Bocci's on 7th Ratings and Reviews
I must say I'm not sure That we got their best shot when we went there.
First of all the main guy was very accommodating and friendly when we asked to bump up our reservation. I wish he had been our waiter as it may have gone better.
The restaurant is very cozy and small and the menu pretty decent and priced affordably.
The problem was that we got a waitress who immediately informed us that she only worked there once every 7 years or so ? She could not answer a single question about the menu and she botched up one of our orders despite going to get something to write on when we ordered . Three of the people in our group were satisfied with their meal , but my wife and I both ordered crab raviolis and couldn't detect any crab.
Come to think of it the waitress may have butchered our order too.
One person ordered old school lasagne and she brought out chicken?
As much as we'd like to return I'm not sure we would without some incentive.
very nice Fixed Price menu Friday/Saturday -- a lot of delicious food for the price. The only thing that was surprisingly not up to par was the wine list. Perhaps the proprietors don't drink... very boring and narrow in range of selections, all set at similar prices. Plan ahead for parking --
Service is very friendly and the overall appearance of the restaurant is inviting. The food is OK but not great. The booths are remarkably uncomfortable. The benches make the most rustic pews seem luxurious by comparison and the position of the bench relative to the table is designed to accommodate the grossly obese so thinner people will need to sit on the very edge of the bench to comfortably reach the food.
The food is plentiful and affordable with three course meal that is on $20 per person. Quite a bargain. The antipasto plate was average with a mozzarella cheese that was bland. The other salad was very good tomato, basil and mozzarella drizzled with olive oil. The ravioli was above average but the sauce was heavy. The meatballs were ok with a tomato sauce that was just ok. In both main courses there was just too much food. For dessert we had tiramisu and panna cotta that was excellent. The drinks were excellent but the bread was also bland with a very light flavorless olive oil.
The food is simply amazing! You could go to the most expensive restaurant in Portland and pay 10 times more and not have near the quality, service and value! Who knew what was hidden in that unassuming small building. I will find every opportunity to visit for lunch and dinner!
It was great to go back there again for Dinner--always great food--looks like they have more serving help as in the past you could wait some time for food, etc. to arrive. Only a small downside--we said on Open Table we were going there for our anniversary--don't expect or really want some free dessert, etc, but some acknowledgment would have been nice. We will definitely be back.
We love Bocci's, and often eat there when we are celebrating a family event, birthday, graduation, etc. The casual atmosphere, along with the authentic Italian cuisine really create an excellent place for our family to relax and enjoy a great meal. It's kid-friendly, the staff are always very friendly and professional .
Although we had reservations at 7:15, we were not greeted or seated during the time we came through the front door. We waited for 40 minutes without anyone asking us if we needed help and decided to leave. If no one can acknowledge you are waiting at the door, I can only imagine the dinner and service would follow suit. Happy Mother's Day to ME.... It's shame, because I heard great things about this establishment; but lets face it, they can't accommodate their reservations.
Me girlfriends and I will definitely be back to this hidden gem for great food, delightful wine and truly outstanding service. I can't say enough about the wonderful staff; our server was incredibly attentive all night, patient with a late member of our party and gave great recommendations on dishes, while the kitchen made us feel like regulars with warm wishes as we left. A new neighborhood favorite!
This restaurant was close to an event we were attending. We were promptly seated in a cozy booth. Asked our server about wine and she had no idea about the small wine list. We took a chance as they were all about the same price. Enjoyed our meals, but would have liked to have had a candle on our table for some light and a better ambiance. Seems like a little personality would take this place to the next level.
Overall the food was too salty. Pork was dried out from being over cooked. Needed extra sauce to wash it down. Wife's fish was dry as well, again needing extra sauce to make it reasonable to finish. Flavors were very good, except for the over saltiness. If Bocci's can back off on the salt, it would be easy to recommend returning. Anybody can add salt to a meal.
This is the real locavore destination, worth more than all the current pretentious and dismissive dining you can fit in a designer doggie bag. Because I'm a local and here's what true Oregonians crave: Delicious, vibrant, fresh food, beautifully prepared, exceptional value, served with kindness and professionalism. That's Bocci. We're going to be regulars. Only wish there were more stars to give.
I went with my fiance and her daughter (16). The bread was fresh and tasty. The fried mozz was the best I've ever had. Really beyond good! The chicken parm was also, by far, the best I've ever had. We eat Italian at least twice per month and this one is a new favorite. The prix fix menu selection was phenomenal for only $30. No way you could everything on your plate. The service was a bit slow but everything came out hot and the server was attentive and friendly.
Amazing meal. Wish I could go every night. Their homemade bread reminded me of a light cake. The wine was perfect and I'd eat the lamb everyday if I could. The steak was not their specialty. I ate more of my husbands than my own. Perfect ambiance, not a great amount of parking but had no problems at the early dinner hour.
The service was very slow on a Saturday night, one server for the entire restaurant (30-40 people at a time). The food was sub par, it took a very long time to receive it and then it tasted like out of the can marinara sauce and frozen foods reheated. The ambiance was loud and old school Americana Italiana decor. I wouldn't come back here unless there was a radical upgrade.
