Bocaito Ratings and Reviews
I heard about bocaito as one of the best spanish restaurant in the area.
I went there on a friday night with my husband...what a disappointment!
I asked for croquetas de bacalao... they did not have any taste of bacalao! they were really creamy with no taste at all.
My husband mentioned it to the owner. he came back to us to say that we were right. They had a bad batch of croquetas. THAT'S IT.
So what? I have to pay for croquetas de bacalao without bacalao? Paying for a bad batch?
Even if we ate it, we were at least hoping for a discount or a dessert, coffee...but nothing.
The main was solomillo cabrales. Ok but not exceptional...
The most important thing for me is the service, the waitress was good but I'm disappointed about the reaction of the owner. It could have been a bad batch, I would have been happy about the owner offering us something else.
I don't think I will come back.
We reserve a 5 star rating for a WOW experience and that's what Bocaito delivered this evening.
The restaurant space is not large- which is great for the ambiance. Service was terrific with the owner personally attending to our table, and the food is the best of all. Every dish (we did multiple tapas) outdid the previous making the food the highlight of them all- as it should be!
We will definitely be back for more.
I went to Bocaito a couple nights ago, on a recommendation from a friend. I am pleased to say my trip to Bocaito was excellent. The scenery brought to mind a authentic tapas restaurant in Spain. The servers were extremely helpful and accommodating. To begin we tried some delcious meatball, tortilla Española and some artichokes! For the main entree we had some delicious grouper topped off in a fried garlic sauce, as well as a filet mignon with delicious cheese sauce. It was a great dining experience and I hope to visit again soon!
Delicious food with extremely attentive staff in a casual setting. Tapas are a must. Croquetas are creamy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Try the bacalao ones (Cod fish). Also loved their cold shrimp tapas called "salpicon de marisco". Succulent large shrimp with finely diced tomatoes and onions. Add a couple of pieces of their warm crusty bread and you are in for a treat. We liked this dish so much that went ahead and ordered another shrimp tapas. This time a hot one where the shrimp were complemented with carmelized garlic, olive oil and artichokes. Delicious. Good selection of wines at reasonable prices too. It's like a little piece of Spain in the neighborhood. I'm coming back soon. Sheros
We've been to many tapas restaurants and this one impressed with reasonably priced good food, great variety, plentiful wine list (specially wines from Spain, Argentina and Chile) and very personal and friendly service. The owner chef can be seen working in the kitchen, so you know the dishes are being prepared exactly as he wants them, which is a good thing in this case. This restaurant serves all the traditional Spanish tapas as well as many entrees. We've been here a couple of times with company and all we've ordered has been good, so pick what you like and chances are that you will be pleased.
Great find, when in to entertain out of town guests, and we all absolutely loved the food, service and overall experience. We tried the Tapas (6 different dishes) and even though I am not a fish lover, I will go back just for the cod stuffed red peppers. My absolute favorite!!! So happy to have found this family oriented spot :)
i had enjoyed many wonderful Cuban meals during my visit to Miami for business and I was interested in something a little different. Spanish tapas are always fun and I was immediately drawn to the five stars rating I saw OpenTable reviewers gave Bocaito.
Owner Diego met me at the door, greeted me and made me feel welcomed. I had a couple of glasses of a Tempranillo he suggested and asked him to send a few tapas out that I might enjoy. He quizzed me on my likes and disappeared to the kitchen, soon returning with a great chorizo. I was surprised how plentiful the plates were that evening. I also had the shrimp and a lightly breaded fish...and I was stuffed.
Everything about Bocaito was excellent. The staff and nearby patrons were warm and friendly, exchanging positive comments about their selections. I was the only out-of-towner! Diego brought me some awesome plates that far exceeded the size I was used to seeing in a tapas place, and everything tasted great.
Thank you, OpenTable users for steering me right!
It's time to revisit Bocaito again, a neighborhood gem, with great service and excellent food. Seems to be under new management and some of the changes are very noticeable. You now have your tables very neatly set up with white linen and serviced by super attentive waitresses. Space seems bigger and more comfortale now that the middle wall has been removed. Same chef, but some new dishes. Love their shrimp and artichoke tapas. cooked in fresh olive oil, garlic and herbs. Croquetas de bacalao are super creamy and delicious. Fresh fish entrees are worth ordering. Share all and enjoy multiple plates. I'm going back. Sheros.
FANTASTIC PLACE FOR A GOURMET SPANIAL FOOD
SERVICE IS OK, THE OWNER IS VERY AWARE OF EVERY ONE
MY HUSBAND AND I WERE THERE WITH SOME EUROPEAN FRIENDS THAT INTENT TO COME BACK WITH THEIR FAMILY.
THERE ARE NO PLACE IN MIAMI THAT CAN OFFER SUCH A FINE DINE - ON WHAT REFFERS TO FOOF FROM SPAIN
WE HAD FABULOUS EXPERIENCE ON THE SANGRIA AND ON ENTRE AND DINNER
THE LIST OF WINE IS SHORT BUT YOU DONT NEED MORE THAN WHAT THE BACALAITO CAN OFFER,
Wow, the place was bustling! We were lucky to get a table. I love bringing out-of-town friends here: they're always blown away. The food is so amazing. Please don't order the calamares a la plancha: I want them all, and I don't want to share! And those artichokes with shrimp are spectacular. Yum Yum. Bocaito will never let you down.
My friends and I tried to come up with an alternative idea, since we figure Bocaito will get tired of seeing us all the time, but we seriously could not think of anywhere we liked as well, so we headed back here, and we were not disappointed. The shrimp and artichokes were outstanding-- we ordered them twice; the squid in ink were fantastic. As always, the service was friendly but elegant. There's really no better place in town. Thanks Bocaito!
This is our favorite restaurant in town, hands-down. The food is always amazing: last night we had insanely good sauteed whole squid, quail in sherry sauce, garbanzos fritos... I love their seared goat cheese, the lamb chops are amazing... whatever you get here is going to be delicious, and it would cost twice as much if the restaurant were anywhere else in town. The family who runs the place are soooo nice, and the service is always impeccable (but also warm and friendly). They've just started having a guitarist play live on the weekends, which adds another great element. I'd rather eat here than anyplace else I can think of in Miami. I"m not sure why it's not always packed, but I kinda enjoy having this secret. Everyone should try it, though.
First time at this delightful restaurant. Can't wait to return! Every dish was better than the next. The service was impeccable, warm, and friendly. The proprietor took care of us personally, recommending all the right dishes and a smart bottle of wine. A delight in every respect. Highest recommendation!
Unfamiliar with the wines on the list our waitress, Adele, assisted us in finding something light & versatile to compliment the meat & seafood dishes we ordered. The octopus was more succulent than I have ever experienced. She was incredibly kind & helped us to order a platter with a better selection of ham, cheese and sausages, I was particularly impressed with how she helped me avoid an ingredient I'm allergic to. Adele also suggested a brilliant artichoke dish that I'm happy we tried. Even the salad we opted for was fresh and fantastic. Then we shared pictures of our dogs! Oh, and we don't speak much Spanish & she didn't speak much English. Our waitress bridged the gap with incredible kindness and tact. I cannot wait to go back.
Please don't go to this place because if you go there you will keep coming back and that won't be good for me. I have gone to this place many times and the food and service is always the same....great! Wine list I'd good and very reasonable. This is a a gem of a place....
It was our first visit to the restaurant. They sat us down right away and the service was ver personable BUT the food was outstanding! We shared a Caldo Gallego soup, una tabla de chorizo, jamon serrano, and manchego - delicious. The best dishes were the pimientos al piquillo and the bacalao dish. We couldn't stop eating!!
It's like a trip to Madrid. The stylish but simple decor is accented by a good selection of Spanish wines on display. The tapas are authentically simple Spanish: no fusion nor nouvelle treatment here. If one is a fan of tapas, this spot is a perfect spot for you. The jamon Ibérico, sopas, and other tapas tidbits are high quality in their preparation. For dessert, leave ESPAÑA behind and order the dessert crème brûlée, which was as wonderful as any one might find in an haute cuisine French restaurant -- delicious!
Service is excellent and so is the food is great. Excellent chef in this neighborhood gem. The codfish croquettes are a "must have". Loved the garlic shrimp and fried garbanzo tapas too. Wanted to have a pork dish, but we couldn't decide on one from the menu so Leticia the waitress asked the chef to create a pork dish for us What a delight! The chef prepared with beautifully seasoned slices of pork with a port wine sauce that was simply delicious. Many good selections of tapas, entrees and of Spanish wines. Had a wonderful red Ribera del Duero called Matin Berdugo. What a pleasant evening. Going back next week!
I thought that i was making reservations at Bocado in Worcester, MA. Not Bocaito in Miami...When I realized my mistake it was too late to cancel the reservation. I hope I haven 't hurt my opentable account. I apologize profusely for the error.
