Don’t like the location particularly so have been trying other Indian places recently, but others simply don’t compare very well. The food here is always good. Wish it had a bit more ambiance and was easier to get to, but BT is the go-to.
My wife and I came here for dinner on a Tuesday night. We arrived at 5:30 and the restaurant was just opening so it was not very crowded. We started with an order of the Samosas and our server brought over complimentary pappadams with chutneys. For our entrees, we ordered the daal makhani, the channa masala, the chicken tikka masala, the saag with corn and an order of roti.
The portions were extremely generous and we really liked the food, but were not big fans of the channa masala as it was made with black tea. The spice level was just right for us- flavorful, but not too spicy.
Overall, we left with ample leftovers and we will certainly be back.
Food was very good, but not spicy even though we asked for spicy. When I caught the servers attention I asked how we could soucevit up & he brought a wonderful spicy garlic sauce. Also, we didn’t know we could not take home the thali leftovers we had not finished...that was odd...
First time eating here...we'll be back!! Loved the butter chicken!
Bombay Tandoor has a great lunch buffet with lots of vegeterian options!
Outstanding!!! Nothing else to say! Fast service, great food and great company. Finally had curry goat and it was delish!!!
The Butter Chicken is the best in the DMV area.
My third time dining here so I tried something new :the prawn and a coconut sauce. Keep in mind that I have food allergies and cannot eat garlic or onion. So the options are limited.
The first two trips I had the butter chicken and was very pleased. So my expectations for the prawn were high. The prawn we disappointing. More like medium-size shrimp. The preparation did not allow for proper expansion joint cooking so the shrimp texture was too firm and the balance of sauce to Shrimp was off. The naan was delicious. I found myself craving vegetables I would return again to the restaurant but for the butter chicken again.
I thought it was bad service I thought it was very loud and noisy also the food was not good at all it tasted all the same .
Very attentive service. Special care was taken to respect my food restrictions. The rice was fragrant and light, in contrast to the creamy texture of the butter chicken sauce which I take mild.
I carried home a VEGAN CHICK PEA dish for a client along with their delicious Naan- buttery, fresh and chewy.
Despite the dining room being sparsely attended, but with one large party that seemed to take all of the service resources. So, the service was quite slow. Yet the waiter was attentive to my food restrictions and made an excellent suggestion of “butter chicken “ cubed Breast of chicken in a rich and spicy tomato-based sauce. With a side of delicate fragrant rice and naan. A very tasty meal, save the tea Marsala which was poorly executed, thin-bodied with barely a dash of spice. I would return again for the food.
Top notch staff and delicious food in the buffet. I can only assume the menu items are even better. Wide variety of options. Bright, clean, private dining room, bar. Great all around choice.
The experience was great. Will recommend.
Great place to eat, drink and relax with friends. Great menu
The Butter Chicken is a family recipe. It's the best Butter Chicken in the DMV area.
Excellent service and very good food. Very large portions - we all took extra home. Interesting mix of folks in shorts to folks in ties and dresses. This 7pm - 9pm on a Friday night. Waiters and staff very nicely dressed so I was surprised at how casual some of the diners were.
Fantastic food....my second time dining here, would highly recommend!
Great food and every dish was well prepared and presented
Excellent meal. This is the kind of place with such a wide menu and such unique spices for each dish that you should order an extra dish or two so there will something to take home.
Our server was helpful.....food was excellent and delicious...my mother enjoyed too much on her birthday occasion.
I always take my family and friends to Bombay Tandoor, the good is always good, the ambience makes it even better.
Their staff have been always very professional and great. They make you feel like family.

We love this place....been here many times, have had parties here so we're a mainstay. Service on this visit however was slow and we had to ask multiple times for things.
I always take the accounting staff there for lunch for special occasions and everyone enjoys the buffet. Authentic and very tasty.
They didn't rush us and allowed us to have great conversations. Only thing was that it was very cold in the restaurant. I asked them to turn up the heat and I think they did but it was still chilly.
Authentic! This was our first time and had no idea what to expect. There were 4 of us and we all had different dishes and each loved what they had. They do an amazing job and I will definitely come back again.
Authentic Indian cuisine served in a friendly, quiet, comfortable atmosphere. Extensive menu for both carnivores and vegans. Great location. Convenient parking. Excellent value.
After desperately searching for a small taste of authentic South-Asian flavors in the likes of Rasika, Bombay Club, and other (in my opinion) outrageously high-end DC Indian restaurants, I stumbled onto this hidden gem in Tyson's Corner. The staff greets you with respect and maintains a high level of service throughout the experience while not being too attentive - which I've always preferred. The restaurant decor and dim lighting combined with spacious and varied seating arrangements invite conversation and comfort to your dining experience. And like the overall experience itself, the food doesn't try to do too much, but exceeds all expectations. Having now dined at many Indian restaurants not only throughout India, but also various Indian diaspora's around the world, I hold the simplicity and flavorful food of this restaurant with high regard. Oh, and the portions are very fair. If you live in DC like I do, this is worth a drive. Perhaps this overtly positive review is a result of being disconnected from proper Indian cuisine for what seems like months now. In any case, I certainly plan on visiting again.
Excellent food. Plenty of parking. Lunch buffet is even available on Saturdays!
Exceptional cuisine and service. Easily one of the top Indian in the DC area. The wait staff was very friendly and knowledgable with my group. Everything was wonderful including the the Butter Chicken which was 100/100.
Bombay Tandoor is absolutely the best Indian restaurant in the Washington area.
Good variety and the food was delicious! My friend tried to order off menu but the waiter wasn't having any of it. Will definitely go back again.
Horrible service! We were the only ones there. They took forever to take our order, the mango Lassis were disgusting, they were rude, and food was not good. Never going back!
This restaurant had a lot of flies flying around the food. It was very offputting.
In general Bombay Tandoor has been our go to place for dining with friends. As usual we had a wonderful experience.
Food was very good, service was so-so. Since when are all Tandoori dishes considered appetizers? (Seemed odd to us, but the waiter insisted... When we asked for coffee at the end of the meal, he told us "we don't have coffee"; didn't suggest any alternatives!
Gross - this is really a banquet hall on weekends. Wait staff had zero knowledge of the menu and seemed preoccupied with banquet set up. Will not be back.
Service was unusually bad that day. Usually they have great service but that day wasn't their day! Server was unknowledgeable. Garlic Nan was delivered alittle bit over burned and didn't have usual parsley topping. Cocktails were awful! Too strong. And when we complained, it wasn't taken off the bill. So we had to ask for it to be taken off. To make it clear the usual manager wasn't there that day. Maybe this was the problem.
Food was excellent and not salty. Well balanced and well executed. Good quality ingredients. Nice casual modern ambiance.
Being a person from India, it's very hard to find a truly authentic Indian restaurant that makes food like "mom used to make" bu let me tell you. Bombay Tandoor delivers. The food is fresh, hot, tasty and authentic. We went for lunch during the week and was very surprised to see goat curry on the menu, that's usually reserved for the weekend buffet. Excellent variety regarding choices of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, spicy and non-spicy food. The butter chicken was one of the best I've ever eaten and the Chicken Tikka Masala didn't disappoint either. The chana was very tasty. Only one thing I would ask yourself is, is the food really worth $14 a person for a Indian buffet lunch. For me, not so much. I will go there every few months, but I certainly won't be a regular.
This was my first time at this place. I am used to going to Rasika in DC. Rasika is still my #1 spot, but for the value and quality of service, this place was great. The butter chicken was excellent so were the appetizers as well. I give this place a solid 3 stars.
