Bob's Steak & Chop House - San Francisco Ratings and Reviews
The food was cooked exactly the way we liked it and the quantity of food is like the old days. We had a wonderful second dinner with our leftovers. We went on a Sunday evening at 6 and it was very quiet. We were happy with that since we were celebrating our 3rd Anniversary. We'll definitely go back.
Food was great. Service was terrible-when we had the servers attention at all. Server was clearly slammed when we were seated. Tried to rush us into an order. Didn't even ask if we wanted a drink to start. But the place cleared out, still had a *very difficult* time even getting to our table. Waited 30 for her to even notice that we'd just been sitting there waiting to ask to take the rest home. They remembered my note about my wife's bday, that was nice. But then took forever to get a check. Host was excellent. Food was excellent. Doorman was excellent-he and the host deserve the server's tip. Locals-don't bother with here. Harris' is 1000x better. Should have gone there. Just wanted one more steak alternative in the city. This isn't it.
My husband and I were not impressed by Bob's. We live in SF and there are a to of restaurants in the city That have better food and ambiance. It was Definitely a hotel restaurant with old carpet and not a Lot of character. The food was a bit salty and nothing Special.
Perfect for a special occasion, as in my opinion only expense account diners and those willing to spend in the $150 a couple range should go. We split a shrimp cocktail and one 12 ounce New York steak and had plenty for the two of us. Now if we just didn't drink wine! Fixed price $15 valet parking but there is a $10 a car facility a block and a half away.
The food was very good. Even though you did receive a vegetable and potato as part of the entree, it still was very expensive. The wine list was marked up considerably. Our only concern was that the fillets were lukewarm when they came out of the kitchen. They should have been flaming hot due to what they cost.
We have a party of 2. We booked at 5:30 PM to take avantage of the 1000 points offer. The business was extremely slow that evening. While there were plenty of 4 persons table open and remained open for the duration of the dinner, we were seated at a extremely small 2 person table next the window. While the the widow seat seemed to be a nice touch, the ledge overhung from the window created signifcant restriction for elbow. We have to move the bread, pickles & slat and peper to the window ledge .My wife ordered the fillet mignon, the texture was good, I had the ribeye, it was dry. Both were relatively cold when served. We brought a bottle of 1990 Caymus Special Selection, the waitress did not know the wine.
This adjacent to the Omni San Francisco. I would rate Bob's as the Best steak and chophouse in San Francisco and among the best three steak restaurants in the US. My steak and the service was much better than Wolfgang's where I dined the following night. Shelly, the server and her entire support team were wonderful. Prices are very reasonable for the fine steaks, generous sides and great wines. The aged prime steaks from Chicago were more tender and tastier than any steak I have had in Chicago. I can't wait to go back.
Our dinner at Bob's was the BEST steak dinner both of us have ever had! A friend recommended us to this Texas steak house and we were impressed with every aspect of our evening: valet parking, very cozy decor, super attentive service, a non-intimidating wine list, and huge delicious portions of everything with options to share or order a half-portion of some items. With all of this, the entire staff was down to earth and seemed very interested in how our dining experience was going. Bob's is our new "special occasion" restaurant.
Very professional service. Menu, altho limited for lunch, still provided an adequite amount of variety to accomodate my business luncheon group. Excellent steak cooked perfectly. They could improve on the vegetable alternatives to ones on the menu. Great place for a business lunch.
We have eaten at Bob's for the last year- probably 10-12 times... the quality of the steak during this visit was noticeably less quality meat. the appetizer- seafood offering was noticeably smaller- same cost and less quality food... and the vegetables were good quality- but the taste was not as full as at has been before---- overall ----I am now wondering if we will ever return?
Great time - with great service. Yeah, it's expensive - but it's a steak house in a financial district swanky hotel. We had a great server (Aaron?) and a very private booth. We split all of the courses - you get so much food! The bone in ribeye was awesome. We had a great time!
I was excited to have lunch at Bob's Steakhouse because the place looks fancy. We were seated right away which was great because I don't have time to wait. The lunch menu is boring and lacks imagination. Both times I've dined there the only item that sounds interesting is the chop salad with crab. Service is extremely slow so, don't be in a rush if you go there. If your having a business lunch it's a great place to have a lengthy conversation before your food comes. Finally, we received our salad and it tasted great! I wish there more salad options to choose from on the menu. It was a good experience for lunch but, overpriced and the service could speed up a lot!
I love the relaxed clubby feel of this restaurant. It's a hidden gem in the financial district, located in the Omni Hotel. The private booths are romantic and quiet, the dining room is open and comfortable. We love their filet mignon, you can cut it with a butter knife and it melts in your mouth. However, during our most recent visit we decided to share the porterhouse, enough for two, and it was equally as scrumptious. Blue cheese salad was crisp, fresh and full of blue cheese crumbles! Most restaurants scrimp on the crumbles. My husband and I loved the steak, perfect size for sharing (we even had leftovers)! Service was, as usual, well-timed and friendly. If you're going to spend money on steak, skip Morton's and try Bobs.
