On our recent trip to Vancouver we visited The Boathouse Richmond three times: two visits were outstanding; one was less so. As always, the menu is excellent: something for everyone - adults and children alike - and generally well prepared and presented. As you might expect, the difference lies in the service and our sincere thanks to both Gillian and Heidi for two wonderful meals: you went out of your way to make us feel welcome and paid attention to every detail. Sincere thanks to you both!
Boathouse is not like it used to be its unfortunate used to be my favorite place. Used to have a friendly server got asked for bread basket would not have to ask not to be rushed. The vibe is not there I come for the food that's always good.
Food and service were excellent. Be aware, aircraft taking off do create noise if you're sitting outside.
Great waiter!!! He gave us wonderful service all night
I was charged for an item that I didn’t even order. The menu descriptions were poorly written and not very kid friendly
Decent food, good service, bit on the expensive side, but not unexpected.
It was a bit difficult figuring out something my father could eat. He is a celiac, and most of their items had gluten in them, including the sauces. They were quite accommodating in helping figure out altering a few menu items, however it would be nice if they had a wider selection of gluten free options. The food was quite good.
Noisy and kinda tired looking. Oysters were really good but the trout was overcooked. Ahi was ok. Just average. Service was friendly and attentive though.
Took a clients here for Dinner, the location was great for the event we were attending in Richmond, the service was good but our server was a bit pushy and wanted to rush our orders, the food was good for those that did not order seafood those that did order seafood said it was overcooked. Overall i would return as it was a good restaurant and my meal was excellent (Lobster and Crab Ravioli).
The food quality is just so so. Price is expensive for that quality. Service is OK. Environment is pretty good.
Service was very good, food is getting to be boring. Menu has changed for the worse in the past few years.
Service was slow
Forgot the bread until we asked
Drink refills were slow
Bill sharing was hard
Communication was difficult
It was Father’s Day weekend and expected very busy, and would understand that service would not be very good. However, services is very poor and worse than what I can imagine and way below expectation. Our waiter not even come to ask “ how is everything”, I think it is the basic to follow after serve you the meal, unfortunately not even meet this minimum expect. After placed the order, our waiter did not come to my table at all until asked if we want dessert and the bill payment. Someone else brought us dishes and no one else come to talk to us in between.
Great Service, Good Food, Nice Ambiance.
I walked to this restaurant from a nearby hotel so didn’t experience the hassles listed in some reviews regarding finding the location.
Even with a window seat, the view is ho-hum but the ambiance is very pleasant.
Friendly competent staff.
Food was good and the service was good.
Requested to change table but were told that other tables were reserved. However by the time we left after 2.5 hours the “reserved” tables were still not occupied.
As a single diner, I sat in the lounge. The hostess assured me I could choose to sit at a 4-top, which was a nice touch (but reasonable, given the early dining time and empty room). The Okanagan field green salad was a good choice-- many different textures and flavors. I had the seafood pasta, which was good, but not outstanding. A craft old fashioned cocktail was well made, but the wine selections were middle of the road, which was a bit of a disappointment. Service was excellent, with prompt attention.
I often eat at the Boathouse at other locations and found the food at other locations to be better. The service was great though.
Dinner with the wife and no kids 👍🏻
We enjoy the Happy Hour very much and foods are excellent, services are great, special thanks for Heidi who always served us, my friends enjoy the restaurant with value price of foods and services ! And thanks for the Manager who always remember us too...
Steaks were perfectly grilled, salmon was wonderful. Our server was knowledgeable & very personable. Will definitely return!
Waited for 1.5 hr for all of our food!! we were hungry like hell....
My family and I have been to this location several times for different special occasions. This past visit was for Mother’s Day. It was a very busy evening, the restaurant was full of people and the staff were definitely doing their best to keep up. Once our party was sat, we were served water right away and then preempted that the kitchen was very busy so it would take a bit longer than usual for our food to be served.... totally understandable. When all our orders were given to the serve we patiently waited for refills on our water, bread for the table and for our appetizers to come. I had requested my toddler’s food first as she was hungry and all that was ordered was a bowl of plain rice. An hour and 15 mins later... the appetizers came.... 30 mins after that, I had to remind the server about the small bowl of rice. 2 hours after ordering we finally got our entrees. The food was ok, it served its purpose to nourish us. My ravioli was just a bit warm, not hot, the salmon was a bit dry, but overall the food was ok. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to finish my food because the server unfortunately accidentally dropped a utensil onto a water class as she was clearing someone’s plate, and it shattered in front of my 2 year old daughter’s face, sending shards onto the table, her clothes and her high chair. To say that I was panicked was an understatement. I cleared the shards and large pieces off of her lap and her hair and arms right away... but who knows if I was able to get it all. My biggest concern would be that shards of glass got in her mouth or her eyes. The server casually apologized a few times and went back and forth trying to clear the glass. As glass got everywhere, there was no way to predict where else the class could have gone. I couldn’t finish my ravioli, by husband didn’t finish his fries, and the high chair was still sprinkled with glass slivers. My appetite was lost, and my worry for my child and glass slivers was real.
Food came out room temperature and quality was average.
Disappointed but nice and friendly waitress
Our waiter needed some interpersonal training. I needed to ask for water, which to me is a big no no. There were two Rose wines on the menu and he just brought me the more expensive of the two. The food was great, portions good sized.
We went on Mother’s Day and it was a little disappointing. We got there before the dinner rush but the food took over 45 minutes! We even asked if the kid’s dinner can come first since it took so long. We got a “let me check with the kitchen” and didn’t hear back after. Value for food was also lacking. I don’t think I’ll be returning.
Good is great service is good little bit pricey though
Overall experience dining here was okay. The staffs are nice, friendly and accommodating especially our server. I will definitely recommend this place to everyone and will definitely comeback and dine here in the future.
It was a hot day. The restaurant's air conditioning did not kick in until we were about to leave.
The food took a long time to come after ordering.
Overall, the quality of food and service were not up to expectation.
The food was great. Thanks for another great time!
No complaints at all. Service was great as was the food. The manager was very polite as well and came to check on us after our meal. Seems like the staff at this location really care about service.
Food is good, the warm sourdough bread is always something to look forward to! It's soooo good.
We had two dishes which both had a hollandaise sauce. That hollandaise was quite sour, too acidic, which affected the balance of the dishes' flavours.
Otherwise great service as always and rest of the food was tasty (nothing wowed though).
Had eaten at the Boathouse years ago and had a good memory. Was not disappointed. Went for an early supper while over nighting in Vancouver to break up a very long trip. Great food and service. Not the greatest location but this should not deter anyone from going there. This is a good value restaurant doing what a good restaurant should; serving good food with good service at a fair price! I will be returning to the Boathouse next time I am in Vancouver. Would have given an overall 4.5 rating if that was a choice.
Good choice of food and service was very pleasant and efficient. We hit the restaurant during lunch at what seemed a very quiet day with only a few tables occupied. It was strange then that food arrived cold, good but cold. Perhaps some inattention in the kitchen and unusual from our previous experiences.
The only thing I can say didn’t go as planned was that I requested a table with a view. Our table wasn’t with a view but other than that it went well.
The food was good bus service was extremely slow.
We were a party of 4. The medium well steak was served very well done, almost like a rope in coloration. We sent it back and was advised a new one would come out. The manager even came out saying it wouldn’t be long as it was on a rush basis.
20 min later it appeared, really way too long.
We also ordered fish which was so over cooked it was tough. Edible, but tough.
I had the Poké and opted for the additional crab meat, which was fortunate since there was so little tuna in the Poké bowl.
The other diner had the Seafood Chop Chop salad where the salmon was rather dry.
The atmosphere was great, however the food was a disappointment.
I haven't visited Vancouver in a number of years, and this was on my list, as it is a Landry's facility. It is just a few miles from the airport, and I was staying nearby prior to my flight out. This was dinner. The location appears to be historic. The seafood was good. I got the "3 course" version of my seafood (sesame encrusted salmon). The crème brulee was tasty.
Love the Happy Hour offer before the main dining and to celebrate our36th Anniversary, we came back 2nd time of this month! Wish they can keep going and more snacks in Happy Hour ~ special thanks our waitress Hedi and she’s excellent
Came here for an early evening business meeting. Ambiance is definitely more casual compared to weekend/evening crowd.
Our server, although was very attentive gave me a more casual aura about her.
