Boat House Waterfront Dining Ratings and Reviews
They have lost their focus.
Lots of accolades, lovely waterfront dining press, and they have never been more busy. The focus is clearly on turning tables and making your dining experience as expeditious as possible.
The pros - their food remains good although plating is now wholly uninspired. Tim, our waiter, continues to be good but when rushed he starts to show signs of stress.
The cons - and get ready they are plentiful. Pave the parking lot. It's not crushed shells, it's not even decent gravel. It's mud and I don't need to ruin shoes and get another carwash to say I had fair lobster fritters. And when I say, via reservation and on the phone, that we're coming in to celebrate multiple birthdays at least mention it. I don't need a free dessert, but would like someone to at least acknowledge our special occasion. Remember when CG in Providence used to cover the table with little birthday themed decorations? Boat House doesn't. And don't put a table with two kids in the bar. It's not pleasant and it's not particularly classy. Lastly, slow down. We had drinks, appetizers, entrees and desserts in 98 minutes. Tables were cleared at frenzied speed and the goal was to give as many diners a mediocre experience as opposed to giving less people what the place is capable of.
Boat House is not the same. For a restaurant that opened poorly, to one that became truly excellent, it is now meh. If you ate there between 2013-2016 and had a phenomenal meal I don't think you will today.
Everything from our chowder, Caesar salad, fritters, seafood scampi, haddock with chorico, to our fabulous desserts, especially the earl grey ice cream, were delicious. We loved Kyle the waiter and Exec Sous chef Lou. Very special meal, with a fantastic view and great menu and food. Can't wait to come back and sit at the bar or patios!
Lovely atmosphere...one of the most romantic places to dine...talk windows, subtle lighting, water view, tables well spaced apart lend to a sexy romantic evening. Drinks are divine. Menu choices plentiful and versatile. Food delicious and presentation had wonderful eye appeal. Wait staff polite and knowledgeable
Perfect perfect perfect
Our experience at Boahouse was wonderful from beginning to end. All the staff was wonderfully pleasant. We were very impressed with our server, Kyle. When asking about our order he inquired if we had any allergies he needed to be aware of. As parents of a child with food allergies, even though we were alone, this was wonderful to hear that your staff take allergies so seriously.
We were celebrating a friends birthday and had a very nice evening.
It was dark by the time we got to the restaurant, so we really couldn't see the water to well, but that didn't discourage our evening sitting by the bay.
Our food was delicious and the wait staff were helpful and full of smiles throughout our dining. The wine choices were very good also.
One in our party is Gluten Free, and I must say, The Newport Restaurant Group is very accommodating to that need, so it was all good.
It is a very popular place to go even in the winter on a Thursday night.
We will dine there again:)
New Year eve dinner was pleasant. Used Open Table four days before the date and only 10pm reservation were available. Was concerned due to that was when the kitchen closes. Arrived at 9:45 and many tables were available.... This made for a quiet dinner that we were able to talk through... love that this resturant is in our back yard ..it’s the go to place in Tiverton
I ordered a sirloin with mashed potatoes and carrots! The steak was cooked as requested, however, plate was loaded with super salty gravy after I had ordered without, , mashed potatoes were extremely salty as well and carrots under cooked. I told waitress that I did not order meal with gravy and that mashed were extremely salty. Waitress returned with a bowl of mashed potatoes only. I ended up taking the bread plate and put my steak on that plate and ended up eating the steak alone as mashed potatoes were still very salty and she did not bring new carrots . Over all it was a disappointing $80 meal that ended up giving me heartburn from the gravy . This Restaurant is a hit or miss on the meals. They do not have the consistence that other high end restaurants seem to have. This has been my 3rd time that I was disappointed with my meals.
Our waitress was amazing! First time dinning here and it was incredible. My only dislike was the table we were sat at was tight quarters to the tables next to us and you were kind of in the other tables conversation. I’m excited to go back when the weather gets nicer!
