Bolete Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We had visited Bolete before and were looking forward to dining with friends who had just returned from vacation. There was a party of 7 people seated in the center of the dining area and they were so loud that we couldn't hear each other speak. When I spoke with someone from the staff about the noise, the response was "you should be here on a Friday night". Loved the food but not the atmosphere. I'm sure that in a fine dining restaurant there must be a way to either move our party to a quieter area or somehow nicely ask the large party to hold down their voices. There were three other tables of diners and they were also staring at this table hoping they would quiet their voices. We didn't care to hear about your weekend of drinking and partying !
We have visited Bolete on a number of occasions and always enjoy our meal and experience. The food was fabulous, but we felt it was missing something. In addition, generally, the service is top notch and I felt that there was a lack of attention to details on this visit. The staff were not as friendly and engaging as in past visits and we waited several minutes with empty glasses or cups before anyone approached us about other beverages. On a separate note, when the restaurant called to confirm the reservation, they asked if we were celebrating a special occasion and I said a birthday. Our server never acknowledged the birthday or brought something to the table as I witnessed occur at several other tables. Slightly disappointed with the food and somewhat disappointed with the service.
The server was extremely polite and gracious. She was also very knowledgeable about the food and specials. I had the Seared Foie Gras, the Bay Scallops and the butterscotch pudding. I have never had a meal so exquisitely prepared. The plate pairings were perfectly balanced for the protein. Nothing was out of place on the plate. The Foie Gras melted in my mouth. It was so tender and succulent. I don’t like butterscotch, but it was a freebie for our anniversary and changed my mind about the flavor. I would go back for this pudding any day of the week. I give this restaurant 5 stars!
Aside from the rowdy table of people who, as we were leaving, were loudly singling the Addams Family theme song, we had a wonderful dinner at the most popular restaurant in Pennsylvania! Ordered from the tavern menu but the daily regular menu looked phenomenal as well. Best burger I’ve ever had in my life, and that’s no exaggeration. Bolete style with the mushroom remolade and the house seasoned greens were amazing. You will enjoy your experience!
One of the best meals I have had and I often travel and experience a good number of different restaurants. The halibut was cooked perfectly, beautiful sear! The cauliflower soup danced on my taste buds. I had to remind myself to slow down and savor. I am looking forward to my next visit! I would highly recommend this culinary treat!
This is one of the best of the best places to dine. Best seats are in the bar. Main dining area way too noisy. Food was creative and taste was exquisite. Wine selection pretty good. Only serious imperfect was dessert which were skimpy and sad. All that being said this restaurant remains among the top of my list.
Cauliflower soup sounded good, but it was amazing! I could eat it everyday of my life and not find all the subtle flavors within the savory and plentiful bowl. I enjoyed the goose appetizer and duck entree. The salad the duck was presented on was very good. The butternut scotch pudding was to die for. I never thought it would be anything special, but it was rich and delicious...every single bite...even the bites that didn't have the sugared nuts and whipped cream on them. My fiance enjoyed the scallops very much!
The service at Bolete was impeccable. The drinks were super and creative, but they are priced more like something you'd buy in NYC than Allentown. All in all, we will definitely head back for another special occasion in the future. We want to do the tasting menu next time!!
Bolete is as good as it gets. They went above and beyond to make my birthday brunch special. The service was great and the food was outstanding. Highly recommend for foodies and casual diners alike. If you enjoy supporting local and farm to table cuisine at an affordable price, this is your place. Definitely a gem and worth all the hype.
Fair beer selection but significantly overpriced (beer). Fantastic service. Food was great overall but entree was just good (Ribeye a bit dry at medium) and significantly overpriced. At $52 for entree I expected a bit more.
Don’t misunderstand, overall outstanding and I would go again but I did feel like the value was a bit wanting.
Food was off the charts good and service was great. One minor complaint was that I made the reservation a week in advance on Open Table, because of that, I would have expected that a table for two would have been sat in the dining room and not the bar/tavern section. Additionally, it was my birthday (though we didnt disclose that) so being seated in the bar was a bit of a letdown. That being said, we still enjoyed our experience and would return, just a word to the wise that you might want to request the dining room for your meal.
The food was good but not great or at least not up to our expectations based on reviews. The service was outstanding. The ambiance was ok, not as comfortable and cozy as we prefer. It was disappointing that a restaurant at this level and price point doesn't offer espresso or capuccino!
A gem in Fountain Hill, Bethlehem. Who'd have known? I grew up there and never experienced anything like "fine dining" ... but Bolete fits that moniker. I don't like mushrooms (the translation of the French word "bolete" into English) but the chef prepares everything to order, so you can ask for substitutions or just absentees to the menu.
Wonderful place for romantic dinner for two, or fun for a larger group who truly enjoy fine dining at a reasonable price.
Last weekend we tried a new place for my boyfriend’s birthday dinner. We were so disappointed we decided to do a birthday do-over...and made reservations for birthday brunch at Bolete. This place never lets us down!We went for brunch and I loved the seasonal Bellini. My boyfriend had a burger which was complex in flavor—I stole his pickles :). I had Eggs Chizmar which was poached eggs (my favorite) with fried oysters over a biscuit with a side of potatoes. It was delicious, but my favorite bunch dish is their Duck Hash. We had some butterscotch pudding for dessert...another favorite :)
Always Hits the mark. From the moment you're seated until you're out the door, Bolete lets you know, you're #1. We shared soup, salad, entrees and desserts. Beautiful and tasty cocktails. Attentive staff. And above all ... the flavors and quality of the food as well as the picture perfect presentation has us returning again and again!
