Boathouse New Westminster Ratings and Reviews
From the moment we entered, we had a good experience. The service was excellent as our waiter was brilliant; friendly and approachable and attentive. Unfortunately the young lady who seated us mentioned the coat rack was available but didn’t take my coat to hang it up or offer to show the way. The people who brought our food did not being the pepper and our waiter checked and brought it both times. Justin I believe his name was. Fabulous food. Best steak we’ve ever tasted. Sat by the window and had a pleasant view of the Fraser. Ambience was romantic and tasteful. We will be back.
Service was overall very good - flexible, and accommodating! But Greeting could have been better - the only place we been to that could not hear "Happy New Year!" on new year's day
Also, heat was down and no portable heater as backup (but blanket was offered). Paid parking was hard to find.
Waiter was not accessible at times and had to wait for at least 5 mins. I must say I had better dining experience at different boathouse location before.
Not happy!!! It was New Years Eve!!!! When I arrived at Boathouse about 35 min before my reservation. I was greeted and told I would be seated as soon as the table was ready....the hostess was nice. Then she asked if I wanted a window, but said if I was cold then she can seat me somewhere in the middle...which I was ok with. Then couple mins later told me there was. Table but kinda tight with a few other guests. Which I just said I’ll wait till my reservation. So as I’m sitting n waiting at least 4 ppl came in and out and I over heard something about 75.00. So I walked up to the hostess and asked her what she was talking about. That’s when she told me there was a set menu that we can only order off of. So I asked her why she didn’t tell me as I’ve been here doe so long and she said oh I thought u knew. Then she said we told everyone about the menu when we confirmed reservation. I said no one called me. She said oh did u boom today and I reply yes. She then said yeah we didn’t get to call anyone today. Then I asked her why it wasn’t online when I looked at the menu she said oh we tried but the computer kept crashing. I was pretty upset that I wasn’t told as I was super excited I even got a reservation at Boathouse. I was upset I couldn’t eat everything nor could my friend eat anything off the set menu. The hostess then said to me there paddlewheeler pub u can go to. Umm no thank you. There’s a reason why I booked fine dining. Got me even more upset n now I’m walking up and down new west to find somewhere to eat. Thanks Boathouse for an amazing experience on NYE great start 😡
Had to flag down a waitress after sitting for 15 mins with noone coming to even bring water. Once we ordered grom the set NYE menu one in our party was told they were out of their selection. Appies came fairly quickly and were good but then we waited an inordinate amount of time for our main course. The meals were delicious but it shouldn't have taken 75 mins to get. Dessert came very quickly after the mains but cheesecake was still frizen and creme brule had seperated.
Forgot some of our food they sat us in front of a freezing cold window and was freezing cold the entire dinner , we didn’t feel it was worth the money and have had much better dinners on a average day , and was expecting a little better for a New Year’s Eve dinner
We attended for Christmas dinner. Service was slow and not server seemed like she was new. Forgetful and not very knowledgeable. I ordered the Christmas Dinner. Turkey and stuffing. Not very hot, room temperature. Portion was really small. Totally not worth it.
The food was great tasting, but a very little amount!
I had asked the server a couple questions about the food and she wasn’t sure if there were sauces, ect!
Proper etiquette is she should have found out!
As soon as we finished the meal, she was there with the bill!
It was a very good experience overall. Service was great. Food arrived fast. Only thing we weren’t fond of is the snow crab dish. It was very disappointing plain dish that no sides came with it and we only got crab legs that had very little crab meat in it so I didn’t understand the point of the dish especially that it doesn’t say in the description that the dish is only crab legs. Other than that, the other plates were cooked well with great taste and service was very good as well. i would go dine there again but just avoid the snow crab dish.
The food was great. The service was terrible. Our waitress was seldom seen. We finished our entree and sat for almost half an hour with dirty dishes on the table. We were not offered desert or coffee. Finally we went to the bar to pay our bill. We won’t be back.
After a shaky start at the Hostess stand (3 girls seemed confused with the open table reservation) we were sat right beside a loud table of 4 when the restaurant was almost empty. The table was 2 feet away from ours.
We were offered drinks almost immediately but when we only ordered coffee and tea service went downhill from there. (We had to ask for milk and cream which should have been served automatically I think.) A refill of coffee or hot water was not offered at all!
Food came after a reasonable amount of time, but I burnt the roof of my mouth with the scalding hot hash browns which was odd because my eggs were only warm.
The waiter asked how our meal was but only when I was 95% finished.
After a lengthy wait, we had to ask another server to hunt ours down for the check.
They had 3 or 4 servers and only 7 or 8 tables so they werent that busy.
I was a bit disappointed but at least the food was good.
I love this restaurant, service is excellent in the dining room, not as good in the bar. It's a bit noisy but one is still able to talk without shouting. The food is fresh & the cocktails are innovative & sensibly priced. I am looking forward to eating there on a sunny afternoon.
The Boathouse does not disappoint! It's been years since I've been there so was curious if the service or food had declined over the years. It has not! Still great food, perfect location, good service. It was a super foggy night and having not been there in years, it was tough to find. Lots of construction in front of the hotel and restaurant entrance. Missed it the first drive pass. Not very good signage in the dark. It was frustrating in that respect.
A yearly gathering at this restaurant for a few friends. I was disappointed as they ran out of salmon. How can a seafood restaurant run out of salmon? In addition, for the 2 of us that ordered it, there wasn't even an offer for a free coffee or dessert to apologize. Thought something would have been a nice gesture. It's all in the details, and sadly I was disappointed. Next time I'll call ahead to confirm their stock. :) Will try again next year.
