It was a cold windy night but we were enveloped in the warmth of the fireplace as we looked over the marina. The staff were attentive without being obtrusive. We had lovely maple chicken and planked maple salmon beutifully presented and served with just the right number of side dishes. We could not have asked for better since neither of us care for sauces. The wine list was great and our selection complimented the food beautifully.
We came over on the Langdale ferry without our car to meet family members for a birthday lunch. Boathouse was a short walk from the ferry terminal. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Food and service, ambience and view were all very good. We have arranged family get-togethers like this before and will again. We were able to have a leisurely lunch together and then get a ferry back home.
On the Boathouse LobsterFest Menu, the Lobster Thermidor is described as “lobster meat, shrimp, mushrooms and sherry cream sauce.” (To my knowledge, this sauce would include butter, garlic, onion, cream, sherry, and seasonings, particularly dry (powdered) mustard.)
The Wild BC Salmon with Lobster Thermidor and Fire-Grilled Sirloin with Lobster Thermidor both seemed to have not understood this. The thermidor topping on both the salmon and on the beef appeared to be nothing more than a small shrimp cut into two pieces, one bit from a lobster claw and mostly cooked mushroom. There was little or no sauce on either.
Once again an excellent dinner for my friends
Food was up to expectations, fishe well cooked and presented, steak axactly as ordered. Server attentive and keen.
the overall experience was truly enjoyable, from the greeting thru the 3 course meal.the service was exceptional and helped to make the evening memorable .
Our server Karen made the difference. My wife and I are both egetarian. Her knowledge of your menu as well as asking the chief's input helped us choose a delightful meal.
Great seafood wondeful location great service
The lobster fest was on and we chose the seafood platter for two. Portions were very good. The steak was done just as we had ordered, although one of the steaks was tough and the other very tender. The shrimp skewers were done to perfection, while the Alaska Crab legs and the lobster I thought were a bit and tasteless. The service was very good, the ambiance looking over the harbour was fantastic.I thought the paper on top of the table cloth was a bit tacky for a higher end restaurant. The staff was attentive without hovering over the table. All in all I enjoyed the meal and I would go back.
The food was great! Dad and I got the steak and Lobster thermidore, and Mom got the Lobster bowl. The portion was great, and it tasted great, as well! And the pizza was ... Wow!!! Definitely would recommend the Lobster Festival Mains!! Thank you for the birthday dessert treat as well:-)
Had the clam chowder and firecracker shrimp for appetizers, and they were both superb. Generous portions on everything we ordered. Steak was just so-so. Not marinated well enough, and the quality of the sirloin was just OK. Lobster thermidor was nice. Desserts were excellent, had the mocha mud pie and the cheesecake. Service from our waitress was superb, she practically read my mind.
Very inviting ambiance. Food was great and service outstanding! Have been several times and will continue to use.
Our Dinner was great. Will come again. Large portions and very tasteful.
I appreciated the dinner and was pleasantly surprised that it was regular size for Dine Out compared to other places which seemed to serve smaller portions. The ambiance was nice and service pleasant. I had a good time and I am sure I will return again.
Seafood was all perfectly cooked. The crab cakes were exceptionally fantastic.. The serving sizes were generous without being ridiculous. Service was excellent. We were happy!
Always a favorite...food is yummy!!!!
Everything perfect, except my server was not as good as other times, bad body language
Overall, the food and service was good. We would rate the food very good except that the Halibut was overcooked and a bit bland. We didn't think Sunday would be such a busy night for the restaurant especially since we got there early for dinner (6pm). The kitchen was slow coming out with our main course and dessert. It is a nice place for dinner if you are not in a rush.
My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our selections - mine a wonderful lobster bisque with tasty Caesar salad, my friend an omelette which she also found delicious - it was a good choice for a lovely Sunday.
I ordered the creme brule from the dine-out Vancouver menu. This is my favourite dessert, and actually the only one I order (this is also one of the reasons I picked the restaurant). Soon after the main course, the waiter informed me that they had ran out of creme brule and I had to pick something else. Nothing on the dessert menu appealed to me, so I tried to get a specialty coffee instead. I was told it was not possible and I ended up with a sorbet instead, which was completely frozen. Maybe it's just me, but it doesn't sound to me as the best customer service from such an acclaimed dining spot.
We were generally very pleased. Since we were using the Dine Out menu, we expected perhaps smaller portions, but the portions were generous to say the least! Service was good, yet unobtrusive. If I have any criticism at all, it is that the use of fountain mix tonic water does not produce a great gin and tonic!
We just ate here for Dine Out Vancouver. Food and service were solid and we were amazed at the portion sizes (very generous). The Horseshoe Bay location is very cosy - worth a visit.
We had dinner for four friends and used the Open Table reservation system for the first time.I requested a window table. We were given what I consider to be the best seating in the house, which was no doubt an advantage thanks to the O.T. reservation.
The food was perfectly cooked and delicious. The service was prompt and friendly. We will continue to be patrons of this unique venue and will take friends there to show them West Vancouver's finest.
As always - excellent atmosphere and excellent food and service - One of our favorite spots to dine.
My husband and I love Lobsterfest at the Boathouse. We find the quality of food and service at the Horseshoe Bay location to be far superior to the Boathouse Restaurant in our neighbourhood. It is well worth the drive.
Another fine evening of dining at our favourite Vancouver area restaurant! Great food, excellent service, and a wondrous view of Horseshoe Bay watching the ferries come and go.
Fabulous place, food for lunch was delicious and they are extremely accommodating!! You can't find a better view and scenery either! The lunch prices are great too.
Good food, nice ambiance, friendly service and outstanding view. Need I say more?
older kid friendly ok, especially in the evenings when majority of patrons are looking for quiet intimate dinner setting.
our server was exceptional, very courteous and helpful in making special arrangements for my father's birthday luncheon.
I've been to the Boathouse Hoursshoe Bay a number of times and have always enjoyed it. My most recent one was lunch with my wife on her birthday. We both ordered the same item, the Cajun lobster, with subsitutions -- salad in place of rice & vegetables, garlic butter added. The food was spectacular, the lobster succulent, the flavours exquisite! But so was the service, and the ambiance. And the price! I highly recommend it. I made a special point of sending a note to the restaurant to thank the chef and staff for a wonderful experience.
It was our first time at the restaurant. Phil, our server, was excellent. The baked potatoes that came with the steak, not so much. They were a bit hard. The batter on the fish that came with the fish and chips meal was thick and oily. We commented that we could go to The Pantry for their Wednesday night family special and pay half the price for better food.
We loved the setting, ambience, view and service, but were disappointed with the food. We had high expectations, especially for the price.
We always take advantage of their coupon specials and book before 6:00 pm to get their drink specials of $4.99. Good value for the money. We know what to expect and they deliver consistently.
The hostess was under the impression our table wasn't ready, so we waited 15 minutes, and as it turns out, it was ready when we arrived. The food was mediocre at best and took forever - we waited almost 1 1/2 hours for our main courses!!!! The waiter was forgetful but friendly. My main course had burned pieces in it - it was dreadful. Would not return, nor will we be back. Such a shame - we were celebrating our son's 19th birthday...
Ever since they "re-vamped" the menu in early December, the quality of the food is not what it used to be. Portions are tiny, prices are expensive, and taste is not as good. I paid $28 + HST for a measly 4 oz. portion of halibut, that came with literally 1/4 cup of mixed rice, 1/4 a red pepper and literally (Yes, I counted) six green beans. I used to love this restaurant, but if this continues I will not be back.
The Horseshoe Bay Boathouse has a particularly nice atmosphere with vaulted ceilings, log structure, lots of glass windows overlooking the marina and mountains. Decent food, consistently done makes this a favourite local and a great place to take visitors to Vancouver to give them a slice of B.C.
Overall very good value in an enjoyable setting. Service was very good, the food quality was as you would expect relative to the pricing.
Will certainly go there again.
Both my guests raved about their fish and chips. As for me, the steak I had (Sirloin, 7oz) was the BEST steak I've ever had in my life (and at my age, I want you to know, I've had my share of steaks!!!)
We dined at the Boathouse retaurant with another couple on New Years Eve,and we really enjoyed everything about our evening.Thank you again.
Great cuisine; great ambiance; great view. A must!
An enjoyable afternoon on a glorious day. The view from the windows is spectacular. Wait staff were friendly and efficient. Food was ordinary, nothing special that I noticed.
I would go again
