Having eaten here before I was a disappointed that the restaurant didn’t live up to my previous experiences. The restaurant appeared noisier and less formal than previously and the food whilst good wasn’t again up to what was expected. The steaks however were tasty but my partner was disappointed with the ribeye as it was 50% fat, accepting that marbling is part and parcel of ribeye this was wholly excessive and when this was explained to the waiter he simply looked at us!
My wife & I celebrated Valentine's Day 2017 at Bob's. We enjoyed cocktails before dinner and they were well made and delicious. The filet and included baked potato were wonderful. Service was friendly, attentive, and efficient. Overall, an outstanding dining experience.
Food was very good - appetizers, salads, entrees, and dessert. Service was inattentive — had to ask for a second cocktail when I even placed the empty glass on the edge of the table. Never was offered a wine list. Had to ask for bread. Food was delivered and we never saw anyone until they came to clear our plates. Dinning room was half empty so it wasn’t they were extremely busy. Usually leave a 25% tip and felt bad only leaving 15% but couldn’t justify even that. Don’t think we’ll be returning. Too many other good places to eat with outstanding service in San Francisco.
Superb meal and service. Classic steak and chop house offerings. We were a party of six adults and two little ones. Staff took great care of us.
Bob's is outstanding in so many ways. From a warm welcome from the hostess to the waiter who remembers past orders - Bob's is the best. All the staff is friendly and very attentive. I'm very much looking forward to my next visit.
The business lunch special is a deal. You can’t go wrong ordering it.

We went for the a birthday dinner for my wife. Food and service were top notch
Visited Bob's Steak and Chop House while in San Francisco over new year. Not the cheapest but the food quality and quantity was superb. Both my wife and I had the fillet steak which was cooked to perfection and we both agreed this was one of the best steaks we've ever tasted. The waiting staff were also superb.
If ever back in San Francisco again, we will definitely be coming back.
Wonderful evening , knowledgeable server and fabulous wine list . I would highly recommend. Great for lunch in their bar or dinner.
Our server was great. She was really attentive without being overbearing. She recognized that the steak was not prepared correctly before we even had to mention anything. It is unfortunate that the cooks have no idea how to prepare a steak. They overcooked my wife's steak and mine was flavorless. I substituted the overcooked steak with an overpriced lobster that smelled like the San Francisco piers. My wife decided to eat my steak, which she ate more than half of by the time my lobster arrived.

Steak was very good! However, they need to improve on the presentation of the food. It literally looks like they picked a carrot from the soil and just put it on your plate. It also had a Apple cinnamon glaze on it, not a fan. The bread and butter on the table was underwhelming. Bread didn’t taste good and it was messy. Service was very good but it was slow that night, so that should be expected.
Had a last minute Christmas dinner here and TOTALLY beat our expectations. Yes, a steakhouse in a hotel is a dangerous thing - lord knows Bourbon @ the St. Francis burned us big time with super overpriced menu and subpar food. Bob's was the opposite, and the MARTINIS... reason alone to come here.

We hit Bob's up every time we're in the bay area. After many many steak houses over the years, My husband raves about the Kansas city strip steak to everyone. I love the salmon here and the loaf of bread just makes the entire meal a delicious delight!
I found the service less than what I would expect from an establisment of this price range and location. The atmosphere was nice and the setting was very pleasant. The food was just OK and the service was the same. I am not a fan of this establisment and will not be back.
We started with cocktails in Bob's bar. They were generous and on price point with the city. Ordered the wedge, mixed greens, salmon and a ribeye. We were brought a huge loaf of bread that was delicious. We thought everything was wonderful.
We love Bob's, and find it to be a wonderful place to celebrate special occasions. It is a good value for the quality of the food.

We visit Bob's once or twice a year to spurge and it never disappoints. Pricey but not stuffy, and the food is never flawed. Booths are best if available, but in any part of the place you can actually hear the other person talk, which is essential for us and sadly now rare in SF.
Took some folks from work out to lunch at Bob's Steak and Chop House. The service was excellent, the menu selections and daily specials were interesting and diverse. Needless to say, their steaks were excellent and cooked to perfection. Their seafood was very good as well - very large, fresh jumbo prawns, fresh dungeness crab, and the halibut dish was delicious. We were pleasantly surprised that everyone liked the restaurant very much, despite having diverse palettes and food restrictions. Prices were high, but not excessive for a high end SF restaurant. Highly recommend if you're in the financial district.
