a bit heavy on whipped cream. Service was fine.
We made reservations about 2 1/2 hours ahead of time. The BonCaldo staff was ready for us on time. Having been married for over 40 years, we asked our waitress if the salad was suitable to split between the two of us. She said yes; and It was! Our meals were delicious and we split the dessert, too! We had a wonderful meal (despite the fact that the women behind us were loud... not the fault of BonCaldo's.)
Wanted to try a different Italian restaurant in Norwood so went to BonCaldo last night with my husband. We will not be back. We always have calamari to start and tiramisu to end when judging a new restaurant. The offered bread was too hard and the accompanying sauce was tasty but too cold. The calamari flavors were good but the slices were too thick. We both had the 'specials' for dinner. Hubby was satisfied with his tuna but it was more 'medium' than 'rare'. The mashed potatoes and green beans were great. I did not enjoy my risotto with scallops in balsamic reduction. Way too much balsamic, too small scallops, and veggies in the risotto were too hard. Portions were large.
Then my favorite dessert was...sloppy. I think they must make it like lasagna and this was sitting for so long that the lady fingers were so mushy! The shape did not hold on the plate so they tried to mask it by covering the whole thing completely with cocoa powder. What a waste of calories and money.
Server, John, was fine.
I'll stick to Olivadi's.
When we entered the restaurant there was a bad odor. We assumed it was cheese or fish.
The restaurant was empty. The waitress was nice and attentive. Our meals came just as we were finishing our salads.
The server was joggling used dishes and our meals. I had the haddock which i thought was very good.
This was a first time for us to Bon Caldo, and was based on the recommendation of a friend who goes there frequently. There were 4 of us, and we all enjoyed our meals, and felt that the service was outstanding. I would definitely recommend Bon Caldo to others, and is a great place if you are headed to Gillette Stadium for something.
Our server was uncomfortable with serving two men. He was abrupt and disinterested in us as customers . We watched how he engaged with other so felt uncomfortable about his service approach with us. First and last experience at this restaurant. Clearly homophobic.
The food here is very good - really delicious, unusually flavorful. Ingredients are fresh and top quality. The wine list is excellent; an extensive range of well-chosen Italian wines. For a special occasion there are many outstanding choices. Equally impressive are some of the low-cost wines which show quality far above their price. Service is uneven and can make dinner feel hectic.
