Everything was perfect for lunch today. The atmosphere was wonderful and it was packed. Everyone was so happy enjoying their wonderful meals. They had a very extensive menu with great dishes to chose from. Besides the meal, what really impressed us was how the manager was everywhere making sure that all his guests were happy. With his expertise and pride he took in his restaurant it is no wonder that we had a superb meal. I must go back and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants an exceptional meal.

I had high expectations for BOE as it got great reviews online, but was disappointed. The food was good and we were able to take advantage of the restaurant week menu. The service was TERRIBLE - our waitress did not tell us certain things were not available on a Sunday. We decided what we wanted and waited 15 minutes for our waitress to come and take our order, only to tell us that those items were not available that day. She also took a while to get our check, and even forgot about it the first time we asked, so we had to ask twice. Food was good, but not good enough to make up for the bad service.

The food was outstanding! The only complaint I can make is the banana bread pudding didn't have the banana flavor I was looking for. The dessert as a whole with the rum raisin ice ceam and brulee banana was good though.

A large of rowdy ladies getting for a friends good-bye. We wlked in with more people than we reserved for; not only did they accommodate they didn't even hesitate to accommodate us.

The drinks were beyond and the food amazing to say the least...there are no words to describe how hevenly the lobster mac and cheese was and how delectable and tender the short ribs are!

Great night out with girls for a great meal and over the top drinks!

Friday lunch during restaurant week. Food was fair on average. Had the mac n cheese appetizer, came out lukewarm, bland and dipping sauce was not desirable. Next course was sweet tea lacquered salmon with chili grits. Yet, nowhere was there any mention that the dish contained cilantro. As someone who finds cilantro tastes like dish soap, this was highly disappointing. Server did not come back until he brought dessert, so I was unable to explain why I had not eaten any of the side dish. Finally, the dessert more than redeemed the entrée and appetizer, the chocolate torte with brandied cherries was amazing. Overall, an okay experience, but nothing to write home about.

Great experience and loved the ambiance! The staff was so accommodating and friendly. I didn't know what to expect with the cabin/rustic-like ambiance, but the it was a pleasant surprise!

BOE (formerly Oya) is definitely not Oya, but still has a nod to the sushi/tempura specialties that Oya was known for. However, the menu is more distinct - we ordered what can be described as falafel sliders, hummus, salmon, sushi, and some sweets as part of their restaurant week lunch menu - they were all excellent. Jose, our server, was beyond solid - he made the experience truly memorable. While the decor is now more "log cabin/rustic" compared to the modern Oya vibe, you will find the quality is on point!

My family and I loved Oya and looked forward to BOE however, BOE falls flat. We went for Sunday brunch and walk into disco blaring through the speakers. Not great for conversation. I had the fried chicken and kimchee donut, thinking this was their takr in the chicken and waffle. The chicken was very good, but the kimchee donut was terrible. The texture of the donut and rhe taste were not pleasant at all. My daughter ordered the sticky sweet chicken wings, which arived with a hair on it. The manager was great, gr remembered my family and I from Oya and took great care of that issue. Had it not been for him, I would have given BOE a lower rating.

Four of us selected BOE because of its location, having no idea what a wonderful experience was ahead of us. The food was excellent, and the ambience was quite a surprise, with a feeling of our being in a mountain lodge. Our server was attentive and knew the menu very well. Among the four of us we tried lots of small and large plates, and everything was excellent. I recommend this to anyone.

My girlfriend and I visited ate at BOE for the first time Friday (7.29.16) since it was transformed from Oya. We ordered a bunch of items from the Small Plates menu and overall the food was delicious. Particularly, we both thought the sliders were amazing. The service was also quite good but the noise level was a little high for us because we were seated at a table very close to the bar. There were quite a few people exclaiming at the bar. Aside from the noise level we had a great experience and will most likely be returning.

Took visiting friends here after I had a great experience at its predecessor, Oya. We were all intrigued if not confused by the decor which is an odd blend of American lodge and cherry blossom springs. The bar was very lively and the dining area delightfully quieter. We took forever to choose what to order because there were so many interesting options, but everyone was sold on the bottomless drinks for $19. The prix fixe menu was good value at $29 for dinner, and the options were all tasty. I would return for the food, but probably not for the decor. Server was outstandingly patient with us. Wine list was limited to a verbal description of 'local' (meaning non-imports) house varieties.

We went here for my birthday dinner and were not disappointed. I had not been at this location since it was Oya and was relieved to see that the decor was just as eye-catching as the former. How one makes "rustic" glamorous, I'm not sure, but they did it. Also, the food was delicious. The only trouble we had was getting seated after being at the bar waiting for a few people to arrive. They told us to alert them when we were ready, but even after the second mention no one came. We were seated on the third try. In their defense, they were preparing for a huge party that would essentially shut the whole restaurant down to the public for the rest of the night. Our waiter apologized to us quite a few times and thanked us for being persistent. It was not really a big deal, just an awkward process. Overall, a great space for eating and for those (like me) who take particular note of the restroom area, it is a total win. Good job. Thank you BOE for a great birthday experience!

Overall the experience was a good for it being the first time my boyfriend and I dined here, but not one of the best. I have friends that dined here for brunch as well a few months ago, but the experience seemed quite different; not in a bad way. The dj seemed to play a mixture of music at a low yet decent level, but I did not pay attention to it much. As for the food, the flavor needs improvement and portions could be a little bigger for the asking price. The hostess and wait staff were very personable and checked on us periodically. Best part about brunch may've been the French toast and bottomless mimosas.

Log cabin interior with the Vegas mirrored center column a bit strange, but everything we ordered was inventive and delicious, the service was friendly if needing a tad more polish, and the wine list featured good selection and values. We'd go back.

The decor, the ambiance, the service were all superior. This is hands down my favorite restaurant in DC because it provides an exceptional experience without price gouging their customers. You have to the grilled octopus!!!!! So tender, with a bit of char. My husband ordered the crispy snapper and I had the glazed salmon. They were both spectacular. Please save room for dessert, you won't be sorry. We ordered the banana bread pudding (I think). I'm not a big banana fan but this sent me over the moon.

I went for an early lunch with some friends to BOE! I can honestly say that not only is the ambiance so unique and pretty, but the food is unusual in the best way. I ordered the BOE Protein Bowl with a side of truffle fries (because why not) and I am telling you- these fries are unreal. Flavor in both of my items were bursting and I can't wait to come back for brunch!

The décor is very weird - it feels like a log cabin inhabited by wealthy giants. Like the couple on Green Acres built it together by compromise:

"Well if it has to be a log cabin darling, then at least may we have chandeliers and 20-foot ceilings please?"

"OK, but only if we can hang my stunning collection of dead animal skulls and horns."

"Fine."

Several of us had the protein bowl salad. Waaaaaaay to salty. Painfully so. Several did not finish their salads. We should have sent them back.

I’d say the mac n cheese bites were decent and I liked my dessert as well as the presentations of both of those items (although there are those in our group who commented about the frustrating trend of ice cream served on a plate).

Not a bad price for lunch in the city if you get the prix fixe.

While the food is really pretty good, with service to match, this is truly one of the more bizarrely decorated restaurants in DC. The former Oya, which was white and clean and had a great fireplace, is now a plastic (really) log cabin. It's like eating in a barn. Someone had the less than brilliant idea of installing a huge fake window with fake foliage so you are supposed to think you're looking out of this horrid log cabin into a forest. Truly weird and misguided.

I have been to BOE twice for lunch over the past two months. The decor is beautiful, with the restaurant decked out like a log cabin. The window with fake foliage behind it is especially cute. I really enjoy the general atmosphere of this restaurant. I would come back for happy hour in the future as the bar area has similar log cabin-esque decor and looks looks spacious with comfortable seating. The wait staff on both occasions were attentive and friendly.

They have a lunch prix fix menu where you get 3 courses (appetizer, entree, and dessert) for $19. My first time here I got an octopus and squid appetizer (SO WONDERFUL) and a trout with sweet potatoes entree (also REALLY good with a great flavor combination). Sadly, they changed their menu and those two items were no longer on the menu when I came for lunch again. :(

My second lunch I had gazpacho for my appetizer... i wasn't all that impressed with their version. First of all, it was warm, unlike traditional gazpacho. Second, it was too thick of a consistency. It was more like a thick tomato soup. The flavor was fine (not really like a gazpacho though), just nothing I'd care to try again. One of my friends got the mac and cheese bites. While the bites themselves were slightly bland (we were hoping for more cheesiness), the truffle chive aioli was wonderful. I could smell the truffle fries from another table and it made me want to try them. For my entree I got the sweet tea lacquered salmon with green chili grits. The salmon had a good flavor and the grits were slightly spicy, but also pretty good. I would get this dish again. Two of my friends got the short rib tempura sushi roll which they both said was wonderful and they'd definitely get it again. For dessert I got the banana bread pudding. I generally like bread pudding and was not disappointed with their version. I would get this again.

I plan on coming back and trying more things. I wish they would bring back some of the dishes they took off the menu.

The truffle fries was only thing worth eating. We ordered a sushi roll that had mango and the mango was completely not ripe and hard and tasteless. We also ordered the mussels and it had that REALLY bad "fish smell." The two cocktails were great and the service was good but honestly the food was terrible. We left hungry and went to another restaurant to complete our date.
