Boathouse New Westminster Ratings and Reviews
A yearly gathering at this restaurant for a few friends. I was disappointed as they ran out of salmon. How can a seafood restaurant run out of salmon? In addition, for the 2 of us that ordered it, there wasn't even an offer for a free coffee or dessert to apologize. Thought something would have been a nice gesture. It's all in the details, and sadly I was disappointed. Next time I'll call ahead to confirm their stock. :) Will try again next year.
Great food and service. The big negative, however, was parking. Construction at the entry level prevents you from finding a spot there. Understandable. Underground, there was one single disabled spot by the elevator (that was occupied). Two lonely very empty spots were designated for electric vehicles. Really??
Nice setting and view. Serving staff could do with more training or service. They should never be walking around looking aimless. Carry a tray or check to see if someones wine needs pouring. Other that that the staff was cheerful and tried to be attentive. They just need better training.
Have to say we were a little disappointed with our experience at the Boathouse in New Westminister. The service was very very slow. The server himself was friendly and he was being "shadowed" by a new employee. But considering the restaurant was very slow and we were the only table sitting outside service should have been faster. Food quality for the most part was good. The market salad was excellent! The fish tacos were quite "fishy" and the chilli chicken had way too much sauce on it, it was literally drowning. The drinks we fabulous~~ too bad we couldn't get a second, but with the service being so slow by the time he came back to ask about a second round we were pretty much done our lunch and it took so long to get the first round we didn't want to wait around. It's a great setting on the waterfront. Great people watching on the boardwalk. We would give this place a second chance mostly due to the location.
Awful!! Lobster and potatoes were undercooked. I feel so bad taking the family out for an anniversary. The waiter was just too busy. The cooks forgot the rice and the waiter just made an excuse saying the menu is wrong. During dessert, the waiter didn't even ask if we want to order dessert drinks or anything. Next day I'm buying pepto bismol from undercooked food. Please don't get sick at this location.
The food was the most disappointing part of our dinner there. This is a seafood restaurant and when you order an entree that is $36.99 you expect it to be pretty good. My salmon was over cooked and dry and for all I know could have been frozen, not fresh. I sent it back and did have another piece made up that was a little better. I also had prawns and a scallop with this meal and all of it was under seasoned.
I've been to this location several times and I must say that this visit was far below what I have come to expect. Very poor, slow service. Food quality was just ok - nothing great. I was really disappointed and will have to think long and hard before going back.
My Wife and I have been dining at the Boathouse for years. In particular the New Westminster location is a favourite. Our server was pleasant and professional. I did note that the oysters came much later than the other appetizers. Then right away the main course came. My wife, son and I had the steak with seafood skewers while my second son had fish tacos and my daughter had pasta. The food was delicious as expected. There was a small mixed and I received red potatoes instead of mashed but not the end of the world. We ordered dessert and had to weight a long time for the third dessert to show up after the first two were delivered. It was a great night out with the family in a very busy season. I feel that our server was top notch but that the supporting team was not. Will we come again? Absolutely!
Had a decent birthday meal for my mother in law. The food was of decent portion sizing but lacked flavour. The crab on the chilled seafood tower tasted as if it was salt cured and took away from the dish as a whole. However the oysters and mussels on the tower were extremely fresh and delicious.
has always been my family's 'go to' favorite restaurant (for many years) my daughter's birthday Friday night, reserved way ahead of time with her birthday noted. I, being a lobster fan, recommended it to everyone - it was not sitting on top of the tail as usual, it was cut down the middle and cooked in the shell, came out dry and having to be picked out bite by bite. I complained and was told that's the way they do them now??!! My granddaughter had the cheezy pasta (which she loves and always gets) she got a bowl of grease 'n cheese, with very little pasta - could not eat it! My birthday daughter did NOT get a dessert or a mention! She left 2 birthday cards on the table and they have disappeared (nothing in them, just birthday cards that no one can find) no one! 5 adults & 2 kids, so not a cheap evening at the 'boathouse'! Will never go back which makes us all sad :(
Sorry to be negative but the food was awful. The service was excellent throughout the afternoon. I ordered the fish and chips with a side of mayo. Approx. value $24.00. A bit steep for 3 small pieces of Cod, very spicy fries, flat tasting coleslaw and no lemon wedge. The timing was fine, and the presentation was fine. The coating on the fish was very dark which indicated to me the oil in the fryer was old. The spicing on the fries overpowered everything on the plate so I couldn't taste the fish properly. The in house tartar sauce was a combo of a Thousand Islands dressing and more spices which again overpowered the flavor of the Cod. The side of mayo never came. The cream Brule was tasteless and it consistency felt like it had been made days earlier. Very disappointed. My guest had a cup of fish chowder and a side of sour dough toast. For 2 people without alcohol and tip $75.00. Outrageous for a suburban restaurant. A bit of gouging. You know what they say, a sucker is born every day. I will not return.
We went there to celebrate my wife's birthday. We were early for our reservation, but we were seated shortly after arriving. They assigned us a nice window view overlooking the river.
Then server was friendly and helpful. The food tasted good and nice presentation.
You have to pay for parking though.
The bathroom was nice a cool, considering it was hot outside.
Definitely will be back
