It is too old, dark, noisy, no ventilation, one table on top of another and the service is bad.
I got the table virtually in front of the silverware and glassware cabinet. The clanging was horrendous.
We ate half our dinner and could not stand the heat, noise and bad service.
We took our food and left.
I really horrible experience.
I treated my son to Bobo’s for his birthday. I really enjoyed the free parking, friendly and professional service providers and the coziness of our dining area. I was not a fan of the Brussels sprouts however I LOVED the bread and the crab crostini’s...VERY DELICIOUS.
What a horrible experience with food and ambiance! This is definitely not fine dining. Prices were outrageous for what we were fed! Food was prepared super fast like it was pre-cooked. Dessert came within minutes after ordering and waiter gave us the check while we were eating dessert. Felt like it was pre-made and refrigerated. Very disappointing but I feel like this needs to be noticed. The red room was comfortable and quaint except that there was a dead fly behind us where we were seated by the window. When was the last time you cleaned this red room. The filet mignon with bone was good but the rib eye was the worst disappointment ever. It was over cooked, fatty and chewy!
It was a special occasion that was ruined by an overpriced, mediocre horrible dinner. Sorry Bobo, I would not recommend this to anyone. It totally feels like a tourist trap and we are not tourists! But felt like we got duped like tourists. What a horrible feeling after leaving restaurant while celebrating a special occasion.
Everything was good, not great. Had high expectations but food was a little underwhelming. Also had issues bringing my stroller in even though I put it in the reservation notes and re-confirmed when they called to confirm my reservation.
The best filet mignon that I've ever tasted.
Can go toe-to-toe with the top NYC steak houses and 2/3 the cost.
Been a loyal customer for 15 years.
It’s not the Bobo’s of 10 years ago. Food quality less than expected. Bone in filet of legend was shadow of its former self. Needs more seasoning and more sear. I’m not a big presentation guy, but don’t place a steak that size on a huge plate with nothing else on it and juices kind of flowing over the side. Wipe that down! Too bad. It was such a great great steak house.
Upstairs room was very loud and small. It also gets very Smokey when the mussle hit plates are brought out. Table of 10 next to us orders 2 mussle dishes and the entire room filled with smoke including our clothing.
We arrived 5 PM. We told our server we have been frequent guest knew exactly what we wanted to order. Play star entrée appetizer and drink order altogether. We had a toddler so time was of the essence. He took our order. We one appetizer and entrées. Appetizer came. Entrées were cold. Sides were hot. Tried to get the servers attention without avail. Drinks were wrong. And by the time we left we have been there over 1.5 hours. Extremely disappointed.
Food wasn’t terrible but the steaks definitely weren’t what they should have been for the price. Girls at the hostess stand were super friendly, but our server didn’t have much personality. Restaurant is very tight, we were crammed in a small corner and the table next to us was very close.
The food was very tasty and well prepared. The service was awesome and our waiter was very attentive. it was pretty warm in the room we were seated in.
The steak was smothered in butter so. It very tasty ...the room was extremely warm and the crab smell was over powering ...the bread is delicious and I would return now know that I would have say no butter
Wonderful place for a birthday dinner. Wish I had realized there was free valet parking because we drove around the block a few times.
I must say I was a bit disappointed. The service was slow. The waiters did not know their wine and simply pushed the most expensive bottle. Additionally, the sides were cold and the wait staff used the restrooms non stop during dinner sessions which I had to wait twice for over 10 minutes to use the restroom. Frankly the place is dirty and could use a mega good deep clean. The steak was very good but the sides were loaded with salt and to much butter. For the prices they command they needs to step up their game.
Took parents for the first time. As always, steaks were super impressive. Our server was French and not very welcoming, but did his job well.
Great experience. I go to Bobo’s about 4x a year and this was the best experience food-wise, I’ve ever had.
Very cramped and noisy. Steak was excellent but could do without "sauce"
Great food. Fantastic decor. Great service.
I was disappointed in the food. The service was excellent but the steak was very sub-par.
The seafood skillet dish was amazing. Great presentation and came out quickly. Major downside was the bartender. He was awful and rude. We weren’t greeted by the bartender for 15 mins and then was told to wait as he was mingling with other customers. The interaction, thereafter, was even less pleasant. No simple greetings or thank you. Especially since we were seated later than the reservation time.
Wacky decor that could use some freshening up. The bone in filet as good as ever. great service.
One couple was vaping and watching videos on speakerphone. A couple other tables had their status alerts on and at high volume- distracting and annoying.
The room we were in had poor ventilation so when several people ordered dishes that were grilled at the table, the smell lingered and got into our clothes.
Food was ok and sides are not over priced but waiter didn’t enquirer about our meals, water was refilled infrequently (I left with an empty glass), and I had to request the check.
Although the food was acceptable, due to the indifferent service and poor ambience, I will not recommend or return.
Food is fine but prices are ridiculous for what you get, especially since the decor is so crappy. Super premium pricing for low end environment and average food.
The steak was excellent and the table service on point. The decor at Bobo’s is old, tired and dirty. We were initially seated at a table tucked into a space so small it felt like it was meant for children. It was so tight and uncomfortable along with the wall being filthy. Next, we were offered another table, just as cramped, by the restrooms! We were finally moved to a more comfortable space.
The restaurant must have been a house at one time. It has many rooms on 3 levels and they are fitted with as many tables as they could be. There is no elegance about it - and when you spend $200+ for a dinner for TWO we expect more.
The wait staff was on top of everything so I will commend them for the service. We indicated it was a special occasion when booking and nothing was asked nor offered in regards to that. We will not be back.
bobos has been recommended by a few people and has great reviews even in yelp! Finally had a chance to check it out with my best friends visiting from so cal! We loooove seafood! Especially crabs and oysters! Made reservation through open table which was a breeze.
Arrived at the restaurant and got greeted by the hostess, got seated immediately. Great ambiance! Feels like it’s more for romantic dinner instead of a group type of restaurant.
Our server was very attentive. We started off with the lobster soup and salad. Bread was amazing with the capers. We ordered the double mussels and whole crab and bone in rib eye, not sure which size. Arrived in a timely manner. Came on a sizzling skillet with some garlic butter and lemon butter sauce. The mussels and crab were over cooked. Crab meat was already stuck to the shell when you try to peel it. I’ve had better rib eye at other steak houses such at Alexander’s and Ruth’s Chris, it’s just not juicy as you woulda/coulda imagine from such highly reviewed steak/crab house. Crab from Thanh long and PPQ Dungeness was much better, tastier and definitely not over cooked
Everything was great! I would just suggest that the waiter we had be more vocal and/or communicate better with us. He didn't say much when he came to take our order, and he took away our bread when we weren't done with it. Overall, his service could have been perfect had he just been more vocal.
This place used to be in my top three steak places in San Francisco. This was a special occasion ruined by poor service, cramped seating, and the noisiest dining experience I have ever been a part of. Great food although way overpriced And the company we’re the only savoring factors. I don’t recommend for special occasions or being able to have a conversation during your meal.
The food is amazing. Will be going back
Great place for a small group of friends. Most were there for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it!
The iron skillet-roasted mussels and shrimp were excellent. The steak was yummy but a little overdone. Brussels sprouts were excellent. However they didn’t have the correct year for the bottle of wine we ordered off the menu. The crab wasn’t particularly special which was disappointing. Overall a good spot but not quite as good as I expected for the price point.
Great experience as always. Shout out to Renaud, who always makes the dinner special for us.
Everything and then some!
Went in for my birthday right at opening.
Was just my brother and I, but the staff and my waiter, Renaud, made the experience so lovely!
Now I know of a GREAT steakhouse to eat at whenever I’m in the city.
The food was absolutely outstanding! A must do whilst in San Fran!
First class dining in a cool old style setting. Excellent food and service!
This place is the best. I take all my visitors here.
Bobos is my favorite. Never a disappointment.
Great steaks (didn't try the crab) and very nice wine list. Quiet and romantic.
I ordered the mussels, shrimp and crab on the cast iron pan. It was so over cooked the shrimp were stuck to the pan. Totally burnt when I pried them off. The mussels were completely dried out and the crab came out like dried up flakes. I’ve never had a meal that bad in my life. The only reason I give it a good rating is my wife’s steak was good and the sides were ok (mod mac and creamed spinach. I think I got a rare bad meal because i was recommended this place by people who know food. Anyway. I’ll never go back
We were personally greeted at our table and thanked for being there. I thought that was really nice. We had the filet mignon & crab which were cooked perfectly. It was really delicious.
First time I ever had to send a steak back at Bobos. It was ice cold halfway through. Med-rare. Eaten here a lot. It is my #2 and #3 on my top 5 steaks list. #1 is a Kobe steak in Japan. Threw the whole dinner off. They took my steak back to the grill. Cooked it some more and brought it back. Made me think of everyone else's steak they had half eaten and re cooked on the same grill. I ate one more bite and could not stomach the rest. Going to be a minute before I can go back.
Celebrated my friend's birthday here and had the best of time. Food was exceptional and server was delightful. It's a bit pricey definitely but wortt every penny!
Love the look and feel of Bobo’s. It’s so cozy and has the coolest theme. Their are several small rooms to dine in including a small bar area. The food was good and mostly had a great flavor. Overall good place with good service.
