Bonavista Revolving Lounge at The Westin Bonaventure Hotel
LA Prime Restaurant: Fine dining with spectacular view of downtown Los Angeles. Specializes in prime steaks and fresh seafood. Located on the 35th floor above the Bonavista Lounge.
This is not an accurate review because we never had the chance to dine there. They were still closed but failed to inform us. We are hoping to go again soon
Of course it's a beautiful view, and the drinks were good, but not worth the price. Service was absolutely terrible.
Love the rotating views above LA. Food was great but menu is light.
The food was not too quality for the price I paid. View was amazing. Was pretty loud.
Please can we have more small bites Lounge food. Server nice and attentive.
It was my parents 35th anniversary and server(Javier ) and the restaurant was ,outstanding from the moment of hostess looking up our reservation . Till the end with a amazing dessert that said happy anniversary thanks to the entire team that made a lovely day for my parents.
Great service with great views. The event I was attending ended earlier because of the rain and we still got seated right away even though we got there earlier than our reservation.
Had a great experience! Drinks and food were delicious! Service was prompt and friendly! Ordered the cheeseburger and blue fin tuna tataki, apple martini was delicious🍸fun experience having your drink served table side! Views and ambiance were just right!
Came here for my husband's birthday. We arrived a little early but they sat us down anyway which was a plus! Javier our waiter was very attentive and took into account that at least one of us (my husband) is allergic to seafood. He suggested the new york steak sandwich and it was super delicious! He also brought out a beautifully decorated piece of chocolate mousse dessert for my husband.
We ordered drinks too. Mine was the Collins and it was very refreshing! Loved it!
I loved the atmosphere. It was relaxing and peaceful. The revolving sightseeing was a huge bonus.
Thank you again for this special experience for my husband. We look forward to coming back for another night!~
This is not my first visit, but i don’t think ill go that place again
They have to think about service first, face control and food menu
Was very loud also !
Many mistakes from waiter !!
Very slow to make even picca from their menu !!!
View and table were unsurpassed. 2 hours of view. Food was good, but menu was very limited. Service was great. Did not feel rushed. Be sure to get parking validated, since ir drops the price to $7 for 3 hours.
We came here pre-Covid.
If you’re in the revolving lounge at the Bonaventure, let me make abundantly clear: you’re here for the view, the fact that your seat is migrating around the building, and for quiet conversation with whoever’s accompanying you.
If you’re here for the service, the drinks, or the food...well, you’re in LA; go find someplace good.
The service was lackluster and apathetic; flagging someone down took 10-15 minutes, so plan to order everything you’ll want at the start. It will also take a while, and you might get your boring, we-have-to-serve-something food before your watered-down drinks.
Such is life.
But if you’re eager to watch the sun set while sipping a pre-dinner cocktail and flirting with your partner, there’s no more awesome place than this fantastic, many-movie-and-show-film-location hotel. The outside glass elevators are awesome, the building itself is fun to wander through, and it’s fairly centrally located, so an Uber can get you anywhere...quickly.
Don’t come for the food. Come for the views and to spend time with whoever will make the rotating lounge feel magical. ...And then go eat somewhere else!
Beautiful more thing on the menu would be nice but outstanding
Food was not great and the sever didn’t give us a good service. For the price, they should have a better menu.
Made a 10:30 pm reservation. Arrived at 10 :20pm and was told by valet that they were turning people away because they had accidentally overbooked guests. Went inside the hotel anyways and they had locked peoples access from going to the 35th floor and stopped answering the phone . Very unprofessional and I was so disappointed.
Made a reservation for Valentine's, waited a long time for that and at the end the kitchen was backed up 2 hours, and we couldn't had our Valentine's dinner, and at that time every other restaurant was full. Thanks for nothing
Reservation was terrible and got canceled
They cancelled reservations due to over capacity /turned down countless people with no warning or compensation or anything
Not allow to go in even we made reservation.
Worst Valentine's Day experience of my life. Showed up and they had overbooked heavily on reservations. Told us it would be at least a 2-3 hour wait and that they were running out of food. Complete fail. We got all dressed up, excited for the night, and showed up to our confirmed reservation we had made weeks in advance only to be let down. Ended up eating fast food for my big date with my new girlfriend. So embarrassing, will never come back here or recommend it to anyone.
For Valentine's Day, the place was overwhelmingly busy and our reservation was for 10pm! They were cancelling all reservations after 8pm because the kitchen was 2 hours behind! Luckily we were also staying at the Bonaventure Hotel so they accommodated us. We got seated around 10:30pm and the manager gave us complimentary shrimp cocktail since there were delays. We also ordered some cheese and bread as we were hungry! Our petite filet and lobster finally arrived around 11:30pm. Let me tell you, everything was delicious! The filet was juicy and melted in your mouth. The lobster tail was fantastic! The french fries was ok as I prefer red potatoes or asparagus. Yes the food was expensive ($70/plate) so you won't get value, but it was worth it for me, especially with the rotating views of LA! Our server was very attentive as well, always refilling my soft drink!
If you can afford it and you are patient on Valentine's Day, you will have a great experience!
They purposely overbooked cancelled dozens of people’s reservations without notice. Lines of frustrated + dressed up couples were being turned back from the restaurant by security guards.
Did not honor my reservation. Overbooked by dozens of people ridiculous. Everyone turned away despite reservations weeks earlier.
They were overbooked and hours behind. We didn’t even get to eat!
Made a reservation at 9:30pm for Valentine’s Day. Got there at 9pm and checked in. Waited an hour, then was told that they had to cancel all reservations because they are so backed up. They totally ruined our Valentine’s Day.
Very terrible didn’t even get to sit because I had to wait 3 hours even though I had a reservation at 9:30 and got there at 9:10
WHAT AN ABSOLUTE JOKE! I've never experienced or heard of anything so disgustingly unprofessional in my life. After booking our 9pm reservation a week in advance, we came to the restaurant to find a line up the stairs and all the way to the elevator! After being informed this was the line for reservation check-ins, my date and I waited for an hour as we watched angry customer after angry customer leave the restaurant and explain to the people in line they were still waiting to be seated for 7:30pm reservations! Multiple wait-time windows were being thrown around by the hostesses as more and more people showed up for their reservations. Around 10:15pm, an angry Asian man came out from the kitchen, put his hands in the air and began yelling that everyone with a reservation after 8pm would be cancelled because the kitchen was 2hrs behind! He then announced that the restaurant was at capacity and a security officer would escort anyone off the property that was not willing to turn around and leave. No mention of our $75 per person cancellation fees until upset customers began to ask. I'm assuming the Asian man was the manager. If that is the case, I suggest the owners of this establishment fire him and teach their management personnel how to handle these sort of situations. Whatever happened last night was completely uncalled for and preventable. As others have said, the restaurant even called the day before to confirm the reservation. With absolutely no real explanation as to how this happened during the manager's kick-out speech, I'm sure you just lost A LOT of future business. Thank god I wasn't planning to propose like some of the other reviews I've read today. Shame on you BonaVista lounge! 0 STARS.
We got out of there as soon as we could. No Air-conditioning left the entire restaurant feeling musky and the overall vibe was just horrible. Angry Valentines and incompetent staff were circling around the entire restaurant, literally inches away from people dining.
Trash establishment! Made a reservation a month in advance for Valentine’s Day. After the restaurant called and double confirmed our reservation and were weird about all the rules for the night (which I understand) they told us when we arrived that there was a 45 minute delay even with reservations. Told us to wait downstairs at the bar. Come to find out that they were kicking people out with reservations because they overbooked themselves. Not only did they just stall us for an extra hour but they waisted an entire evening. They didn’t even validate our parking. Ruined Valentine’s Day for myself and quite literally dozens of other people. Very bad business.
I wouldnt recommend going here unless they guarantee you a seat. Reservations mean absolutely nothing! They are in desperate need of new management!
When we arrived on Valentine's Day at 8:25 for an 8:45 reservation we were told that they were running 45 minutes behind. Since we were guests in the hotel, they suggested that they would check us in, and we could go back to our room to wait, since there was already a large crowd of folks waiting and crowding the host stand. When an hour had passed with no call we returned. By this time there were at least 50-60 people, all couples for Valentine's Day, all waiting. Then the manager made an announcement (mind you, it's now 9:45pm). "If you have a reservation after 8pm, we are not going to be able to seat you tonight.". That's right: they still weren't seating people at 9:45 that had 8pm reservations... And they turned away dozens of couples that had made reservations for Valentine's Day: with no dinner. Mind you, everyone had had to put down a credit card on the reservation, and there was a $75/person minimum.
It was an absolute fiasco.
We were guests at the hotel though, so they said they could seat us. But then they said it would be a two hour wait for food. This after we had already waited an hour to be seated.
So be warned: this is how they run this establishment. No view is worth being treated like this. Go. Somewhere. Else.
Worst mismanagement of an establishment I have ever experienced. They quadruple booked all of their tables. Two hours after waiting (had reservation) the manager came out and aggressively told everyone in the lobby to leave. Threatened to bring security and was belligerent. Everyone's Valentine's day was ruined. One guy had a bunch of balloons and flowers that he had brought to propose, felt really bad for him. Manager should be fired.
I booked this place about 2 weeks ago for Valentine’s Day at 8:30 PM. When I got there people that had reservations from 6:30 PM hadn’t been even got seated. I waited about an hour and they told everyone that had reservations after 8 PM, would not be seated that night. They ruined my night with my girlfriend, and that of many other. People were vocally expressing themselves as they were very frustrated. People had waited over 2 hours just to not be seated. I have never experience such a bad service failure in my life. This place obviously overbooked. Also, the reservation said 2 - maximum when booked, and people were staying beyond that. That could also have made this more of a issue, but the restaurant needs to do better on enforcing their booking agreements. Do not go here. Just awful for a 5 star hotel.
Horrific experience, very disappointed by the staff. Our reservation was 8:30pm, once we checked in we were told 30 to 40 minute wait. After 1 hour 30 minute wait, over 50 customers were ordered to leave the establishment because they could not serve us due to over reserving people. Manager was horrible by yelling at people to leave the establishment. I have never been treated this horrific by any staff in the county of Los Angeles, let alone downtown L.A. entertainment district.
Valentine’s Day was horrible. Overcrowded. Food would take 90 minutes to be ready. Reservation time meant nothing wait an hour and a half just to sit.
I was really frustrated this past weekend for Valentines Day. I made reservations one month ahead of time for dinner at the Bonaventure Lounge up on the 35th (34th) floor and this restaurant was over capacity. They said it would be a 30 minute wait after my reservation time. This frustrated me because one who makes reservations should be honored that time. Also I was a guest in the hotel staying the night. I should definitely be honored my time being such a loyal customer. That half hour they promised became 2 hours to just be seated. Once we were seated we had to wait another hour to actually eat dinner. Me and my wife did not eat until 11pm at night which is ridiculous. The only thing that I do give the restaurant is that our food was really good. That is why I did not freak out as much. To add to my complaint when checking out and trying to get my vehicle in Valet. The Valet was understaffed and there was at least 60 people ahead of me for Valet. I already was skeptical leaving my Lamborghini Huracan in Valet because they tend to not care for other peoples vehicles. Being that my car was parked up front I just took the initiative to get my own car because valet was so busy and unorganized. I am not the type of person to complain and notice that the biggest complaint is Valet being so expensive on your reviews, but this Valet department was understaffed and very out of order. I do understand that it was valentines day and it is one of your busiest days, but something has to be done on your customer service side of things. Drinks, Food, Hotel Stay was expensive and I don't mind spending money on a good time, but If I am going to spend money I would like it to be a good experience. I did not have a good experience sad to say.
Where do I start? I had an appointment for 7:45 PM on Valentine’s Day. We showed up to check on at 7:40 and were told that they were behind and that we had to wait about 30-45 minutes. At 8:25 we went up and were told we were still 9 tables behind.... finally at 9:15 we were seated. Meanwhile other people arriving for their reservations were still being lied to about a “30 minute wait”.
Right away, I ordered drinks, an appetizer, and the main course for my girl and I. The waiter said the wait was roughly one hour. 40 minutes in and not a word. Understandably not the fault of the waiter. The waiter brought us a shrimp cocktail as an apology. My girlfriend is allergic to shrimp, to the point it being at the same table makes it difficult for her to breathe. Once again, the waiter could not know this. However, when I told the waiter she was allergic and I apologized, instead of taking it away the waiter told me, “ well then you eat it!” and left the god damn shrimp at our table. Seriously what the hell?
Finally, our food came an 1:.5 hours after being seated. The steak was not bad, although $65.00 is stretching it.
So would I ever visit this place? Not a chance in hell. 4 hours for a medium rare steak that was decent but not something to write home about.
Reservation at 7:30 PM, is now 10:20 and still no food has been served. The survey to rate the restaurant came before we had anything to eat. We will not be combing back.
Considering there was a reservation made at a specific time, we still had to wait about 1 hour and half to be seated. In addition, the food took another 1hr to arrive. Our reservation was for 7:30 and didn’t leave the place until 11pm. Valet parking was not available for Bonavista Lounge customers and instead was provided to LA Prime customers.
Waited 45 additional minutes past our reservation time. Once seated, we were told that food would take about 1 hour to prepare due to how busy they were. Service was inattentive during this time as we waited nearly 1 hour and 20 minutes for our entrees. As we continued our evening, we were hearing other around us being told their food would take 2 hours to prepare. Some couples, on Valentine's Day, were storming out of the restaurant highly upset due to the added wait time. When we first arrived for our reservation, we questioned as to the added wait time were told that diners are staying beyond their 2 hours dining limit. Although we understood the explanation initially, we soon realized that the diners had little choice but to wait added time for their food, therefore having incoming diners with Reservations wait so long before getting seated. This issue was greatly exacerbated by the restaurant's inability to keep up with the orders of seated diners. It was evident that a significant management issue was affecting the overall operation of the night and according to customer reviews from the past year, this has happened before, which is completely unacceptable. At the end of the night, you can feel the frustration of the many couples hoping to have enjoyed a beautiful Valentine's Day dinner which was made worse by the automatic 18% gratuity fee added to the bill, which couldn't be justified or comprehended.
DO NOT COME HERE ON VALENTINES DAY. This place ruined our 6 year anniversary/Valentines day. We made a reservation for 7:15 and didn’t get seated until 8:30. We didn’t even get our food until 9:45 and when it came, it was completely wrong. They gave my fiancé a completely different meal than he ordered and while I asked that my filet mignon he buttlerfly well done, it was not butterflied and was bleeding. We asked to speak to the manager and waited another 20min for him to show up as he was going table to table hearing complaints. After this we didn’t even eat the meal and instead walked our and went to King Taco. This was a terrible example of poor restaurant management and service. STOP TAKING RESERVATIONS IF YOU CANNOT HONOR OR SUPPORT THEM!

Yes, you can generally book this restaurant by choosing the date, time and party size on OpenTable. Due to local restrictions, this restaurant may not be accepting reservations at the moment.
