Bon Appetit Ratings and Reviews
Absolutely pathetic! You can always hit a bad night and have a bad experience, but this was not the Bon Appetit of old.
They seated more people than they could service with the staff available. No bus staff so the waiters had to bus the tables instead of waiting on customers.
The bread girl never could find our table without us asking for bread and she never came back.
I personally ordered a 5oz. Fillet mignon cooked medium rare. Medium rare always shows pink. My rather thin slice for a filet, was serviced with no pink.
Water glasses were not refilled without asking. Empty plates were not bussed until we stacked them in the middle of the table ourselves.
We were never asked it we wanted a second drink, we were not offered coffee, we were offered desert after sitting for twenty minutes. Then there was the wait for the check.
Waiter could see no problems with his service, the manager was not much interested in the fact that he cannot supervise a dining room or my observations.
Four of the people at the table said the their food was nice but sadly served luke warm. Enjoyable? No.
Worth the money? No. There are better choices.
We were surprised by this visit to the Bon Appetit. We have been many times before and had always received great food and quality service. This time we ordered 6 oysters on the half shell , they came with only 5. Problem was corrected bu bringing another 2 oysters. My wife ordered a shrimp plate with sauce on the side. They arrived with sauce on top as well as a side. She had to remove the sauce that was on top. The fish and chips looked like they just came out of a Mrs. Paul's box. Attention to such details indicated that the priority was not on attention to detail or presentation. We may try again and chock this up to a one time issue. I am hopeful that proves to be true. Very dissatisfied. Server, however, was good.
Our server, Miguel, was very professional and attentive. Had a good command of the menu and informative about the drinks. We were never left wondering where he went, if we needed something he was there. The food was a little pricey but tasty, you are paying for the view, which is beautiful at sunset, Book in advance to get that prime slot.
What a beautiful restaurant right on the gulf. Everything was perfect, from the valet parking to the dessert. My husband, parents and I enjoyed a very nice meal watching the sunset while enjoying a perfect meal. The live piano playing was a bonus and when she came by the table to take requests, well that just made it extra special. This was our first visit but certainly will not be our last.
We liked this restaurant so much that we returned again in a week. They have a reasonable wine list and a fine touch in cooking fish. We especially enjoyed the dover sole, grouper, oysters bienville and the seafood tower which is a special treat. The views are fantastic.
Bon Appetit has a lovely outside patio with great Gulf views. Indoor restaurant is very large and inviting but we always prefer the outdoor terrace. The menu is changed up every so often so it makes you want to return to see what’s new. Nice serve staff and very accommodating.
This is the restaurant we are always looking for but seldom find. I mean it in a very positive way when I describe it as "old-fashioned;" it's the kind of restaurant where the staff do not refer to you as "you guys," or mistakenly think that "no problem" is the correct response to "thank you." You can converse here, enjoy perfect cocktails, and dine on some of the best prepared food you will find anywhere. Bon Appetit is run by grownups who are very, very good at what they do.
We went back two days later for lunch, and my wife ordered the veal chop again, just to make sure it was as good as she remembered. It was. My lamb chops were perfectly prepared in a kitchen that knows their mediums and medium rares. I don't usually rave about vegetables, but would get in the habit of doing so if they were all as well prepared and tasteful as the green bean and rutabaga saute was. At followup lunch, the cold seafood plate was just what I had hoped it would be.
This restaurant is reason enough to visit Dunedin; if you want to alternate with a more casual atmosphere with equally good food, their sister restaurant Cafe Alfresco is a great choice - a diner with fine dining quality food!
A splendid experience on Valentine's Day. . .a bit pricey but worth it. The food was excellent and bountiful and the service was first rate. The waterfront setting is beautiful. It was a bit noisy and crowded but not excessively so. It is a well-managed establishment both elegant and casual.
So unfortunate because this restaurant has so much potential. The location is perfect and views are gorgeous, but the restaurant itself is very dated and in desperate need of renovation. We were seated in the first dining room, with limited views and no table cloths, which honestly reminded me of an old diner! Moreover, the food is overpriced and very disappointing! I don't know what all the raving is about, but this is my second visit to Bon Appetite and I can honestly say there will not be a third visit. I would recommend visiting Bon Appetite's outside bar for a cocktail, enjoy the view and then have dinner at one of the many other wonderful restaurants in Dunedin.
Waitress SCHAZEE was perfect - very attentive, but not intrusive, able to sense when we were ready to move to next level.
Since the restaurant was not crowded it was heaven!!!! BUT I've not taken guests for a long time since the noise level with a loud banging piano hinders all conversation. Please try to temper the talented pianist - I'm a pianist and realize the difficulties of playing classical pieces in a subdued manner, but it can be done. Light soothing dinner music is so lovely and helps set the ambiance. BUT KEEP IT IN THE BACKGROUND - NOT A FLOOR SHOW.
Beef tips were excellent + baby back ribs. Keep the healthy food coming!
We had a reservation and were seated promptly. When we asked for a table with a better view for both of us our request was granted graciously. The food was very good and the ambience very nice. The biggest issue we had was with our server, Robert. He was very quiet and reserved, not personable at all. We find that the personality of the server can add so much to the dining experience. After we ordered cocktails he removed the wine list without asking if we were going to want wine with our meal (which we did!). If not for our server we would rate this at least a 4 star restaurant.
Bon Appetit consistently performs as a restaurant with a view. The service is always top notch. The menu is varied, and provides solid value, leaning toward seafood, but with much more. The views into the estuary and toward barrier islands is magnificent. An outdoor bar offers a very casual option; outdoor dining is also available. The recently updated indoor dining areas are comfortable and have a nautical theme. We have enjoyed Bon Appetit many times, and intend to continue to support and enjoy this very fine Tampa Bay dining destination.
Food was good but a little too salty for my tastes. A couple times I actually puckered. I ordered a soup which never came and when our food was brought out and set on a tray about 20ft away, it sat there for 5 minutes before our server finally grabbed it and brought it to us. Our server never came by, I had to ask another waitress for a drink refill and for our check. What should have been a 50 minute meal was 95 minutes with all the waiting we had to do. Highly unlikely we return.
Our meal was very good ( especially the lobster cocktail appetizer with cognac sauce and the lamb entrée ) and the ambience was nice but the service was phenomenal. Miguel was an excellent server. He was always there when we needed him. We were there for my dad‘s 81st birthday and he sang Happy Birthday when he delivered his dessert with a candle as well as giving him a certificate for champagne at his next visit to the restaurant. We enjoyed everything but a big shout out to Miguel for making the occasion very special. Also, shout out to the piano player who played the tunes that we requested and came over to our table several times to talk to us. She was lovely.
