Bob's Steak & Chop House - Dallas on Lamar Ratings and Reviews
Food and service were outstanding, however, there was an atmosphere of college football fanatics in attendance and they were loud using vulgar language at a table next to elementary school aged kids and the sports bar next door had a breakout of Woo Pig Sooie! Not the most romantic spot last Friday!
Great food and service. Managers checked on us throughout the meal. Wagyu filet was one of the best I've had. Some Wagyu is just hype and not much better than a regular filet. This is not the case at Bob's. Their food quality and presentation is outstanding. Everything about this restaurant keeps me coming back.
We celebrated my husband's birthday and we e not the generous meal. The steaks were well seasoned and cooked to perfection. We ended with a complimentary beautifully presented chocolate brownie with peanut butter andf vanilla ice cream.
This restaurant has outstanding steaks! In fact, one of the BEST steaks we have ever eaten in a restaurant. My husband and I were at a table for two enjoying an away football game weekend in the Omni in Dallas. Unfortunately, right after we were seated the restaurant allowed a configuration of tables for 16 men on one side and a long table for 10 (5 couples) on the other side. The noise was maddening! The voices of the two large tables became "yelling" and the men wanted to move about and stand visiting with each other instead of being seated! One twosome almost knocked over my wine at our table! We complained to the hostess and told her that that we felt like we had suddenly been transported to a "sports bar" and NOT enjoying a fine dining restaurant! She apologized and tried to get the men in the largest party to be seated.
Our desire for a quiet and intimate dinner was ruined by the noise and crowds of people adjacent to us with the obvious poor placement of tables "for two" next to banquet sIze parties! This is NOT an inexpensive restaurant so be prepared to pay top prices...and it is worth it when it comes to the taste and flavor of the food! That is what was so sad...to pay the high prices and be exposed to such ridiculously large dining parties that negatively impacted the ambiance.
We assume that in the end, they don't mind "ticking off a twosome" when the dining checks for a 16 seated party and 10 seater party brought in greater revenue!
The food was very delicious! The service was impeccable and overall, it was a beautiful experience. The only negative I had was it was a bit too pricey ( for me) and a bit too dark. Maybe a few candles on the table would have added a bit more light to the beautiful ambience. My family and I were there to have dinner together so we opted for a booth which offers so much privacy. I would definitely love to eat here again without the kiddos as a date-night or anniversary celebration with my husband.
Great experience, our waiter was expectional. We had the tomahawk, we shared a 30 oz steak that is not on the menu. Best desert we have ever had, I would recommend Bob's steak house on Lamar. Only bad thing was that we had 2 big parties next to us and they were loud, but not Bobs fault.
Great food and service. We got to talk to the Executive Chef (Sean). It was fun to talk to the guy that runs the show in the kitchen and is overall responsible for the incredible quality of the food. I recommend the Filet (Prime Beef). The service was top-notch (Server was Jenn) and the manager (Heidi) checked on us throughout our meal. This was not our first time and we'll continue to come back whenever we're back in town. Don't forget to try peanut butter brownie for dessert to leave with an extra smile on your face. Thanks for taking such good care of us! It's our favorite steakhouse in town!!!
Reservations were upheld with zero wait for our table. Our waiter was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and offered suggestions that paid off. We were celebrating my husbands birthday and they recognized our occasion perfectly and the food was absolutely DELICIOUS! Great date night.
Tonight was my wife’s 30th birthday! We usually goto the bobs on Lemmon but wanted a change of scenery and we were thrilled with our experience. George was our server and he did an astounding job. I work in the service industry and usually critique servers, this guy was amazing! We usually dine at bobs for all our special occasions and well be seeing George really soon! And as always the filet was amazing!
Food was real good , I had the prime rib eye and it was excellent . My wife had the fried shrimp and it was ok , the batter was a little darker than normal . The table we were seated at had a spider crawling on it so they moved us to another table. I had a margarita and sent it back because it didn't taste right . Our waitress was hard to find quite a bit , our drinks kept being left empty for long periods of time . I would come again because the food was real good and the hostess and everyone else was great . But I would want a different waitress the next time .
The food was great...it always is. The service is the unknown. Some nights it is timely, prompt, efficient, well-timed, attentive, etc. Then there are nights, like our evening this past Saturday night, where we had to leave the table and inquire about the length of time it was taking to receive our meal. In a first-class, high-end restaurant (and this one is) one should never have to leave the table to go find your waiter to ask for service or ask for information. So...what should have been a five star rating is only three stars. My wife and I were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary, but had had several previous celebrations prior to the actual date so we were treating this as a low-key event even thought it was the actual day. All we wanted was a good meal in a first-class restaurant, with excellent food and service. The restaurant was much noisier than usual and the waiters seemed somewhat "stretched". My perception is that they didn't have enough waiters and the customers pay the price...literally and figuratively.
We celebrated a birthday for dinner and it was wonderful. Our server was attentive, fun, and gave great recommendations. The steaks, sides, and dessert were delicious. Would definitely recommend the Mac and cheese and onion rings for sides! They even brought out a complimentary dessert with candles and we loved it. Thank you for a great evening!
This was our second night of a two day visit to the Omni. We had friends fly down for the north to vist these two days after 40 years of friendship. We spent both nights at Bob's. The entire staff Bob's made our evening absolutely fantastic. I've commented many times now on previous trips to Bob's and it being fantastic, but this time they outdid themselves. Drinks at Bob's bar were awesome, large and stout. Absolutely well stocked.......you name it.....they probably have it. The servers are the best I've seen anywhere.......and I do watch all of them while I"m there......This is only a guess, but the entire staff must be handpicked by the manager. I've never seen such a professional staff......no matter what their function. Bob's has unlocked the secret!!!!!! When people love what they do, its not a job to them.....they just love doing their thing.....and it shows at Bob's. Now, the food.......over the top fantastic!!!!!! and......one doesn't go away hungry.......it's hard to eat every bite.......but it's oh so good. As I've said before, we go to Dallas to do some shopping. If we can't stay at the Omni on Lamar and dine at Bob's, we just don't go. We'll wait till we get reservations to both. Yes, its that good!!!!!!!!
Just a quick shout out to Heidi, Jen, Kayla and the rest of the staff. Thank you guys!!!!!! You made our 40 year reunion more than we hoped it could be. Univ. starts up next week so I'm on the hook till December break. We already have reservations :) See you then.
Paul and Phyllis K.
Bob's comes through again!!!!!!!!!! This was a special reunion with old friends from 40 years ago. The food was spectacular, service without equal, which made for a really memorable evening. Can't say enough good things about Bob's. We only dine at Bob's on Lamar.
Everything was delicious and perfect. Waiter was very attentive.
When we booked, we signified that it was our anniversary, but the waiter didn't say anything or mention it, and we weren't there for free dessert. It just would've been a nice touch since it was asked during our open table booking/reservation.
