Steakhouse
This exclusive steak house is a quiet reprieve from the hustle and bustle of Downtown Crossing and the raucous jm Curley in which it is hidden. To find this 16 seat eatery enter at jm Curley, strut to the back of the bar room and duck behind the red velvet curtain above which a sign proclaims Adults Only- no cell phone use. While jm Curley is large, loud and casual, Bogie's is a civilized, rarefied dining room that feels like a private club. Expect sumptuous booths, jazz and gracious service. Bogie's is the anti-steak house. Chef Adam avoids most of the usual tropes, instead opting for nightly improvisations around the ever changing interpretations of dishes like foie gras, caviar, potato, wedge and of course beef. The beverage program by is as contrarian as the food. The wine list has about 20 red and 20 white, the beer list is enormous and compelling, and the cocktails focus on perfecting drinks like the French 75, Remember the Maine and the Sazerac.

Staff was not to friendly about the fact I had to sign in at the front of the restaurant. Waiter was much more attentive to other tables.

The steak I ordered wasn’t available. The replacement option was a worse steak for the same price. Switched to a different steak, came out way over cooked. The restaurant is hidden in JM Curley behind a curtain. Better off staying in JMC for better food at a lower price.

This is a great little gem, hidden away from screaming children and obnoxious people on their phones. This is the perfect place to go if you hate crowds and love a dark romantic space. A peaceful dinner alone here would be great too! Music was fantastic and appropriate for the setting.

Second time coming here for a fancy dinner. It is amazing food and service. We had a great meal and server that night as always. Even with small space there was no pressure to finish and pay.

Great quiet find in the city and location to theaters. Food was fantastic. Very knowledgeable waiter Kevin. Bone marrow app was delicious. The clam chowder with bacon was very rich with just the right amount of smoked flavor. The filets were seasoned very well and cooked perfectly. The Mac n cheese had a sweet flavor of carmelized onions. Would highly recommend

The truth is, we had high expectations for this place. Unfortunately it felt a bit flat. We liked that it's a hidden place, a speakeasy-like steakhouse. That was a cool factor for the birthday guy. We also like the cocktail "show." Cart was pushed out cocktail was made in glass skull and then smoke was pumped and the lit on with flash fire. Very cool and tastey, although the same drink did not taste the same. Still good. Then for the main dish, steaks. We had a filet mignon and porter house with some side dishes. Everything was going nicely until the steaks. They came to our table OVER SEASONED! Trust me, the bday guy like salt AND the fact the steaks were over seasoned even to him, that says alot. He returned his, I kept mine, but have to trim off the surface. So disappointing! Come on, it a steak specialty place and they screwed up! But at last, they gave us a dessert with candle for the birthday boy. That was nice. Service was great. We would probably go back and give it another try... but we'll see.

Amazing experience at Bogies place. It is the only speak-easy like steakhouse in Boston that I have attended. Very cool ambiance, professional service, and great cocktails+food. The bartender and waitress was very knowledgeable and made amazing cocktails. Highly recommend for a special occasion, or just a night out in an intimate, unique setting.

A different experience. Staff was excellent. Food and drink were delicious. Throw back to the speak easy era, change of pace that allowed for enjoying a great meal and one's company.

This is a hidden gem -- love that it was an actual speakeasy back in the day. We had an amazing meal and excellent service by Camille on a Friday night. Thank you! You rock, my friend. And we will be back -- bringing fun friends!!

Ordered the Filet, Tomahawk, and Strip steaks and all were completely over-salted, especially the Filet. We tried to give some honest feedback but our waiter was not really interested in listening. We were disappointed to see such nice cuts of meat be ruined by so much salt.

Kettle one martini tasted like Stoli raspberry Steak was over cooked. Greasy fried Brussels sprouts. Mushroom side and bone marrow were just ok. Fish was dry. Don’t bother. There are much better places to go.

This is not a speakeasy. It’s a curtain over a hallway that is the entrance to a narrow room. There are only ~20 bottles of liquor, and the bartender/server didn’t know how to make any drinks we asked for (and didn’t have basic bottles anyway.) He said all he knew how to make was a Negroni or a Manhattan, neither of which we like. He was very arrogant, loudly stating to another table that he “hates California reds, it just tastes like juice” - even though the wine list is 80% just that, and immediately after we’d ordered an expensive bottle of CA red. He also was incredibly rude to a couple who wandered in without a reservation. He blocked them with a stiff arm and snidely asked “Can I help you??” (even though it was apparent that they had wandered in) and then proceeded to kick them out by rudely telling them “We’ll, You’re going to have to leave. This is a private room.” Twice. But the food was good.

Fun to go to a "secret" restaurant! This tiny back room is a great concept. Not much int he wya of ambiance or decor...would benefit from a big chandeleir in the center. The food was good. Super charcuterie board, steak was cooked to perfection and def better than Abe & Louise or Capital. The service needs some work. Our waiter was lovely and entertaining but timing was terrible. Each course was rushed, plates literally being removed as forks were going into mouths with another bite with no time between course. We hit it on a bad night. Refrigerators had broken so the champagne we wanted was not available and the much highlighted dessert that we looked forward to was also not available. Wine list should be improved to match what they are trying to do here, no great choices. I'd certainly go back though, it was fun with good food.

The food was delicious as I had read on a review which prompted me to try it. The entrance through a burger bar was quite odd and the eclectic ambiance was a bit creepy. This alone would prevent me from recommending the restaurant to others or returning soon as there are so many options in Boston. The server was fantastic.

This restaurant is over priced in terms of both food, service and location.

On arrival we were offered seats at the bar in the passageway despite booking. No apologies for this. No offer of a free drink.

Food was lukewarm, if not cold. Not fine dining by any means. Wine very average and way overpriced.

Service was ordinary at best. Too much talking by the waiter.

Never again.

This was a lovely experience. The ambience was lovely and it was quite intimate since it was a 20-seat speakeasy. The background music was louder than it needed to be. The food was good but when we ordered our steaks, both were just medium rare rather than what my partner actually wanted. The chips were also a little soggy when we got it.

Absolutely amazing. We ordered the ny strip and the filet mignon both were cooked to perfection. We also got the easy Mac and sweet potato fries both were also excellent. Absolutely will be back, love the semi private/speakeasy atmosphere at Bogie’s. Our server Kamil was also stellar.

Our party of 4 all raved about the food, even 2 days later! I have food allergies and was able to make note of that on the Open Table reservation. Bogie's Place had popcorn with olive oil prepared instead of rolls wedge rosemary truffle pomme frites, grilled asparagus, fried brussel sprouts, mac and for dinner the Tomahawk, rack of lamb, filet, and a salmon special. Lots of fantastic food!

This was such a great find! My wife and I came here for a celebration and were not disappointed. The food was wonderful, I had steak and my wife ordered the lamb. I was happy with my steak and then I tried the lamb- it was excellent... I'll be getting that next time. The attentive service and very quant setting really made the experience for us.

Took my girlfriend for her birthday. The ambiance was amazing. Dark lighting, only 4 tables, real speakeasy vibe. The cocktails were impressively creative and the food was incredible. They don’t allow cell phones, which is nice for staying in the moment but unfortunate for trying to capture the moment in a photo. Would’ve appreciated just a quick pic in the perfect lighting.

We succumbed to the hype and booked a table when a friend was visiting. On paper the concept sounds great but in reality it is just okay. The most frustrating part is that you can hear the noise and music that is pumping in Curley's. It clashes with the music and speakeasy vibe that Bogie's is going for. They need more than a curtain to separate the two spaces. Though the steaks are well seasoned they are cut rather thin. Also the wine list for a steak based menu is anemic at best. If you want steak there are far better options in Boston that have a more intimate vibe for the price.
