Bol Dining Room Reservations Ratings and Reviews
Bol actually has an interesting menu but somewhere there is a disconnect.
Bruschetta is listed on the menu for 6.00. Anywhere else in the world a diner would expect 2 or 3 pieces,or maybe a disclaimer that it's only one piece. One small piece.
There is also a long and busy bar but they only had plain olives for the Martinis.
But to the main point, since they serve pizza and have a bowling alley parents bring children. and for some reason allow them free reign. Crawling under tables, playing hide and seek and screaming all seem acceptable. When the host was asked why they allowed this he called it a touchy subject.
I never write reviews, but this experience was motivating. After bowling with a big group, which was SO expensive ( I guess I should have expected that in Vail), we were rushed to our table in the loud, low-light dining room. We waited a very long time for our food, and when we asked if it was coming soon, our waiter was simply rude. He completely disappeared for much of our meal and requests for more water, another set-up, and gluten-free chips for the ahi poke (which is what we originally ordered) went ignored or forgotten by the bus boys. Once dinner was cleared, we waited another 20 min for a pre-ordered birthday dessert to be delivered. Food was hit and miss. Hip idea, but overall very disappointing.
Food was good, but the server drop the check in the same time with our food and he didn't give us a chance to take a look at the dessert menu. Plus they didn't ask us to refill the drinks. They totally forgot about us when we paid. I will never go back there..
This is not a typical Vail restaurant! It is very modern, very cool, and very good food. We ate there and checked out the posh bowling lanes but did not bowl. It is a bit pricey to bowl but the food and modern atmosphere is a nice departure from the mountain scene.
Bol was smaller than I expected - in a good way. We had dinner there with our two kids, and would go back with some modifications to the way we order in the future. The appetizers are much better than the mains we had, and we would double up on that next time- the Tuna tartare was amazing and the buffalo wings were yummy. Not a fan of the short rib pasta and the Indian main wasn't a hit either. The kids menu was overly pricey - $22 per child without a drink! This was for 3 courses- carrots and dip, a main, and dessert. The carrot appetizer was strange- there were small full carrots with part of the greens, big cucumber slices, and cherry tomatoes. IMO, it was too fancy for kids and they ate little of it. The carrots were too large- my 10 yr old could barely bite through his. How about peeled carrots cut into matchsticks? That's all they would need- the rest went uneaten. The mains weren't anything crash hot - oily hard fish for the fish & chips. French fries were good and so were mashed potatoes. The steak was chewy. Again- opt for the apps!! I think the burgers would be good too.
Wasn't sure what to think of this place, but when I walked in I was shocked. It is definitely not what you would expect from a bowling alley! It has a nice huge bar which had quite a crowd early in the night. We ate late and were sat immediately at a nice large table for two. The food was really good, we got parmesan chips, a tuna burger (really good) and a pizza (average). I really would have liked to rent a bowling lane, it was more like a VIP table with your own bowling lane, with cool club lighting and table service. It was $65/hour for the lane plus $5 for shoes per person. Overall I love this place, its a great place for young-middle age (who don't mind the noise) people looking for entertainment.
Food was horrendously overpriced and prepared horribly. Our server completely ignored my cooking preference and presented me with a burger that was exactly the opposite of what I asked. Our children ordered from the kids menu and were presented with two dessert options (cookies or brownies). Even to our children, these desserts were inedible; stale cookies and frozen brownies. Yuck. We will never return.
We were unable to secure a bowling reservation on the night we visited Bol, but did have a dining room reservation. Our group of 6 ordered a variety of appetizers and all were outstanding. In particular, the carpaccio and the honey glazed ribs are the best we've had anywhere (including Olive's in Vegas for carpaccio). We also ordered a couple of pizzas for the table to share. Also very good. We had asked to be placed on the waiting list for a bowling lane when we arrived, and were told we were 15th on the list. Fortunately, as we finished dinner, we were able to reserve a lane about an hour later, and really had a blast bowling as a group. I highly recommend the White Russian Milkshake. Overall we had a great evening and would love to return.
We sat down and it took 10 minutes for anyone to bring us menus and another 15 before our waitor came back to take our order. They brought us the wrong appetizer and told us we could keep it and they would bring out the right one. 15 minutes later they brought out the wrong appetizer.... again. About an hour after sitting down we got our food and the appetizer we had originally ordered. The food was great. No complaints. But the restaurant was obviously understaffed at a particularity busy time of the year. Took another 45 minutes before getting our dessert and check.
The food is good, not great. Lamb "Curry" is more like a lamb stew with a tablespoon of basmatic rice. My son's steak was overcooked and the waiter graciously gave him another perfectly cooked steak. Drinks are quite expensive. Overall I give Bol 5 stars for a vibrant, modern atmosphere and 3 stars for the food. Service was great!!! Must go when you are in Vail.
Very disappointed. We arrived early for drinks at the bar. Always eat here when we visit. Tonight the crowd was unusually large since it was New Years. We asked to be seated early if possible since we had our 2 year old. We were finally seated 20 min late and then received no attention from anyone for the next 15 minutes. Finally got the manager who brought us water, but still no order taken and we had to leave because our child was distraught and we left extremely upset that we couldn't even get an appetizer for her. Really what was the point of making a reservation 2 weeks ahead only to be completely ignored. Such a shame because we have always enjoyed our meals here.
Four of us went there for dinner after we checked it out earlier in the day. We loved that many good wines were half price. Our waiter was very helpful in our wine selection and we weren't disappointed. It was an excellent Pinot Grigio from Oregon. One friend had a Glass of Pinot Noir that he said was wonderful. We ordered Salmon with roasted vegetables....amazing and Barbecued Chicken which was very good and even a great hamburger and Caesar Salmon salad. Everyone was happy with their food selection. Our service was excellent. It was a little noisy because of a fund raiser they were having but we moved closer to the front and it was fine.
Great food, ambience and just a fun place. You would never know there is a bowling alley in back.
Surprising great food for a bowling alley/restaurant! The outdoor patio was nice and allowed kids to play while the grownups drank great wine and watched. Speaking of wine, they have a special on bottles that make it affordable to buy bottles rather than by the glass. A great concept!!! We didn't bowl this time but we have in the past and its fun and lively. Adults, young adults and kids alike will love it. Did I mention how great the food was???
We have not been to BOL in years. My daughter wanted to go for her 16th Family Birthday Dinner. We all ordered different items so we could taste everything. Everything was wonderful!!!! Great service and fun atmosphere - not your typical bowling alley. Give it a try! You will love it! We did not bowl and still had a great experience.
We enjoyed Bol. We went there to eat and then learned it also had a cool bowling alley! That is the real deal for Bol. Highly recommend you book a table and a lane. The lanes are harder to get than the tables! It is too bad there is not a connected dining and bowling option (with a deal) to eat in the restaurant and then bowl. Eating in the bowling alley would not have been that easy to do.
We have never eaten at Bol so we decided to have lunch there on our last day in Vail. We were able to be seated outside, with a nice view of the surrounding shops and all purpose green area where fly fishing lessons were given and children could play. We enjoyed the variety of the food offerings. The corn soup was delicious as was the spreads and bread. That would have been enough food but we did not know the spreads/bread would be so large! We also enjoyed our salads. A nice place to relax and have lunch.
We have been coming to Bol for years when we visit. We used to really enjoyed the Kobe beef. You replaced it with the $75 dish and I was extremely disappointed. I talked 4 out of our party of nine to order it. The meat was very tough and hard to eat with average flavor. WAY OVERPRICED FOR THE DISH!
Please rethink this menu item
Had an amazing time and dinner at Bol. I wasn't sure what to expect because the restaurant has a bowling alley as well and I couldn't imagine that the food would be that great. Well I was unbelievably surprised. Bol serves fun, unique dishes that most foodies would approve of. They also have a great wine list and creative drink menu. Service was outstanding and the ambiance was great fun. They also have a children's menu that is reasonably priced but offers other items than the typical chicken fingers and burgers. Bol is a must when traveling in Vail.
Love this place for a group that loves food and likes to bowl. You can order delicious food and then go bowling in a very cool atmosphere. My only complaint was the fish we ordered was very "fishy" smelling and not the freshest. The appetizers were yummy. The Pumpkin Fritters and Tuna Tartar were excellent. The pizza was great and the Gnocchi very good but a pretty small portion for an entree. All in all I recommend this place if you are skiing in Vail and want a fun night out.
We had 9:30 pm reservations to bowl, so figured we'd make it easy and eat at Bol, the restararaunt. We ended up sitting at the bar, and had a fantastic experience. The bartenders were all very attentive, helpful with food selections, and never let our plates or drinks go empty! The food itself was much better than I expected, the small plates were tasty (pork buns, lamb tbone bite, kobe carpaccio and the grilled artichoke) and the autumn gnocchi entree was superb. The food was presented beautifully and we digested while watching snowboard videos at the bar before bowling. For Vail, the prices were average. Definitely recommend!
Let's start with the cocktail order. 2 drinks and 2 draft beers were ordered. The cocktails came right out, and the server said the tap on the beer needed to be changed. after 20 minutes, he came back and said that wouldn't work and we'd need to order something else, which we did. I watched the bartender make the next 2 coctails, and then they sat on the bar for another 10 minutes without being served.
Then our dinner entrees came out. We asked about our appetizers (ordered with drinks). He forgot them. Next salads came out. Last were the apps. So the food came out backwards, apps last, dinner entrees first. No apology, no comp, nothing. Having been a server and bartender in vail for 10+ years myself, this was very poor form.
We had our three pre-teen and teen-aged kids with us and figured we'd better not go somewhere too upscale, as they wouldn't appreciate it. We very pleasantly surprised by Bol! It's a bowling alley restaurant, so we weren't expecting much--and boy, were we wrong! It's an upscale bowling alley--new, sleek, and modern. The restaurant is well separated from the lanes and had great ambience and a lovely bar area. The service was great and the food was top-notch with choices for an adult palate as well as nice selections for the younger guests. We're from DC and we eat out a lot, we're familiar with good restaurants--Bol was very good considering it's in a tourist town and is a bowling alley. We'd recommend it and would eat there again!
My family and I truly enjoyed our first experience at Bol. The menu choices are diverse, new and interesting and the quality and taste of the food was superb. Food came quickly. Our only complaint and it is a big one, is that the wine we ordered with our meal was delivered after we had almost finished the food and our coffee was delivered to the table after we had finished our dessert. We did not complain about the wine but sent the coffee back. Our waitress apologized and explained to us that she did not have time to make the French press coffee so she had someone else make it and they were slow. Not sure why she shared that info with us as, in the end, the only thing that matters is good service by all employees at the restaurant.
They desperately need to adjust the volume.
If they want a dance club they shouldn't try to make it a dinner place too
The music was deafening
(And I am not and old person -- was with a group in 20s and 30s it was obnoxious
Place is also very expensive for what they deliver
The food was actually very good - not just for a restaurant with a (chic) bowling alley. The service was atrocious. Our waitress brought my boyfriend the wrong drink (excusable) and when he said "this is the wrong drink" she shrugged and walked away! Then they tried to clear our plates while my fork was en route to my mouth. Twice. Very rude. They need new management. Again, the food was really good. Such a shame.
were very disappointed as we had made reservations and upon arrival with our two children, were showed to a table right by the door (it was 8 degrees outside!) and next to the busy bar where people were standing. We couldn't even get to the table due to the crowd! After expressing our displeasure of the table location, we were brought into the main dining area and STILL sat next to the busy bar. Note: there were several empty tables available, including nice booths. We were sat at a plastic table with plastic chairs. My husband kept getting run into by patrons during our entire meal. When we complained to the manager, she made excuses, refused to do anything for us and tried to blame us for not telling her sooner. Would not go back!
After looking at many reviews, I booked dinner and bowling at Bol Restaurant for our Vail trip. Modern decor, friendly staff, delicious food (especially considering half of it is a bowling alley!). We had the spicy tuna tartare and chicken skewers appetizers, and the NY strip steak and the margherita pizza for mains. All FANTASTIC! Since it is the off season they had great deals on bottles of wine. Needless to say all this gorgeous food and wine prepped us well for the one hour of bowling we had booked. Very much on the pricey side ($50 per hour per lane plus shoe rental...decent for a group, expensive for a couple) although at that point we didn't really care! Overall a wonderful evening that was one of the highlights of our Vail trip.
For a resteraunt with a limited menu you would think their food would be on point. In reality for the price the food is average. A couple of friends ordered the salmon and it was not cooked one had theirs returned to the kitchen only to have the second one not be as good for their wait they got some chips. When asked if they had any sauce for the steak they replied no it doesn't need any. I so wanted the food to be good.
Unfortunately, I was at Bol during the off season so most of the menu that I had seen on OT was not available. However, the food that we did have was very good and very reasonably priced. Also, if anyone is worried about the noise from the bowling alley, the way it's laid out, you barely notice it. All in all, a fine experience.
