Boathouse - Port Moody
Not sure if the bread is usually provided, but it was not this time.
The food and service was great, my only complaint is that they made the portion size smaller for dine out, our mains weren’t even served on full sized plates.
The Cesar was so plain had no taste. The main course took awhile, and wasn’t good for the price. The waitress was so busy that didn’t have time to come over, so had to flag another waitress
Dine out Vancouver menu wasn’t good this year!
Service was slow and they were out of what we wanted to order for dine out Vancouver. It's a beautiful location but tame - mostly families. Would come back for happy hour but probably not dine out.
Excellent food. Great location. We had a lovely time.
The boathouse is a favourite spot for our group of 30/40/50 something ladies. The six of us always love the ambience and can count on service that is happy to let us chat and take our time. The only negative was our food. Three of us ordered omelettes. They were tremendously overcooked and were dry to eat. It was a shame as crab and shrimp that is over cooked is tasteless. Sadly I believe this is typical of this chain. Slow service (which for a group of women is typically a good thing) and food that is average.
Was very busy and service was a little slow. Food was well worth the wait! Loved it!
The food was really lovely, and the service was polite, helpful and not intrusive.
Seating was great, the ambiance was amazing and the food was great.
Great food and good service. Celebrated my wife’s birthday and they surprised us a dessert with a candle in it. Staff were friendly and very knowledgeable.
The curry dish was different. I purposely chose The Boathouse because I enjoyed the seafood curry the last time we visited. This time, however it was more or a curry rice bowl, rather than a traditional green curry. After my hesitation passed, the new dish was just as good as the old. Not sure if there was a menu or chef change, but after the initial disappointment, the quality of both of our dishes met our lofty expectations. You are really paying for the name, location and the seafood draw here. You can get just as good seafood dishes elsewhere, for cheaper. However as a date night location, we will happily return.
We went there for a birthday meal treat with another couple. The waitress was very patient as we first ignored, then carefully deliberated over the menu. She gave us good advice about appropriate appies. We all thoroughly enjoyed the meal. A free birthday dessert was provided, so that was a happy bonus. It's a bit on the expensive side, but service, food and ambience were all excellent.
Food was left under the heat lamp for too long. Wasn’t very good.
Upon arrival we were greeted by a server and placed our food order. Then for some reason our server basically disappeared and we had to ask bus staff for water fill ups and to place a coffee and drink order.
In fact we had to enquire three times to staff passing our table for service , while the neighbouring tables were getting attention our group of five (2) seniors and (3) adults were essentially ignored. When time came to pay I once again had to leave the table to find a staff member to help us. We had been regular customers of the previous Horseshoe Bay location when it was open and have frequented every Boathouse location since its closure including Port Moody on numerous occasions. Too bad the service has degraded.
The worst food I’ve ever had at the boathouse. Definitely not worth $65 per person.
The restaurant itself is beautiful. The service was very good.
the food was great, sitting on the patio next to the fireplace was nice but it would be nice if they could have the flames but turn down the heat. Our server seemed to have been relatively new, but he tried and did a decent job.
Thanks for another great night at the Port Moody Boathouse.
It was a set menu and we both had the steak and lobster. Both were excellent. I would have preferred to have the option to order off the regular menu, and would not have opted for dessert. There was an option to add an additional lobster tail for $44.99, which is outrageous as an add-on. I've looked at menus from other notable seafood restaurants in Vancouver, and none of them are charging this high. This includes Joe Fortes and Coast. I'd be surprised if there were any takers for the add-on. It would have been a maybe at $25 for just one lobster tail.
Unfortunately, the Port Moody Police were positioned outside the parking lot and were stopping all Boathouse customers for DUI checks. This was specifically targeting only Boathouse customers and left me with a negative impression of the overall experience. Fortunately I was below the limit. I would be logging a complaint with the Police if I were Boathouse management, as it is not right to be targeting their customers. A checkpoint at a more random point down the road would be more fair to target drivers in general, and not specific to Boathouse customers.
Overall I really like the Boathouse and will return.
New Year’s Eve
Excellent food and service. Thanks for a great night.
This is an average restaurant charging above average prices for mediocre food. None of the dishes were terrible but they were just not very good. Their specialty calamari was below average / the salmon was overcooked and dry / scallops and lobster were fine . I would not go again.
Seafood was fine nothing special. Pasta Rustica was abysmal. Food seemed very salty. Totally underwhelmed. Wont bother going back. Lots better for the price.
The food is very ordinary considering the price. The service is so bad. I asked for hot water and she even offered to put in lemons, but she ended up forgetting to serve me the hot water. Since we went around 4 and it wasn’t busy at all, I don’t understand why she’s not accessible when we need something. My husband and I won’t come here anymore
The table was excellent and the service was very good. We were surprised by a complimentary cake for dessert which was a nice touch.
The cut of the sirloin was chewy on one end. Was expecting better food quality at Boathouse. Caesar didn’t taste good at all.
Was good, service a bit slow & under whelming.
The first time we have had a Christmas Dinner at the Boathouse. Great service, which didn't make up for an overpriced and disappointing meal.
Christmas Eve dinner.
The waiter did the absolute minimum. Did not introduce himself, follow up on our drinks, or interact with us at all. He simply took our order and brought our bill. Not what we expect from the Boathouse.
We had a gift card to use otherwise our last bad service visit would have stopped us from coming again. Half empty restaurant and did not get a window seat. 1 waiter seamed like he was doing all the tables. Took awhile to take orders. Receved our appies and then our drinks that were ordered first. Did not get to order more drinks. My meal was wrong but i didnt want to wait again. 1 persons steak had a huge peice of grissel. Were happy to go home to have dessert.
We three had a fantastic dinner with a fantastic view. Our waiter was super attentive and cheerful and helpful. Our food was delicious. We had steak with lobster tail, ahi tuna in sesame seed and another ahi tuna done differently. It was all so good. The view over the water from our wi die seats on the enclosed patio was gorgeous. We would easily go again and would t hesitate to recommend.
This is a great location for special occasions. Nice atmosphere, great service and delicious food!
Our regular venue for Xmas lunch, always dependable, we had a very friendly waitress .food is dependable, service was good, noise level a bit high with several, groups in the room.
Disappointing. Seafood pasta full of bones, mocha ice cream cake so frostbitten we couldn’t eat it, coffee as weak as dishwater, and a table so loud beside us we couldn’t hear each other across our table. Only upside was a table with a view. Server did not seem interested in filling our drinks or checking in on us. Will not be returning.
Just a great meal and great service!!! The Boathouse never disappoints.
Our entire experience was only exceptional because of our server. She was amazing. Not ditsy, but a professional who obviously has been doing this for a long time and has many years of experience. She was knowledgeable in her wine selection as well as the food. She even surprised us with a complimentary slice of ice cream cake for our 17th anniversary.
The restaurant is beautiful and modern. The only thing that's negative in this case is the price being charged and the portions served. This reason makes it easier for us to choose other seafood places. That is the only reason I would not recommend Boathouse to others. The food is phenomenal but lets face it, an average Canadian family cannot afford these prices. Otherwise the experience was good
The server was good. She was friendly and helpful. The support staff need more training. We were not checked in for more coffee at a brunch. We had to chase the bus girl down. She poured black coffee into my latte cup. I believe the normal protocol would be to provide a new, clean cup. We enjoyed our brunch, overall. Thank you.
We ate at the Boat House for lunch / brunch On Sunday which was nice except the Calamari appetizer wasn’t very good.
Great location & nice building interior!
We enjoyed being here, we celebrated our anniversary here! Food is good, service is fast, and ambience is pretty nice! We will come back!
