Bombay Bhel- Thornhill Ratings and Reviews
A wonderful experience every time. It's a fan favorite in our family and we love the attentive staff and owner who go above and beyond to ensure their clients are fully satisfied and content after a fantastic meal! We are vegetarian and the options are endless and extremely tasty!
The food was delicious but very, VERY slow. They forgot one of our appetizers and it ended up coming out after we were halfway done our entrees. Unfortunate because the food is consistently good and the restaurant was packed. I could see lots of people waiting at the door as well and it seemed that some of them eventually gave up waiting.
This was my second visit to the restaurant and I was once again pleased. We placed our order before we got there, as we don't have a lot of time for lunch. Communicating with the staff via email was easy and they responded very quickly. When we arrived the food quickly came to our table and it was fresh, hot, and tasty. We ordered tandoori chicken and mixed vegetable subji, and each dish came with either rice or naan. We got one of each. That was more than enough food for two people and we had left overs to take away.
Would definitely recommend this restaurant if you've got a craving for Indian food.
After reading positive reviews, we were left disappointed.
For our appetizer, we ordered one veggie samosa and one order of spinach samosas (the spinach ones come as six small samosas). What was brought to the table was one plate with three full size samosas and another plate with a single samosa. We asked the server if the plate of three was the spinach samosa as we had been told it was six small samosas. The server said no it wasn't and went to take it back. We asked if the single samosa was indeed the veggie samosa and he assured us that it was. We bit into it and it was meat---as vegetarians, this was unacceptable to us. When we alerted the server, he just looked toward the kitchen and sighed as he removed the samosa. No apology to us for the mix-up. Yes, we realize mix-ups can happen, but an apology would have been appropriate. Our samosas were replaced, but no apology was offered.
In most restaurants after a mix up like this, I would expect the samosas to be offered for free. It was only 95 cents, so not worth us complaining, but still.
The main course (veggie vindaloo) was flavourful, but the veggies were simply the carrots and peas that come in those frozen veggie packs at the supermarket. There was one piece of potato and one piece of tomato included as well. Why they couldn't have cut up fresh carrots for a veggie dish is simply laziness.
The bill came and we were charged for the samosas (again, wasn't worth our while to ask for the charge to be removed) and still not apology.
We will not be back at Bombay Bhel Thornhill.
We had a reservation, when we arrived we we seated promptly. There were 2 people on at next table waiting for others. 10 minutes went by and their guest arrived. waiter asked for drink order and were served. Table behind us arrived and they were severed. The waiter even though we were trying to get his eye ignored us. We stayed another 5 minutes and nothing so we left.
My friends and I met here. I arrived first, and while waiting for my friends, no one stopped to ask me if I wanted to order any drinks while waiting, and I was waiting quite a bit! At least more than 20 minutes. Finally, I had to snag a waitress to let her know that I wanted a drink. Anyway, even though the food was very tasty, there was too much sauce in all of them and not enough of the meat. The meals were filling because we were all girls with small appetites, however, I doubt that if we had each brough our boyfriends/husbands along, the amount of food in each dish would definitely be lacking. Nonetheless, the price was very reasonable and it is a great place for a cheap dinner.
Went here on a whim because I was craving Indian food. Can't believe I hadn't heard of this place after living in the area for as long as it had been open. The place was clean and lively on a Saturday night. The server got to us right away and was helpful. The garlic naan was the best I ever had. Butter chicken and lamb vindaloo were also amazing. I just had an extremely fun time eating. Pricing was also spot on.
The only gripe was that the main course took a bit longer than expected to come out. But appetizers were out quick and we're delicious. Leagues ahead of that other Indian place in the area.
This is our go-to restaurant when we feel like Indian food. The quality is always consistent and every bite is tasty. We usually go for the butter chicken and chicken tikka masala. There was a new item on the menu called Canada's Hottest Curry. It's like $15 and if you finish it, you get free dessert and 10% off your entire meal. I asked about it and waitress said not to get it because it's only sauce with no meat. That was a little disappointing but glad that she told me the truth. On this visit, it was 9pm and we still had to wait almost 30 mins for our food despite there being only a few other guests. Food was good though when it finally came. Price is still reasonable despite the hike. Try this place if you haven't yet.
We've been here a few times already. Food is very good and consistent. We ordered samosas, butter chicken poutine, beef vindaloo and mango chicken. I love their cucumber yogurt to go with the curry but find it a bit pricey at $3.50. They should offer different portions at different prices. The size of the yogurt I ordered can feed 4-6 people. Servers were friendly but not too attentive. We asked for the bill 4 times before we finally got it.
