   Though I have written several very positive reviews about my most favorite Italian restaurant in the world (and yes, I did say the entire planet) on various review sites, I now find myself writing yet another... So what makes Boccones South the very best Italian restaurant I have ever dined in? Well, of course, the quality of the food would be the most important aspect...right? No, it isn't, though the meal is always, absolutely off the charts! The food here is always fresh, expertly cooked by amazing chefs, and delivered to the table with generous portions and an aroma that fills the senses once the plate is placed before you. And you would think the ambiance would be the best part of coming to Boccones...right? Well, no it isn't, though the restaurant has a small, intimate feel to it -- perfect for bringing a date you wish to impress, a business client or a hungry family. The noise level never exceeds one's ability to have table conversation with friends. Truth is what makes Boccones South the absolute favorite Italian restaurant my friends and I have ever eaten at, is the fact we can call it HOME. We found the restaurant a few years back when it had just opened. Walking into the restaurant we are warmly embraced by its owner, Silvio, who often is about on the floor welcoming his customers. He is one of the most charismatic individuals you will ever meet. Then there's Nicole... Nicole accuses me of writing love letters to her in my reviews. I do. She is the person we look forward to seeing the most. Her warm, inviting personality is what makes our dining experience so special. She knows the complete menu by taste and can expertly recommend whatever your palette desires for the evening. If you are looking to dine here I would highly recommend that you reserve one of her tables. She will make your dining experience memorable.

   Overall food and service were fine. We both ordered specials which were very good, but I was shocked at the bill. Shared salad, two entrees and two ice teas over $100 with tax and tip.

   Excellent traditional Italian food. Been here multiple times over the past 3 years and it’s always consistently superb! The service team is excellent and treats you like family. Don’t miss the opportunity to dine at this terrific BYOB.

   This continues to be our go-to restaurant for a nice meal on a special occasion. It’s not cheap, but it’s always worth it. I’ve never been treated so well at a restaurant that isn’t uptight or pompous. If it’s on special, the Walu (fish) is to die for. But the best advice I can give you: always ask for Nicole, she’s the highlight of our night every single time.

   We had a wonderful time celebrating two birthdays and a couple of other special occasions with our family at this beautiful, friendly restaurant. The service was top notch. My husband was born in Italy and we enjoyed chatting with the chef about the kind and caring people of hubby’s region, Abruzzo. The food was delicious. Warm bread, perfectly done pasta and meats, delicious seafood, and incredible bread pudding (the chef’s special). We went away very happy and will return!

   I was recommended here by someone who works at the South Orange PAC and OMG, just fabulous! THe service was fantastic and it was so nice to have a waitress with a great personality and honesty. So rare that everything is excellent these days and I have to say from beginning to end, we enjoyed everything and can not wait to return. WE Had the goat cheese salad to begin and our homemade pasta dishes were superb. I rarely order pasta but craved it so I had strezzopezzi (may have spelled it wrong) with shrimp, eggplant, vodka sauce, and pesto. The best and leftovers to boot that were better the next day. My friend had another pasta dish, and she raved about it. THe bread pudding dessert with homemade gelato and caramel sauce was also terrific. I have told three people about this restaurant slready and I can not wait to return. THe entire wait staff was attentive at all times and everyone did their jobs. MY one tiny concern was the bread. NOt that it was terrible, but nothing special. HIghly recommend this place and the town is so nice for just walking around.

    The food is always wonderful at Boccone South; original, freshly prepared dishes. The swordfish was perhaps the best I have ever eaten and the accompanying mango salsa was rapturous. My friend had red snapper with asparagus that she loved. I am not a bread pudding fan, but you must try the bread pudding here. The staff at Boccone South is worth the trip even if you weren't eating. They are a warm and caring group that make you feel like a genuinely cared about part of a larger family. Please do not eat here if you need to rush through a meal. Boccone South is a dining experience to be savored. If you give it the time it deserves you will not be sorry. (No, I am not related to anyone there nor am I on the payroll.)
