A delicious preparation of julienne of Tandoori Chicken cooked in an exquisite creamy tomato sauce. (Boneless Meat)
Tender chicken pieces marinated in aromatic spices, garlic and mint sauce, barbecued to perfection in the clay oven
Outstanding as always! Top notch food and service. My go to for business dinners as well as family outings. The best Indian food in the DC metro area!
Food was not good at all. Price was really high compare to other restaurants
We had a reservation. We're waiting 15 min and told where our table was. Then they "accidentally" sat someone else there. Then it happened again. 30 min later I finally complained and they went over and asked the people who they sat down to move for us. Motifiying. We left. It was a disaster. They had people singing... And it was a buffet, not a sit down restaurant.
6pm on Saturday and it wasn't busy, but by 8 it was 2/3 full. Could hold a conversation and not raise our voices. Decor was modern. Server was professional. Restaurant didn't smell saturated where you know you and your clothes will smell like Indian food the rest of the evening (which I like). The chicken tikka masala was incredibly flavorful, smoky with a depth of flavor. Garlic naan was also great. Shrimp masala was just ok and paneer makhani was good. Spinach chat was very good. Next time we’ll order spinach chat, chicken tikka masala and try something new.
This was recommended by a friend and we went with a group of 10. The food excellent and the service very attentive. We will be back either as a group or just my wife & I.
Went for dinner on Christmas. Had no idea it was buffet only until we arrived after 20 minute drive. Food was so-so st best. Service not pleasant. Really disappointed considering great reviews we had read.
Went for Christmas dinner. Didn’t get water for 20 min. Never got asked if I wanted a drink. My kids did get asked and they asked for milk, which was never brought to us. I went to the bar to get two milks and two club sodas. Bartender was really good and gave me beverages immediately. At multiple times during buffet, plates were missing, food items were not available (had to wait.)
I understand that it was Christmas and sometimes restaurants are short-staffed, but you shouldn’t short-staff so much that you ruin the restaurant’s reputation. My sister told me this was a high end Indian restaurant. That was far from the truth. Wish I could get my time and money back.
For a $27 buffet with no service, not good. (Just FYI, when I asked for the check I got it instantaneously)
Food was okay, service was slow, and ambiance was good.
I am regular customer but not impressed this time; lunch buffet has less vegeterian choice and food was cold even at 12:30.
Really tasty chana masala and garlic naan. Aloo tikkis are very tasty too. Generous portions. Rice comes with chana!
Bombay Tandoor consistently has amazing food and wonderful service. Try the lamb chops!
Very good food and variety of choices. The staff was acommodating.
We had eaten here several years ago, but the experience was nowhere near as good (plus they didn’t have a current liquor license).
I am glad we came back. We each had the vegetarian thali plate, and every item was very good (particularly the okra). We will be back.
Greetings. Made a reservation as my wife and I finally had a sitter. Arrived to find that the restaurant was closed for the day!! As I could not cancel my reservation (already started), I could not use OpenTable to make another one. Was a frustrating experience.
we waited for 40 min before somebody even took our order... and the food wasn't worth the wait. It isn't authentic Indian food so if you don't like it, you should give Indian food another chance, because that was not Indian food.
Slightly pricey for a weekday Indian lunch buffet but the food is good with a pretty decent variety.
Inspite of a big party scheduled you guys handled our small group extremely well. Good food and good service. Took good care of our group of 17. Your Service was excellent and we had a great time. Thanks! We will be back!
There are plenty of Indian restaurants to choose from in Northern Virginia. I wouldn't put this one in the higher rankings. I ordered a kabob platter and was surprised with chicken, ground lamb and shrimp with tiny slices of pepper and onion in a very spices sauce. The menu doesn't offer any descriptions of dishes nor level of spices. The waiter did not follow up after the dishes arrived and I had to get up from the table to find him when it was time to pay. All in all the prices are reasonable but I won't be returning.
Excellent service and high quality dishes, fresh and hot to the table, no matter what we ordered. Tender tandoori, fresh house made chutney and naan, desserts, etc. This last visit was no exception. We'll return again.
I look forward to dining here anytime I’m in the area. Food is hands down BEST. No matter what new items we try - they are all amazing. Even my friends who have never tried Indian food enjoy it. The chicken tiki Marsala sauce is excellent. The naan bread is flavorful.
The food is London-quality Indian. Please open in Arlington!
Absolutely great food. Decor is sparse and lacking something, perhaps a little color.
excellent food and ambience
excellent goat curry
Indian food, basic and delicious. Took my dad and wife for the lunch buffet, now it‘s my go-to when craving Indian, Unpretentious, generous. Great service.
It was my birthday, and we were treated excellently. Alook (?) was wonderful helping me select the foods that fit in with my medical diet. It’s become a tradition to go there each year, and we will continue!
The food is excellent- best Indian food I’ve ever had. Our group shared the lamb, chicken tiki Marsala (sauce is great for dipping in naan bread) and saag.
We dined early so noise level was nominal, raising only sightly by the time we left when the restaurant was 70%+ full. Food as usual was hot, plentiful, and tasty. Kudos the kitchen! Wished service had been more attentive, as it was on the unusually haphazard side this visit, appearing to be understaffed. Redeeming was the staff's friendliness. We'll still return for the variety and consistent quality of dishes with commensurate, reasonable pricing.
Excellent buffet. PEOPLE PLEASE do not put your fingers in the food while serving yourselves. Gross
The food was absolutely delicious! There was a special event there though and it made our dining experience a little odd. Not bad necessarily, but a little odd - we were seated near where they were staging plates for the event. I felt in the way; of course I wasn’t and they sat us there, it was just odd! I’d come back again though - the food was very very good.
The experience was not what we expected, however, overall described as average.
The food wasn’t very good .
Probably the best Indian food I’ve ever tasted. The chicken tiki Marsala was incredible. The lamb was also very tasty.
Starters were very good.
Samosas were spicy but on point as were the Pani puri, which the whole group loved.
Other appetizer we ordered were Pakoras, a mix of vegetables, usually dipped in a spiced chick pea batter and fried. These were prepared slightly differently, but still tasty.
Entrees were the Tandoori platter, the only thing which was a bit disappointing. It had chicken tika, a bit bland; chicken malai also on the tasteless side; lamb kebab and shrimp which were both good. The chick pea side, Masala chole was good.
Konkan Fish curry was tasty, a bit spicy but not to hot and very good.
Bangan Bharta was also tasty, but too much tomato gravy, like no Bharta I have ever made or eaten.
Aloo Gobhi was excellent.
We also shared a bread basket, three types of naan....plain, garlic and onion very good and oh so useful for the delicious fish curry!
Servers were very friendly and patiently answered questions about gluten free options, and the kitchen was also very accommodating.....chicken kebab platter with rice.
We were belatedly celebrating a friends birthday and she loves Indian food. We all left happy and full, a place we would gladly return.
As u can see above everything was good from food to ambience. The only advice I have is we know we went in late for dinner and I wish the waiter had warned us that the kitchen was closing soon. My kids wanted dessert and tea but we were informed that it was too late:( it was disappointing fir my son who was visiting home for just one day from college and wanted a good meal with dessert fromBT!
Excellent dining experience. Very good taste and value for food
I love this restaurant. The food is always delicious. We enjoy attending for business lunches. They can easily accommodate large groups. Making an online reservation was super easy.
When we walked in restaurant was almost empty, I mentioned I had a reservation for party of 4 with one toddler. Manager didn’t care to start with and we got seated. Ordered two apps, two curries, bread basket and couple of drinks. While we were waiting server got chutney but didn’t get papadam, when I asked to get some.. he got it and they were all uncooked.. how difficult is to roast papadam?? I was told it’s free😳.. so you can serve inedible good if it’s free?? Apps - samosas and paneer tikka we’re very good. Paneer was fresh. Okra masala was good too.. kashmiri dum aloo had more whole cloves then entire curry.. in total four adults removed 23 cloves aside and 8-10 we ended up eating! Yes some curries does require whole masalas but not that you dump the entire packet!! Bread basket was also good. Lassi was on the thinner side compared to usual ones. Overall food was average, some items were hit while some were a miss.. overall experience was average.
Food was excellent. Everything we tasted was very good. Service started out slow. It’s been a common theme I have read. Order was messed up a couple of times but we went with it and all good. They have plenty of staff I think it’s just slower to respond on some things. I asked for another drink and they forgot it so had to remind them. Service was friendly however and helpful. We had Tandoori salmon and chicken and butter chicken all which were outstanding. Salmon was really flavorful. All very good.
Service was very slow at first, perhaps because of the large party taking up much of the interior. Until the group’s speech-making ended, it was hard for us to hear each other. It would have been nice to have been informed about this when our reservation was made. However, the food throughout was excellent.
