Bob's Steak and Chop House - Austin Ratings and Reviews
I have been to this location twice in the past few weeks. From the minute you walk in the door, you know the staff is focused on you. Both times the food was outstanding, the service was impeccable and the overall experience was great! I will definitely recommend Bob's to others. The attentiveness of the waitstaff is superb - I love that they refold napkins if you excuse yourself. We had a spill at our table and a fellow staff member that was not attending to our table noticed and laid 2 napkins over it. I've put in special requests and they not only catered to it, but went above and beyond to make the celebration special. The attention to even the smallest of details really makes the experience standout. I couldn't be more pleased with the dining experience.
We still LOVE this spot. Best crab cakes. Best steaks. Best creamed spinach. Plus very attentive service, and Joe Barriga, the manager, came over and checked on us. He also helped with our lost phone issue the next day, as did Audre, the business manager. Keep up good work!!! Thx- Clayton/Katherine
We were very pleased with our first time experience! Our son gave us a gift card for Christmas and wanted us to go have a nice steak & wine. We would normally not treat ourselves to a nice dinner, so this was a treat for us. We will definitely be back! Great service from Valet to dining. Food was amazing, drinks were on point (highly recommend the Pomegranate Martini) and did not have room for dessert, which looked delicious. This was a great date night for my husband and I!
My Wife and I were celebrating our anniversary on 01/12 so I thought we would come here. Excellent choice. From the moment we walked in to the time we left everyone had gone above and beyond to make our night a special one. From the hostess who greeted us with a hand written Anniversary card to our waiter Craig who described in detail everything on the menu and offered suggestions, to Joe the GM for coming by to check on us. Everyone that we had came in contact with that night knew it was our anniversary and congratulated us. We couldn't have made a better choice to celebrate our Anniversary. The food was outstanding, one of the best steaks we had ever eaten and I love my steaks. Words cannot describe how good the food was, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. We will definitely be coming back and we would give the food and the service both 10 Stars each but they only allow 5. Thank you again to Joe and your entire Staff.
Our favorite steakhouse in Austin. We always visit Bob's for special occasions like anniversaries and birthdays. The steaks are always top notch. The fried lobster appetizers is delicious but probably not so good for your cholesterol! The wine list is extensive and Nick is always available with a recommendation. The prices are not inexpensive but you won't be disappointed.
We went on NYE. The food was amazing & our waiter was top-notch - until a little after 11pm struck & we got the check suddenly. I actually wanted a dessert, but he didn't bother to ask. My thought was "I guess they need the table" or "I guess they're trying to clear as many people out before 12midnight for the 'free' champagne toast". They could have moved us to the bar if they needed the table.
Fantastic food. They called earlier that afternoon to ask if we were celebrating a special occasion, and I indicated that it was our 26th anniversary. Once we arrived late and provided a small champagne toast and a card which was delightful. Incredible food and great service. We will definitely return.
We love Bob's Chop House!!
The steaks are great, we love the giant glazed carrots, and the lobster mac and cheese is fantastic (and I normally don't even like mac and cheese)
My wife doesn't eat beef or fowl, and she gets fish, pasta, or shrimp dishes. I love that we can go to a great steak place, but she is still excited about going.
My wife and I went to Bob's for her birthday a few days ago, and it was wonderful, as always!
This is our second time at Bob's and I'm convinced that they have the best steaks in town. The side dishes were also very good along with the presentation. The wait staff were very accommodating and attentive. Although not inexpensive, the quality of the food, people, and atmosphere made our visit perfect.
While the food was good, it was quite pricey and I didn't find any of it amazing. I wouldn't recommend it to my friends because I don't think they could (or would want to) afford it. My husband and I split a steak, which came with potatoes and carrots. We also ordered the roasted Brussels sprouts. I liked the steak, but the vegetables were just OK. They also served house-made pickles (not my thing) and warm bread (which was delicious) as appetizers.
Because it was his birthday, they gave him a free dessert of his choice. We chose the chocolate peanut butter cake, which was awesome! I wish we'd known they would do that and we would have saved a little more room!
Our server was a little... overwhelming. My husband and I like a little more hands-off waitstaff and I felt he was too schmoosey and "used car salesman" for my taste. I don't need someone to serve my meat to me. I also found it annoying that he took away the pickles and the bread, especially since the bread was my favorite part. Oh well.
Making reservations was easy and the hostess was nice. The lighting was very dark (the waiter actually got out a flashlight to show us some things on the menu, which I also thought was obnoxious). The ambiance was mostly quiet, which was nice.
We couldn't have asked for a better dining experience! We were celebrating my husband's birthday and they treated him like a king! The customer service was awesome; our before dinner drinks and meals were not rushed and they not only gave him a signed birthday card,
but also a complimentary dessert. We both had filet mignon and it was cooked to perfection, as were the glazed carrot. If I had any complaint, it would be that asparagus was overcooked (my opinion), but no worries, my husband liked it a lot. We don't live in the Austin area, but I am sure we will return again one day.
We went there on Thanksgiving day and had a very nice dinner for four. Everyone was friendly from the moment we walked in the door. The waitstaff were all wonderful and very professional . Chris was our waiter and we were very happy with the service he provided and his suggestions for wine.
This was our first visit to Bob's. We went for Thanksgiving dinner, just the two of us. The service was professional and friendly. The food was excellent and abundant. We had the fixed-price Thanksgiving dinner, which included salad or soup (we both had the wedge -- very good), a heaping plate of traditional T-giving fare, and dessert -- I had the carrot cake, she had the pumpkin cheese cake -- both delicious. We took home good-sized leftovers -- which were still good heated up.
Had Thanksgiving with my 90 year old mother and brother. My mother just oohed and ahed at the atmosphere. We all ordered off the regular menu, or the day’s specials rather than the Thanksgiving menu. I had Wagyu beef medallions and lobster, both of which were outstanding. We also shared roasted brussel sprouts, which were very good.
