Great experience for my wifes birthday! Great atmosphere, service, and food options.
I have been coming to boatyard for years. However, no more. Our waiter, Gary was training Aaron. Aaron the trainee greeted us and brought us water, but Gary was hard to come by. However, when he did finally come over I told him immediately I have celiac disease. I request a "extra dirty TITO's (bc it's GF) martini with regular olives, please no stuffed olives." The drink came much later and I had to remind him. When he brought it just carried over in his hands, it had blue cheese stuffed olives. So I asked nicely for him to fix that. He came back over with another with regular olives. I drank it and it was good. Towards the end of dinner my stomach started hurting. When I received the bill, it said kettle one martini. Kettle one is made from wheat, it isn't gluten free. I told Gary and the manager came over w/his phone saying all distilled alcohol is gluten free. This isn't necessarily true and Celiacs including myself react to other vodkas made from wheat which is why I always drink and ask for only Tito's. Tito's is labeled to be GF and it doesn't hurt me. The manager left and Gary came back and told me the checks been taken care of and apologized for the mess up as he had been "DRINKING MARTINIS ALL NIGHT."
WHAT?! This is no excuse at all for a mistake like that. I have been GF for over a decade I know exactly what I can drink and eat when I go out and make it very clear so the waiter and chef can help me navigate.
It is quite embarrassing to my family and I. The other tables are looking, I leave feeling terrible in the sense I came to eat and pay for my meal. I was looking forward to enjoying an evening with my family at our favorite restaurant, but left embarrassed and in pain. While I appreciate the comp'd meal, it doesn't make it better, or make up for what I missed on my vacay with my family.
I wasn't able to go out with my family that night as it sends me to bed with terrible stomach pain for days.
Awesome place for a nice work lunch during the week, very good attention and quality
Just got engaged
Hi, thank you for a lovely evening for my husband's 50th birthday dinner. Service was excellent with staff quick and attentive. We were a bit disappointed with the grouper piccata which could have had a bit more flavour although the fish flesh was perfectly cooked. I had the scallops which were also perfectly cooked but they and the accompaniments could have been warmer (the overall dish temperature was lukewarm). The octopus and chorizo appetizer was outstanding. The birthday chocolate meringue was a super addition to the rest of the meal. Thank you.
Just not very good. It’s a shame because it’s a beautiful place.
awesome food, awesome service and GREAT view, as always
Boatyard is an A+ experience. The incredible lightly grilled grouped + scallops were the best dish I've had in 10 years.
great food great service very pleasant evening celebrating our 50th
Great food. We always come here when we are in Ft. Lauderdale. Get ready, though, it is very LOUD.
As frequent visitors to Florida, this is the best meal we have had to date, it was a great find! Food, service, view, ambiance all fabulous. I still think of those tuna tacos...yum!
I think every thing was good except the scrimp. Came out gummy over cooked
Our server was amazing -- honest and willing to assist with our choices and final selections. We never wanted for anything (and I drink water and tea like crazy). He was one of the most professional and attentive (without being annoying) servers I can remember. Both my adult son and I appreciate fresh food prepared well, and The Boatyard nailed both! The Simply Grilled swordfish was, quite honestly, one of the best prepared pieces of fish I've ever had, and we live along the Florida coastline -- so we eat a lot of fish. The Turkey Cobb sandwich was delicious with so many layers of flavors. An all-around fabulous experience. And a huge "tip of the hat" to the company for having safety messages and measures posted prominently in the restroom. I'm thrilled that women have the safety net provided in a subtle but easy method.
We had higher expectations. We started with the Bimini Bread ($5.00), and were quite disappointed. The bread was hard , almost stale, around the outside. We ended up sending it back. Not worth it even if it was fresh.
The rest of the meal was ok, but not inexpensive.
We are frequent diners at this restaurant however was not as happy as with past experience. I ordered a new dish on the menu that did not specify there was any thing hot or spicy in the ingredients (but did include them) and I couldn’t eat it. It was brought back to the kitchen to be remade a manager did come over to apologize however my family was mostly done eating by the time mine arrived. Apparently they have a new system to pay your bill at the table on a device called pay my tab. When my husband looked it over it looked like they had subtracted my $40 scallop dish and he tipped the suggested 20% of $50 plus. When we got in the car he told me they took the scallops off the bill I said oh wow that was nice but you made sure to tip the waitress on the full price he said yes. Then we got the email receipt they had charged me for scallops twice and then subtracted one but the suggested amount for the tip included both orders of scallops which is not the correct amount to be tipped on! Therefore he left an additional $8 in tip when it was not warranted very annoying! The least they could have done was given us a free dessert (if not the scallops dish) not over suggest the tipping amount😡
Wayyyy too noisy. My shrimp n grits were tepid.
Celebrated 2 milestone birthdays with friends. Christian, our server, was fantastic! He made wonderful suggestions (Shrimp&Grits and Seafood Mac&Cheese) that we absolutely loved. We can't wait to eat the Conch Fritters (Indian spices), Calamari, and Boatyard salad again. They were the perfect starters. The bottomless 'make it yourself' mimosas were phenomenal and so worth it! We really hope that Boatyard incorporates the strawberry lemonade mimosa to their menu. It was DELICIOUS! Thank you for an exceptional culinary experience.
The food never disappoints and the service is always above and beyond. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable and makes the whole experience one to remember every visit.
The food was absolutely delicious, and our server was a delight.
Absolutely the best. Service, atmosphere and food was fantastic. Highly recommend, look forward to going back very soon.
I had been wanting to visit this place for a while. But for whatever reason just didn't get around to it. Well, today was finally the day and boy they didn't disappoint. The restaurant is absolutely immaculate. Great layout, beautiful architecture, and overall ambiance is so beautiful. Now, the food... what can I say other than delicious. I highly recommend this place.
Resturant and food where really good and service was fantastic. I would definitely go again
We had a nice indoor seat by the window. Our waiter Terry, had the right balance of attentiveness and knowledge regarding the dishes. The tuna tacos are delicious! The steak and seafood was prepared to the perfect temperature and was delicious.
Just a terrible dining experience - Food was cold and full of sauce. The Mussels were smaller than a pea and quality of all the food was just low.
I would classify the food no better than army surplus food.
Seafood Mac and cheese was amazing
Outstanding service from hostess to waitress. Food was outstanding.
We had an amazing first experience at Boatyard. The food, atmosphere, and service was great. The hostess gladly moved us to an outdoor table and they surprised my parents for their 25th anniversary with a delicious dessert.
Wonderful fresh fish and apps were great. Good sides
My server was amazing! I sat very quickly, but the food was just okay. Other places are much better
Fantastic service and great selection of local seafood! Beautiful atmosphere and perfect for either every day dining or special occasion dinner.
Just a fabulous restaurant for local seafood fare and great views of the water from any table. And a great happy hour and killer wine list!
Lovely. I like the new table service seafood cart. A/C was way too cold. But then it got warmer.
Third visit. Fresh seafood. Great location with choice of indoors or outdoors. Plenty of free parking, rare for east ft lauderdale, valet also available. Somewhat overpriced. Not a fan of the new digital handheld pay device where the server stands over you while you select the tip amount.
We took a visiting couple here recently. The atmosphere was very pleasant. Maybe a little loud at times for conversation but okay for the most part. We enjoyed both of the brunch bar specials (the eggs Benedict and the omelet bar). The seafood entrees were also tasty. We recommend the seafood mac n. cheese and the shrimp & grits. We feel we have found a new destination for a Sunday afternoon and special evening occasion.
Boatyard was a lovely dining experience. Walking into the restaurant, the ambiance and decor is absolutely beautiful. The hostess seated us right away even though we were early for our reservation. We were seated outside, right on the water. It was a beautiful view of the water and boats. Our waiter was wonderful. He made suggestions, checked on us at all the right times, and even wrote down the name of a bottle of wine that my Mom loved. I will say the food portions are not huge and shouldn’t be ordered to share. Some could say certain dishes are a bit small. My salmon dinner was just enough for one. They gave us two complimentary desserts being that we there celebrating, which was a nice treat. I would definitely return!
Really enjoyed the kale salad and my companion enjoyed the rainbow trout with garlic mashed potatoes. Yum!
Beautiful restaurant, with and delicious fresh food, from oysters to incredible desserts! And the service impeccable, perfect!
The food was ok, but nothing special. The noise level was so high that a normal conversation was impossible.
While the appetizers (we had the conch fritters, seafood mac & cheese, fresh oysters & bimini bread) and our drinks were all delicious, the entrees were very disappointing, especially for the price paid. Three of our party ordered the skirt steak & scallops special, and though the scallops were great, the rest left a lot to be desired. One steak was nearly raw when ordered medium, the other completely overcooked, and the sides of mashed potatoes & asparagus were very bland. My swordfish was very salty & they gave me the wrong sauce, but at that point, I did not want to send another thing back to the kitchen. Our tab was nearly $300 and we were really not satisfied. For that price we could have had a much better meal elsewhere, and it was for a birthday, which makes it even more disappointing. Our waitress was great, as was the manager, and they did acknowledge the slip-ups by sending us a dessert platter on the house, but that really unfortunately doesn't make up for a very expensive, unimpressive meal.
