Bohanan's Prime Steaks and Seafood Ratings and Reviews
Rich was our attendant. He was magnificent. Right blend of top notch service, good conversation without being to pushy. We ordered the petite fillet and chargrilled shrimp, with side of Mac and cheese and tortilla soup. Everything was served hot and to perfection except the Mac and cheese was a tad runny. Nothing overly concerning though. Will happily return.
We drove from Dallas to experience this highly recommended location.
What a wonderful experience.
Great atmosphere, service and food.
My boyfriend ordered the Miyazaki Ribeye (imported from Japan) it totally tasted like Ribeye flavored buttah......oh, so melt in your mouth.
I ordered the Akaushi Filet Mignon (Texas raised cattle of Japanese heritage) it was delicious.
We order medium rare and it was perfect.
Thank you Gabriel and Abel for your service, you helped make our celebration night great.
Given that my two previous visits to Bohanan’s were extremely disappointing due to our food not being served in a timely fashion...despite having early reservations (5:30 and 5:45 respectively), placing our orders almost immediately after being seated, and advising we were going to a 7:30 show we did not receive our entrees until after 7:00...I’ve been very hesitant to dine there again. However, I decided to take a chance and reserved a table for 5:00 (for an 8:00 p.m. concert) for Friday night, Jan. 19th. Unfortunately, traffic was horrendous and we were quite late. I had called to advise of our delay and was pleasantly surprised when I was told it would be no problem as most places typically only hold the table for 15 minutes on busy nights. That definitely set a positive tone for the evening.
We had the same waiter as my last visit and he went out of his way to make sure everything went smoothly on this occasion. I am happy to report that we did receive our meals in plenty of time to enjoy them instead of having to wolf them down or not being able to finish. We even had time for dessert! So, I will happily return to dining at Bohanan’s!
We came here to celebrate our staycation and my husband’s birthday. I wanted a local (rather than chain) place known for its steaks. From the hostesses, to busses, servers our experience was FANTASTIC! Our server , DJ, took the time to gently ask us to reconsider our initial dinner selection in favor of some dishes that Bohanan’s does like no one else. We had the 24 oz ribeye , steak fries...which he described as “stellar”, sautéed spinach and portabella mushrooms. We also had the shrimp cocktail for an appetizer ....everything was phenomenal! My husband had 2 Jameson sours , that he raved about. The atmosphere was cozy as we had a private booth. The service experience was impressive and welcoming. We loved our night here and look forward to coming back to this San Antonio gem.
A stunning disappointing experience. Water was poured and I requested ice. A complimentary appetizer was served. It was a spicy dish which I could not try. We ordered appetizers. The tuna was wonderful. The oysters were spicy with no warning on the menu. Then the wait came. The ice cubes and bread were dropped like an after thought. We were sharing a nice bottle of wine which we were on our own with , no one came to refill our glasses. After over an hour with no entrees or service we flagged down a server and said give us a bill, this is unacceptable. All of a sudden there was a flurry of activity at our table. We were so over this negative experience all we wanted was to settle the bill and leave. A lovely manager came over and after hearing our experience apologized and insisted on comping the bill. We came to eat not to feel humiliated for poor service, not to mention hungry
Overall, our experience was great! Rick was our server and he and his team tried all they could to make it a great experience. We sat by the windows overlooking Houston St. across from the Majestic Theater...it was a great table and we highly recommend sitting there; except during the winter. It's an old building, so since it was cold outside, it was a bit chilly in that particular eating area. The servers did bring out a space heater, but it didn't work very well ("A" for effort). Recommend new space heaters. As for the fare, the food was phenomenal!! 5 STAR rating from us! I had the Sea Bass and my wife had the Red Snapper...both fresh, cooked to perfection, and delicious! We topped off the meal with the Pecan Pie Ala mode...absolutely divine and worth it to switch out the vanilla bean for cinnamon ice cream to pair it with. We look forward to our next visit to Bohanan's! Thank you for a GREAT experience!
Walked across the street from the Majestic Theater for a wonderful place to drink and eat pre/post Theater. Arrived prior to reservation time and had drinks in which the bar setting was quiet and comfortable. Restaurant Staff attentive to every need. Steaks were excellent as previous visits revealed.
Great place to dine! Extensive drink menu featuring large selection of all types wines, liquors and beer! Amazingly sounding dinner menu made it difficult in choosing what to order! The server, Jose, was very accommodating and informative. He took the time to bring out a display of all their different cuts of beef with a detailed explanation of each, especially their Japanese cuts. Also, the crab cake was extremely delicious! Unfortunately, we didn’t have room for desert. Would definitely recommend!
Bohanan's is always great! While it is not the cheapest, I feel it is a better value than places that might be half as much. It is very consistent, as the food and service have always been top notch. Additionally, all of the sides are very very good, and they just don't rely on the main course impress patrons.
Bohanan’s was recommended to us by our hotel, Hotel Valencia, and was in easy walking distance which was fantastic and even more important since the temp outside was unseasonably cold. The restaurant is fabulous in every aspect, impeccable service, delicious food, wonderful atmosphere in an historic building featuring rich dark woodwork. A memorable experience well worth the cost.
