Bob's Steak & Chop House - Plano Ratings and Reviews
Bobs has always had a good quality steak, but the latest visit was less than desirable. The prime ribeyes we received had good flavor, but both steaks were tough. The desert sampler was much like something Walmart would serve. I emailed the manager immediately. I have always had better results by email than I have in person. A manager contacted me and said we should have said something while we were there. He could do nothing about it since we left. I had the feeling he did not really care, just a PR response. The next visit will be at Bobs in Dallas, which is better. It may have been a bad night, as all restaurants have on occassion, but the reply I received left me with a negative feeling.
Our evening started out with a large crowd at the door and the bar. Most of the folks were North Dakota St fans in town for the football game. The restaurant was quite busy but was able to accommodate us with a nice corner table in the golf room. We enjoyed our dinner and evening out of Bob's.
I’ve lived 2 miles away from Bobs for 14 years. Wife has wanted to go here and finally booked it. I specifically requested a more quiet room when I made a reservation but we were seated near bar and they set up a 20 top table next to us as an out of town football crowd poured in. Out of town folks who will never come back. Sorry, but this is not acceptable!
Added: Reading another post about the football nite makes me even more angry that someone with NO reservation got a better seat and we had a reservation. I would also add - what happened to Dress Codes? $200 dinner and people were in shorts, hats...ugh...
The manager Sylvio blew off my initial concerns but luckily another manager moved us.
But why weren’t we seated in a room in first place!?
Great food and service but so many great steakhouses around why chance this again.
I ordered well done Prime strip for my mom and medium well Prime T-bone for myself. But I'm sure the Chef made T-bone well done. Both were too salty and over cooked. They were very dry. I could hardly swallow every bite without drinking water. Definitely not worth 50 bucks per steak.
We went for a late dinner on NYE. Excellent steak and lamb but the 16 oz lobster tail was literally the best lobster I've had in my life. It was presented in the tail, cut into bite sized pieces, the flavor and texture were out of this world. All the food was delicious and the service was very very good.
We made a last minute reservation because Perry’s was booked solid. The waitress was wonderful, but the positives end there. The dining room was cold and when they tried to turn the heat you could smell burning rubber. We were all moved to a different table, but the food delivered was cold and this Chop house couldn’t get a 9 oz filet cooked to medium. Our meal was one disappointinment after another. My wife shared feedback with the manager and he blew her off. This was our third time here in 3 years and the food preparation has been horrible each time. Nice place, but very poor execution
First of all, Julie waited on us and I’ve never had anyone better wait on us. She was superb! We started with bacon wrapped scallops that was amazing, paired with a very complimentary sauce. All of the steaks ordered were cooked to expectation with everyone raving about how good it was. We went with the featured December red wine which was JUSTIN’s 2014 Isosceles. It’s a California Boudreaux style blend that was rated 93 or 94 points by Wine Spectator for just $125 and it was delicious. Our experience was 5 Star all the way.
We pre ordered a bottle of Tattinger Champagne and asked them to have it on ice 2 hours before we arrived, however it was still warm when we were seated. When we questioned this, the management claimed it had been on ice as requested, but that is impossible as the champagne would have been very cold when we arrived had they done so...
Ribeye was dry. Could only eat a couple of bites. Would have sent it back but did not want to embrass my friends. First time at Bob’s and a disappointment. Just retired and was looking for a good place to have delicious steak. Disappointed. Bob’s Cosmo was good.
We were celebrating our daughter's graduation and this was the perfect place! The food was incredible; steaks done to perfection, spectacular salmon and the sides... oh the sides! Creamed spinach and mac and cheese along with the potatoes pleased us all. They even gave us a spectacular brownie and ice cream dessert because they knew it was a special day!
The service was incredible as well. There was a congratulationary note from the manager and he personally stopped by to pass on his congratulations . The server Chris was fantastic and she made sure we were taken care of. All in all I couldn't have been happier with the night out. I'd have given it 10 stars if I could have! Thanks for a fantastic night Bob's!
Bobs is always consistently good. It’s gotten in my opinion a bit pricey relative to the level of food. Don’t get me wrong, it really good but the prices (especially wine) suggests great and it’s just not quite there. There’s too many other high end steak houses at the same price point that’s better. The ambiance for Christmas was outstanding. The wait staff was fine other than an unintentional mess up on the bill. We’ll ultimately be back as we like the whole legacy town square scene.
I have been to Bob's many times but this was my first visit to the Plano location. As always Bob's wows with the food. Not a fan of the carrot (but I do not eat carrots) LOL. The food and service were 5 stars. Not to bag on Bob's in Dallas, which is great, but this being my first Plano location experience was awesome. Plano location knocked the ball out of the park. MUCH quieter than the Dallas location and the restaurant seemed a little better laid out. The only thing I need to suggest is that you take the valet parking as parking space is very limited on weekends. Want to say a job well done to our waitress Tonya and thank Bob's for making everything perfect!!!
