Overall great experience, The Boathouse is always good!
Met up with friends from out of town....easy to make the reservation, good location in Richmond, and food was good as always....Nice to see swordfish on the menu....everyone enjoyed their dinner.....thanks Boathouse Richmond....always a good place for dinner....
Good selection of local Canadian Pacific seafood. Seafood chowder was very good. Everyone was able to find a dish, from burgers to finely prepared fish. Great selection of local BC wines.
Tables in dining room are too close together, seating by window is cold, our service was rushed. Food was delicious.
Great food and customer service! Great place to eat with friends and family on a Special Occasion.
There was hair in one of our meals, but we got another one so it’s fine. Also noted that a guests meal (not our tables) was not as hot as the people managing the dishes wanted or was the guests, so they decided to “microwave it for 10 seconds.” I understand it was probably a busy time but honestly I was expecting more from a restaurant with such high prices to at least have the decency to use a hot pan to heat it a bit more rather than use a microwave. If not what would be different from heating up frozen food from the microwave at home? But besides that the food was pretty yummy!
They didn't really take our reservation. We went to the bar, and they basically didn't come get us. Sat across from the bathroom. Fixed menu. The shrimp was undercooked. They ran out of their desert option (tiramisu).
Food was cold when delivered and had to send back. Service was slow.
Went for dinner for Valentine’s . They only had the set menu available.. fair enough. I ordered the calamari starter, prime rib and added snow crab for entree. Calamari was fine. Prime rib was over done (asked for medium rare and it came out completely brown) snow crab was over done or old .. very difficult to remove from shells as the flesh was stuck onto the shells completely. Husband ordered the crab whiskey soup starter and sirloin and snow crab entree. The soup was great but had a lot of pieces of shells inside it. His steak was fine but his crab was also bad. For a seafood restaurant this was a huge waste of money. Our entrees took 45 min to arrive (the waiter apologized twice for this.. he was great it wasn’t his fault) and we were so impatient that we just asked for our desserts to go. Overall, the worst Boathouse location I’ve ever been to and I’ve given this location two other chances prior to this. It will definitely be my last.
Slow service. Fish portions were small and dried out. Rice was cold and bland. It isn't the place it was. I've had better fish out of a Capt. Highliner box. It's shameful that a place that calls itself "The Boathouse" can't put out a nice piece of halibut or salmon. We won't be going back to that one. The location in New Westminster is much better.
Was there for Valentines, had a reservation for 8pm but the restaurant was behind schedule. Lobby was so full no where to sit, did seem organized at the lobby desk ( I am sure it was overwhelming) We found a place at the bar to sit as we waited for our table, once seated we were sitting in the middle of the bar, awful table, waiters walking by us, it was the main path thru, no privacy. Waitress was great, I am sure it was a crazy night just because it was Valentines. The only other thing is the absolutely terrible parking lot which we couldn't get in and had to park way up the road which is very busy with traffic. Not an ideal to walk on that road, since there is no sidewalk. Will check out the patio when spring/summer arrives.
Went on Valentines good was great, service good however waited a long time to be served.
Went for Valentine's day. Food took extra long due to kitchen delays. When entree did arrive, the halibut was overcooked. Had to wait for another one which wasn't worth $44. Not best quality halibut and was not cooked well the second time either. Disappointing. Ambience was not good. The tables close by also has issues with their food. Shrimp not being cooked enough and steak not being cooked well. Should have proper chefs on duty when it is a special event.
I know valentine’s day is difficult to find something. But for the money I payed the food was inadequate.
Would not recommend this restaurant; the food was mediocre at best and very over priced. The only redeeming quality was the service which was great.
Dine Out Vancouver , we visited often and only wants to celebrate birthday early and try this menu, it’s almost full and they let us in the bar area becoz they said it’s more quiet becoz many big tables with last group of people, services are great from receptionist to our waitress .. and we sat near the fireplace and it’s so cozy, foods are good and fresh, love the menu
We enjoyed the lively and friendly atmosphere, and the Excellent fresh seafood!
obviously a seafood restaurant and not a steak house. Ordered steak med. rare but steak med. well and slightly burned. However, the N.Y. strip was tender. The coconut shrimps were excellent.
Server was very friendly
Nice place with awesome food for a casual occasion.
Superb friendly service from staff/waiter despite very busy Dine Out Vancouver occasion. All 5 adults ordered Sirloin steak and 4 of us found steak very chewy even when medium rare.
Keep in mind for next Dine Out Vancouver...Come at least 15min early as absolutely no parking available at restaurant during this busy night so had to park/walk quite a distance.
Jillian was our server. She was great with service and her attention to details. The food was brought out at a good pace. The servings were small though for the appetizer platter. It says serve 3-4 and it fed 2. That was our only complaint. Otherwise it was great and a good change from the usual!
We found hair on the appetizer and in the icream dessert!
I’m surprised that on Saturday afternoon there was almost empty in a restaurant. Since there was only one server to serve, we waited about 10-15 min to get served on the table. Server was nice. Portions were big but My mom said the oil for deep fried fish and chips was not very fresh. Other food was ok.
Tried the dine out menu, enjoyed the crab stuff salmon a lot. Service was a little slow tho because we were seated in an area with another large group so we waited a while for our food
wonderful service and cozy environment 👍
good for family or friends group. kids friendly~
Excellent dinner and service.
Nice and cozy place for a good dinning. Food come in a good portions and very satisfied. Waitress, Janice was very sweet and attentive.
The meal and service was wonderful. The meal was outstanding -- done to my taste. The service was excellent. The price for my meal was very good. I would recommend the restaurant to my friends.
Terrible experience. Ordered peeled off tiger shrimp and they gave us white peeled off shrimp and charge us the same price.
We asked and they told us not to worry since they will make the dishes the same weight as tiger shrimp.
But the problem is that they didnt ask us regarding the out of stock issue and whether to continue with white shrimp.
If customer service is important in the restaurant industry, i will give boathouse as 0 as they dont think about what customers need but themselves.
Will never go there again.
nice place to visit with friends and family, food is good.
Food was delicious and the waiter was really goodd
the portion is much smaller than before and taste is not as good as last year.
Food was good. Service was alright especially our server made a few mistakes. Overall still good.
Average food. Outstanding service. Should be better compare to the price.
Totally disappointed, not like it used to be years ago.
If a true chef or cook had tasted the bread, butter and salad, they would never have allowed these to be served to customers.
It's also time they study up and learn the difference between teriyaki and miso - that was NOT miso sablefish.
Cheap dessert cake, slow service, overall very poor experience.
Despite a nearly empty restaurant and having made reservations we waited several minutes to be seated, and were then crammed into the corner of an overcrowded area of the restaurant where they were putting everyone. Ambience consisted of a good view of the parking lot - I can understand this on busy evenings but would suggest to the Richmond Boathouse that quieter nights might be a good time to treat your customers to a decent table, even if it means your servers have to walk a few steps further. The service was fair at best, the food was good but nothing more. I will not go the Richmond Boathouse again as I've had similar experience there in the past.
The food and service was excellent. We were only a bit disappointed as we did put the reason for us going to the restaurant was to celebrate our golden wedding anniversary. The table where we sat was not at all a place where you would spend a special night. Our table was located beside two ladies who were talking with such loud voices. We were glad they did not stay throughout our dinner. Other than that the lady that was serving us was excellent. I would have presumed that when we came in the lady that took us to our table would have checked the occasion on our reservation and maybe she could have put us in a better table.
Atmosphere/Ambiance: A spacious restaurant that is looking a bit on the weary side. It's as if it has been at sea for a long time and the elements had made it's shine dull. The room is unremarkable. It was a quiet night and due to the size of the place, it felt deserted.
Food and Drinks: The experience is overall salty like sea air. Any delicate, sweet flavour that seafood might impart has been washed away by a high tide of salt.
The Crab Dip for 2 is snugly surrounded by thick, dense, tortilla chips that is closer to baked pita chips. The dip is creamy and oddly nondescript in flavour. The Mussel Steamer Pot is a handful of plump, juicy, sea monster sized (ok, I exaggerate, but they were huge) mussels soaking cozily in a shallow pool of garlic white wine butter broth. The broth is once again one note: salty. The mussels were plump and juicy, doing all they can to sincerely apologize for being partnered with a boring, salty partner.
