Boathouse White Rock Ratings and Reviews
have been to the boathouse before but not in about 6 or 7 years as white rock beach is a gongshow in the summer. this time went for anniversary in November. parked right out front of the restaurant. food was great, service was great. no complaints. even better....IT WAS LOBSTER FEST!
The food was average but the service was extremely poor. The restaurant wasn't overly busy but we were virtually ignored. Took quite a while for our order to be taken and the server never checked back after bringing our meals. I had said I would drink water for dinner but had to request a second glass of water. A dessert menu was dropped off at the table but the server never returned to take our order. We finally gave up and finally flagged somebody down to request our bill.
the place is impressive and very conducive for small private occasions. it is also well organized and the staff are very professional. i will highly recommend this restaurant to my family and friends who are looking for a dining experience with a touch of class.
Expensive meal, none of us four friends were satisfied with the quality and flavours.
My salad was not bad, but didn't have any exciting or unique flavours, something I could have made at home. My friends did not enjoy the calamari. The coconut cod was also much more soupy than expected, and the flavours were not well balanced. The coconut taste could barely come through.
Our server was helpful and pleasant. The steaming bread basket before the meal was appreciated. Decor was comfortable and classy.
One thing that wowed me: the proximity to a beautiful beach and sunset view was amazing.
I did not realize parking in White Rock would get so expensive (3.00 per hour until November, when the parking price drops in half). Also, the ride down to the Boathouse was tough in my little Honda, the streets very, very steep.
We enjoyed a lovely dinner served by a very gracious waiter. Had fun w/ the staff. Celebrated mom's 93rd birthday. The only difficulty was the bathroom. Staff unaware that the handicapped washroom was located on a different floor from the main dining room. Mom had a very hard time using a regular stall with her wheelchair. So a little bit of education to staff would be very helpful. I was able to use the handicapped washroom with my wheelchair, after dinner, as we exited the building .
The Boathouse was a wonderful place to celebrate our anniversary. Staff were accommodating to offer preferred seating and paid attention to our needs without over-fussing. The restaurant has an excellent location with full waterfront views and outstanding sunsets! Highly recommended.
Got a reservation for 8 on a Saturday at six. We checked the patio because they don't take reservations for that area. It was going to be too long for such a large group so we kept our dining room reservation. We were there a little early and they accommodated us. Great food and service. I love their Summer Smash cocktail. It's seasonal but it should be on their menu at all times!! I ask for it even when it's not on there, like I did this night and they were able to make it for me. Try it!!
we went on an evening when the snowbirds were flying over white rock so it was going to be a busy night. our food took an hour and a half to come and it was not good. mussels were not fresh. burger looked dead.. i live in white rock..maybe that's why i never go there in the first place...maybe i go there every 2 to 3 years to be reminded of why i don't go there in the first place.
While the food was very good and the service passable I feel that we could have been told about a parade that was happening in White Rock. I actually spoke in person to someone at the Boathouse twice on the phone and was given no hint that there would be a parking problem nor the possibility of being blocked in for the duration of the parade which I understand lasted until about 11p.m..Luckily I have a handicapped card and was able to convince one of the security people to let us out of the parking lot. I feel that we should have been cautioned as to this problem.
As Canadians from Nova Scotia, but having lived in FL for seven years, I wanted to have a Pacific salmon meal and show my wife the area. The south side window table was great the meal was very good and our waitress was highly efficient as well as being informative re the local and regional demographic changes in the last twenty years. We will be back and hope we have her as our waitress again.
