Boathouse Richmond Ratings and Reviews
It was an anniversary of our first date eleven years ago ( but that was at the Boathouse in New West). We thoroughly enjoyed a pre dinner martini in the bar prepared by Rachael, and she was really friendly and attentive. We moved to the dining area and had a super dinner there, and were well served, but actually wished we had stayed with Rachael. Would definitely go back there!
We stopped in for appetizers prior to picking up our daughter at the airport. We were there for their happy hour and had the pork sliders, coconut shrimp, buffalo wings and bruschetta. We had to send the wings back as they were cold. There were only two sliders which were not worth the price. The shrimp and bruschetta were good.
Disappointed with the décor and quality of food. However service is very good, we're well greeted and our waiter is excellent. The décor need to be upgraded. Food quality is so so We liked the crab legs but not the halibut. Both fish and rice was dry. Grilled vegetables were hard, seemed uncooked
An okay meal but the food was as good as other branches of the Boathouse. I was particularly disappointed that I requested a friend's birthday be acknowledged and it was ignored. Overall, a nice environment, decent service but average food which seemed overpriced.
Made reservations and was on time but waited long for our food even though there were only 2 of us. Saw our food sitting in the warmer for a long while and so my fish was dry when it came and also very bland... sourdough bread & garlic wine sauce that came with the mussels were our favourite part of the meal unfortunately...
Jasmine, our server, was very pleasant and attentive.
Upon being seated at our table, the server was clearly stressed, her first words were "how busy we are!" Obviously, we could see this however this is not something you should convey to guests, we didn't need to be told this. She was rude, in a hurry and very cold to us. In fact she was also "MIA" during the meal with no one filling in for her even if she was on a break. The crab cake I had ordered was very dry and clearly had been sitting for awhile was tasteless and cold & came with "greens", no dressing. When I asked the bus person for some salad dressing she told me what dressings they had & then said that she'd get our server to assist us. Good luck with that I thought! So, the hostess (not our server) came by a few minutes later stated that the dish didn't come with dressing but the chef recommended the apple cider dressing (which was wonderful on the dry bed of greens). Once my husband was about to pay, he pulled out the Landry's card and the server (finally showed up!) took the bill to the manager. We travel all over the US and Canada and visit Landry's chains. It was only then that the server "buttered up and changed her tune" when she "accompanied the manager" to our table. She mentioned "Oh is this a cowboy hat?? (My husband had placed on the seat beside him), she said "Oh this is awesome!!!" she had only passed and stood over it 6-7 times through the course of our visit....What a performance..... Interesting. Not impressed. He was a nice fellow but seriously, you need to work on your wait staff. This was horrible. We have been to the Boathouse Richmond at least 7-8 times in the past 4 years in our travels. We certainly will not be back to this Boathouse & we intend to take this further to the Landry Group over this very poor dining experience.

The food was good, but expensive. We waited an hour from the time we ordered out food until it was served. I noticed that the people around us seemed to get their food sooner than us. I had the impression that somehow our group of 7 were either forgotten or ignored. I won't be back
The calamari appetizer was ridiculously small. When I mentioned it to our server she simply agreed and left it at that.
When my coleslaw portion arrived with my meal it was hardly noticeable on my plate.
This time I didn't just point it out , I showed our server and asked her to bring me a proper portion, which she did.
I choose to have most of my family occasions celebrated at The Boathouse and accept the fact that the food costs tend to be high but I also expect the portions to be fair.
I am loyal and will continue to dine at The Boathouse but I will start to voice my concerns to the servers if appetizers and side dishes disappoint. Thankfully, the main courses were enjoyed by all.
The restaurant is next to a Richmond Marina west of the outdoor patio and windows. The food is good but not exceptional and a bit overpriced. The service is good but always slow. Having said that, I come often as I like the menu selection that includes lots of local fresh fare and a view to go with it.
The food here was good. The service from Fiona was excellent and we enjoyed the evening. BUT - people, it's time for a major reno of this location. All of the other Boathouse locations are pleasant and inspiring - this one is tired and old. We have no complaints about the food or service - just the facility. We only go to this location once in a while because it's more convenient to our home but we strongly prefer going to other Boathouse locations. Fiona made up for it with great service.
The salmon was over cooked. The rest of the food was average. Our server was rushing us and removed plates while one of our guests was still eating her dinner. Just overall terrible service. Ordered a bar drink, mojito and told, she didn't know why, but the bartender told her it would take a long time so she suggested I order something else. Our special wedding celebration for our friends as they were leaving to elope the next day, was not what we had planned. Especially for a $245 bill. Will never be back.
Disappointing. We ordered mixed seafood grill, cab baseball cut sirloin, etc. The sirloin tasted good, but it was very chewy. That's very unexpected. But the most disappointing was the salmon from the seafood grill. As soon as it arrived, I knew it's way overcooked even before I touched it. It turned out to be exactly that, and it was completely dry for the same reason. And there's only one lonely piece of scallop. Overall, it's overpriced for average food and service. We used to like boat house so much, but now I'm not sure whether we'll ever go there again.
We arrive at the restaurant one hour prior to close, this may have had an impacted on our meal. I ordered the Wild Maple Salmon; I had mashed potatoes and veggies. It was overcooked. I had better. I like my Salmon med-rare. Perhaps it was cooked too long. The staff was great. Even thought, they were closing soon, they were attentive, refilled our drinks, and even asked us if we wanted dessert. I was impressed with the level of customer service.
I have been dining at The Boathouse Richmond since some time back, and the food and service have always been good. During the last visit, the waiter (female) was not that friendly-did not any smile at all, until the time we requested for the bill. Not so pleasant situation. But the food was still good.
I had made a reservation and upon arrival the hostess tried to seat us at the very back of the restaurant in the corner! After questioning her and complaining she did move us to a nicer table. Patrons should not have to do that. The restaurant was half empty! Meals were just ok and nothing to brag about. We havebeen to the Boathouse on previous occasions in White Rock and thoroughly enjoyed the food, so not sure if the RIchmomd location was just not up to standard. We won't be back and will not recommend it to anyone. Even had to ask what the specials were. Very disappointing to say the least.
