Good food. Service was prompt but not overly friendly.
The food is really good and authentic spanish tapas although the price is a bit expensive for the quantity of food.
There was a bit of a language barrier with the waiter. Other then that all was well.
Service and attention to detail from the hostess stand to the server herself were lacking. Checked in at the chaotic hosted stand which had three people “in charge” and none doing their job - received a “no show” email because they didn’t clear my reservation. Told that bread was coming after pouring oil, yet it never came until we asked 10 minutes later. Water never refilled without asking.
As for the food it was delicious. Pane Catalana with Manchego with the Pear & Walnut salad with honey vinaigrette was a perfect cold beginning. Croquetas de pollo, tortilla espanola and green beans with almonds hit the spot for the hot course. Topped off with Crema Catalana for dessert. Delicious in spite of the service issues.
This really is an authentic Tapas restaurant in the very nice area of Georgetown, staff were very attentive and the variety of Tapas dishes was outstanding.
A bit too loud
Very disappointed. We have previously enjoyed dining at Bodega, but last Friday was terrible. Despite having booked we were stuck away in a very noisy back room with no atmosphere, the music was so loud we couldn't converse. The food was still OK and genuinely Spanish, but our tapas were brought in the wrong order, meat before fish, and just dumped in the table. The service was slapdash and impersonal.
It will be a long time before we consider going back, and never on a Friday or Saturday.
I don't think they care any more.
The food was delicious.
Great food and atmosphere! Outstanding experience! Enjoyed every minute
The food was just incredible. Great, quick service.
The food was very mediocre for the price and the service was terrible.
Tapas are good. Dancer is good.
However, the paella is awful. We order the one with lobster and several kinds of seafood with $60 (market price). When we try the food, the rice is UNDERCOOKED. The center is totally RAW. We were not happy with that and return the food. The waiter took the food and said that chef will “cook it little bit longer”. Later, when we receive the food again, the rice is cooked. However, I cannot believe that, the chef did not remove the well cooked lobster and shells when sending food back to cook. So they are all OVERCOOKED at this moment.
Overall, the whole paella is a DISASTER. I spent 60 dollar and nearly a hour waiting time to eat both undercooked and overcooked parts in a same dish.
My husband and I are not picky when we go out. We rarely complain and always tip (no matter what). In this case, I have to complain. We will never go back to this place. The service was terrible and the food was gross. We actually said that if Gordon Ramsey from Kitchen Nightmares was here, he would have a field day with this place. Everything we ordered was greasy. The menu wasn't clear on ingredients in the dishes. The waiters were rude and unhelpful. It was noisy and overcrowded. A huge disappointment...
Great food and ambiance
Great food, I’d been wanting to go here for a while but the service left a lot to be desired and normally when it’s busy it’s understandable but a couple seated next to us after us was waited on over 6 times while no one checked on us while we were eating or once we were done, the couple were able to get their checks before us too. We had to go ask for a dessert menu at one point. I’ll think twice about going again only for the food which was really great.
Just a fun place to be. Food was excellent and drinks weee perfect.
Excellent service, food and ambiance.
Romantic dining for 2. Very attentive waiter. Showed up 30 minutes ahead of reservation, but they got us an intimate table. Great date night :)
Average food, poor service, spilled food all over me
Good location, quaint, good service and a nice ambiance. Food was average. I expected a quality seafood paella for what they claimed (and charged). The seafood was way overcooked, and the rice was bland. Maybe they’re not known for their paella, so I’d give them another shot, cuz everything else was decent.
Always solid and reliable. Good selection of tapas and a good chicken/chorizo Paella. Nice casual feeling.
Sam is an outstanding manager at Bodega. Great staff and service
Excellent, authentic tapas in a relaxed setting with friendly service.
This is an enjoyable place for dinner. Started with a pitcher of red sangria which was very good. The pitcher looked small, but the two of us had many rounds of glasses from it. Had the olives and the sardines appetizers, both were delicious. had the seafood paella, which was more than enough for two people. I always try to have dinner here one night when I am in DC.
Food was okay, not great. Shrimp in garlic shrimp tasted farmed. Spanish sausage was nothing special. Spinach dish was tasty, as was short rib stuffed peppers. Bread was very dry. Service was friendly but not very attentive at first. Took a long time for server to come take our order, and it was a slow night.
As usual la bodega gave me a great night of food , drinks and great opportunity to gater with friends while we were waiting for 2018.
Great venue for new years eve. We will definetily be back!
Our New Year's Eve dinner consisted of 4 rounds of tapas, each plate unique and delicious. The staff worked very hard at providing food quickly and clearing quickly as well. Very reasonable for the service and food quality!
We went there for New Year’s Eve and was disappointed in the both the style and quality of the food. Tapas were unimaginative, and the paella was also. The worst was one of our paella dishes had a terrible fishy smell and taste (overpowering) , as if the seafood was spoiling. The dessert seemed like it was prepared way in advance and was also unimaginative. Will not go there again, especially with so many other great offerings in DC.
The food was great! The service was a bit slow/uninterested and the music was in and out but when it was in, it was very loud. The dancer was a nice touch! Overall a fair experience but I think I'll stick with Boqueria for my M Street tapas needs 😊
Music was a little loud but food was so on-point it just didn’t matter. Love that place!
Sangria was very good (red). We had excellent Paella a couple of years ago at Bodega -- not so much this time. Tried the seafood. Not interesting or tasty -- needed vegetables mixed in for flavor. Just thick, starchy and heavy. If I ever go back, will try the vegetable version. Service was lacking (little attention from waiter). But they were busy.
Love the food and the quick service. Will definitely be back!!
I have been a couple of times and they serve my favorite food in the DC area. I will rate the food as amazing, the only problem of the restaurant is the servers. They are not attentive at all, and I mean it. We were trying to ask for the food and he was talking to other people while we were trying to order. I tried to understand that maybe he was busy (even though there were not many people) and waited for a couple of minutes. Then I tried to ask for food and he never even asked if we wanted drinks, so when I tried to add the drinks he left without caring. I would understand if this happened because we did something wrong, but we didn’t even have time to do so, since he never took care of us.
Had I known a flamenco dancer was going to dance right at our table for over an hour I would never have gone here. The guest I took from out of town left the restaurant with a headache likely from the incessant pounding on the floor by the dancer's feet.
I'm all for live music and performance... but Bodega already has a noise problem: adding to that the guitar and vocals of flamenco music AND the almost constant stomping that is a staple of flamenco dance and it was almost impossible to hear. The dancer was literally right behind my guest for long chunks of time.
The performance got in the way of the dining and the noise got in the way of enjoying the evening.
Honestly, not worth the money. The charcuterie board was decent, but the patatas bravas tasted like they dumped buffalo sauce on them. Not a fan.
We ordered 10 different kinds of tapas and they all arrived at the same time. I’ve been to many tapas places and the food is always spaced out throughout the meal. Meal was over way too quickly. Disappointing experience
This is an excellent tapas experience; however, the reviews on open table which say this restaurant is good for "quiet conversation" are misleading. This place was crowded, loud, and raucous, to the point where I couldn't hear the person sitting next to me.
Food was phenomenal, service was on point and the value is reasonable- but this is not a "quiet date night".
Great food. Nic little restaurant in Georgetown. The staff is very friendly.
