Bob's Steak and Chop House - Omni Tucson National Resort Ratings and Reviews
Food, service, friendliness, view, - it's all there and just a great place. Had a close friend and business partner visit - we ate and drank until late in the evening and realized when we left that they closed more than an hour earlier but said nothing. Bob's is my "go-to" for dining excellence!
We loved our server, she could not have been more attentive. and the drinks were exceptional and everything was served exactly to order. Let's see the Duck. Crab Cakes , Calamari, 2 of the finest Porterhouse steaks, and a tender loin not to mention the Lobster Bisque. Next time I think we will have to save room for a desert...
The best steak filet my wife have ever tasted. The seared crust on the outside of filet with perfect inside temperature! Glazed carrot was so tasty! Thank you Bob's Steak and Chop house for a very memorable evening. We will be back, even though we live 150 miles away!
Never disappointed here! Great food, great service! The rack of lamb was melt in your mouth wonderful, as was hubby's filet mignon. The martinis were strong so beware haha. I scored free dessert for my birthday as well. Colleen has been our server before-just a lovely young lady! Go here. Pricey but worth it.
We tried Bob's for date night were very impressed! We both ordered filet, and we agreed that it was the best steak we'd had in a long time! Delicious! The glazed carrots that accompanied the meal were perfectly cooked and the baked potato was great, too. My only slight disappointment was my martini. I love a good dirty martini, and it wasn't quite as good as I've had other places. My husband's cocktails were very good, and we did love our desserts, though.
We particularly appreciated that the restaurant is quiet so that we could talk!
The steakhouse is quiet and service was good. The food though was average, others have reviewed the food as excellent. The table ordered the Calamari as an appetizer, the breading was fried well but the Calamari reminded me of a frozen product and not prepared fresh. The pieces of Calamari were small and portion was also small (this might've been a blessing).
The Lobster tail that was ordered was dry & over cooked. The Steak that was ordered although cooked as requested, charred medium rare, was dry as well. The Salmon appeared to be cooked properly and was flaky on the inside. The potatoes we ordered had a peppercorn Gravy and was incredibly soggy. The Carrot that was included was cooked well.
I might have been there on an off night, even the cheese cake we ordered was dry and not moist, I do question if it was fresh. The chocolate cake that was sent out was tasty but also dry, I do question if these cakes were not fresh or simply stored improperly.
I hope we just caught them on an off night but certainly not worth the price of admission. There certainly better Steakhouses in Tucson.
We have been to several steakhouses but this was by FAR the best for the price. If you are looking for a nice, romantic and quiet dinner this is the place to be. We will definitely go back for special occasions! The service was wonderful (fun and polite) and the food was very good. The people seated next to us RAVED about their food.
First time there, since we were looking for a different than usual place to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. We WILL definitely be coming back. We received complimentary cocktails, the food was amazing. My husband was in heaven since they served mint jelly with his lamb chops. Overall terrific!!
I had the filet, which was very tender and flavorful. My husband had the shrimp and pasta. The shrimp were good size and also very good. The side carrot was sweet with a hint of citrus and the pan fried potatoes with peppercorn sauce were savory. The service was vey good and the staff attentive!
Our first visit to Bob's we were impressed. They have a summer special that includes salad main course, (6 oz filet or salmon) sides and desert for $39.00 per person. For $10.00 more you can upgrade to a 14 oz. New York. They also compted my wife and I a choice of drinks or wine in honor of our anniversary. We liked it better than Fleming's. It was more atmospheric, less expensive, much quieter, and we really liked the food.
Great steak, ranks with the best. Potatos a bit hit-or-miss--baked good, pan fried a bit limp. One hint--ask to delete the sugar and cinnamon soaked glazed carrot. Contamination from this strange item was challenging to avoid.
Mediocre at best.
Presented as a romantic dinner spot. It's in need of a remodel.
The service was mildly offensive.
My server was more interested in helping my wife. It was I essentially even at the table. The food was overpowered with salt. The crab cakes are cod microwaved and then fried. And for some reason the garnish on the plate is an enormous carrot with a cinnamon sauce.
This place shouldn't be on open table.
Nice quiet ambiance. Meal was absolutely delicious - my colleague and I ordered off of the 3 course menu selection and I upgraded to the NY strip. Steaks were grilled to perfection! Great taste. Carrot served with meal was also well received ! Worth the trip to have dinner at Bob's !
Overall we were disappointed with our meal especially after reading all the fabulous reviews. This was our first visit to a Bob's and we were expecting something really special, comparable to Ruth's Chris or Fleming's which are favorites of ours. I ordered a small filet, cooked medium, and my husband ordered a New York, cooked medium rare. I had to send the filet back to bring up the temperature as it was rare at best. My husband's New York was so tough he could hardly cut it with a steak knife. The meat was not overcooked, it was medium rare, it was just not a good cut. The waitress first attempted to just bring him a better knife? Interesting since he had taken a couple bites and it obviously wasn't a problem with the knife. They did offer to replace the steak with something else. He ordered a filet which was very good, although more rare than medium rare but he didn't want to take the time to send it back as I had finished my meal by then. They also comped a glass of wine while he waited and took 20% off our bill to compensate for having to wait. We appreciated that and our waitress was fantastic. Also need to mention the carrot. Understand its a trademark thing and some people love it. However, the sweet cinnamon taste interfered with the steak flavor and we would have appreciated at least having it served on a separate plate. Not sure we would go back. It's a bit pricey and we have definitely had better steaks at restaurants in that price range.
We have been to Bob's several times and this was by far our least favorite experience. My wife's steak came out extremely under-cooked and our server initially argued stating "that is how that cut comes out" but when I showed her my steak (the exact same cut, to which I had ordered medium rare, while my wife ordered medium and to which my steak was cooked properly and my wife's bordered on rare to raw) she agreed and sent my wife's steak to be cooked further. There was no apology about the steak and up to that point the service had been great, but after, the service severely lacked. We had to wait about 10 minutes for our drinks to be refilled and they were only refilled after we asked. Dessert took much longer than usual to come out and the overall service was not good. This was our first experience at Bob's that was not positive as previous experiences have been exemplary.
