Boathouse New Westminster
Food & service were great with exceptionally good value during Dine Out Vancouver.
Parking was a bit confusing though, two different parking stations, different rates in the same parking lot.
Overall was ok. Food is pretty traditional vs other restaurants of this caliber. Server you could tell was pretty new and inexperienced. Overall I was give it a average at best.
Great service needs parking
Excellent service and great food
The food was great and the prices are great too! The server was quick and attentive and the atmosphere was lively. I would definitely come back again.
Wonderful !!!!!!! Always a satisfying food experience.
I had a reservation for 2 for a "date night" on Saturday night at 8. I realize this is prinme time but I had a reservation. No table available. I had to ask for seats at the bar. I wasn't offered that option. The manager talked to me at the bar and I asked about a gluten free menu because I have Celiac. Didn't have one but the chef could accomodate me on most menu choices. Then we ordered and the waitress informed me pretty much everything on the appy menu was not gluten free. They didn't even have a gluten free soy sauce. That's an easy thing all restaurants should have. 45 minutes later still no table and had to ask. They needed my name. They weren't even trying to seat us. Then the seafood meals came and the shrimp were breaded. I ate one before I realized. I was bedridden the next day. The table by the window was drafty as hell. The windows and doors are leaky and it was cold outside. I never got a chance to check out my date's figure because she wore a blanket that she brought herself. Not offered. My first date with this beautiful lady that I had invested about 6 hours of chat and a nice coffee date into did not afford the opportunity for "chemistry" revealed in the reluctance to kiss me goodnight at her doorstep 20 yards away from the restaurant. The next day we unmatched each other and we both will have to accept our ultimate fate of dying alone.
Dine Out Vancouver 2020.
Waiter was attentive, and the food was delicious. Fresh flavours and product makes the coconut cod dish.
I have learnt from hole-in-the-wall restaurants that you shouldn't judge taste by plating or presentation, but I was worried when the bowl was placed in front of me.
Still a nice evening with my love.
As far as Dine Out is aware, the food simply wasn't very good. Couldn't even chew certain parts of my steak. Certainly not worth the price.
I would never go back and wouldn’t recommend
I ordered steak. My steak was really chewy and tough. It was like chewing a gum. Gave up and practically half of the small steak was thrown away. Service was wonderful our server was Sean he was wonderful. But food was not worth it at all
Our server and the manager of the night was amazing!!! We originally went to the white rock location, but when we got there, we found the door was locked and then I called them and asked, they sz their manager decided to close early (probably due to the snow???), and I told them my reward will be expired and so what should I do, and the lady on the phone sz “oh, I’m sorry!” (But nothing they would do for us!!!) We then quickly went to the New West Location and glad that we made it there! The food and services were super!!! The manager honored our rewards and our server Ivan surprised us with a slice of icecream cake for my birthday!!! It was a wonderful night spent there with my family and we will definitely be back again!!!
Something that had never happened before at the New Westminster Boathouse, an excellent meal was spoiled by the failure to appreciate that fine restaurants present feasts for the eyes as well as the palate.
Sauces are all pre made and no options if you need gluten free and are allergic to garlic. They refused to make a shrimp cocktail for my husband who had no other options. They had shrimp. It a seafood place. served rice that was old and they fried it to heat it up and served it dry. A total a complete disappointing rip off. Would never recommend or go back after such a horrible experience. They were not willing to go out of there way at all to help.
Girls night out
My friend and I enjoyed our visit on Jan 3. The food was really good and the service was great. The wine was a little expensive but we enjoyed as well.
As always the food, service and ambience in the dining room was a wonderful experience. Lovely spot for a special occasion dinner. Thank you.
Great food, excellent service. Thanks to the chef who customized my order perfectly, as per my request!
Food was amazing. Service was terrible. 2 hours to get our meal. Made a reservation and still had to wait 30 mins to get a table. No waiter to ask for water etc.
Not sure... will definitely NOT go back for Xmas or New Years.... it took 2hrs before we got our entrees....food was ok... only warm
Waiter was ok... did not ask about any further drink orders.....manager was ok... and admitted about the slowness of the kitchen....but there was a lot more too it than the slow
I would like someone to respond to me about this reservation . Thank you
The food, though good, was not cooked as requested. Also, there was quite a delay between the appetizer and mains.
It was Christmas Day and they had a set menu for $50. Our server didn't check on us much. Food runners brought food. I ordered seafood chowder, medium rare prime rib and creme brulee. Soup was a bit bland and nobody offered fresh cracked pepper for soup or my dad's salad. Prime rib was spot on. Sadly they ran out of creme brulee. I opted for cheesecake but it was dry as heck. They then offered a mocha Kahlua pie which was melted. We ordered $14 bourbon old fashioned cocktails and we got something with ginger beer in it. It was watered down. The manager took the drinks off the bill and gave me a card for free appetizer next time. He was nice. Sadly the waitress was either too busy or didn't care enough to check on us. The table next to us also had issues with their meal.
Enjoyed a good dinner experience. Food better than the previous two times. Turkey portions too small; steaks good. Would come to this event again.
My friend and I had the fixed Christmas Menu..Both of us chose the "Turkey Plate," excellent a good plate full, white and dark meat, excellent stuffing and veggies, but I only got one brussels sprout - not a problem. We both chose Wild Greens to start - excellent, my friend had Prawns topping the Salad, as an add-on - and proclaimed them superb, as were the greens. Service was splendid, prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, pleasant and charming. Meals was hot; and Creme Brûlée Dessert - perfect. Fixed Menu price was $50 each - well worth it. We'll be back.
We decided to change tradition and eat out for Christmas this year after recently loosing our dad. We had the Christmas special place setting. The food was amazing. Our waiter Ivan did an excellent job and was very attentive to our needs and made our Christmas dining experience very memorable. Thank you boathouse and Ivan.
Xmas Eve, so busy of course, but called in advance to advise we might be 10-15 minutes late. No problems in holding reservation. Great food and superior service, by a host of people who I am sure were looking forward to getting off early to enjoy their holiday. We got one of the last parking spots right out front too. Thanks for great evening.
Busy today and a bit noisy.
As always, the Boathouse delivered with great food and service. Very good location for a business dinner!
As always, amazing! Service, food, atmosphere excellent! My favourite restaurant.
Part of our meal was very poor in product and presentation (King Crab and Steak Filet) The filet was at best one of the worst grades of beef and was sent back. Yes they refunded the $ 39.99 for a 6oz nothing and was left with the king crab at $ 39.99. Glad I did not pay $ 80 for that meal. The other meals were good tasting with the exception that the vegetables were over cooked and the presentation lacked the necessary savour fare to charge what they do.
The service was not exceptional, plates, glasses and wine bottle left on the table at time of dessert delivery and not until we told them to remove these were they removed.
Over $ 300 for a mediocre meal with not great service (except the wine steward who was great)
I found a long black hair under my vegetables after eating some. They offered me a new plate , but after that no thanks. Gave us a free dessert.
Overall was a great experience, but my omelette was overcooked. I didn’t bother saying anything because I didn’t want to wait while others ate.
Our lunch was very good. It was quiet, between 11:00-12:30 pm on a Saturday. Strangely, the service was not as attentive as previous times when we were there for dinner. The server wasn't around to ask if we needed anything so we flagged down one of the other servers to top up our coffee. There were 4 of us at the table, celebrating my husband's birthday and Landry Select had given him a $25.00 coupon towards his meal and a free dessert. That was a nice bonus.
It was good! Little pricey
The hostess could not find the reservation when my guests arrived ahead of me so something a miss. Another hostess eventually found it.
Food was not hot. Did not seem fresh. Lots of potential . Great locstin
1 of 4 steaks was a bit overcooked but all the other 5 meals was quite enjoyed.
Service at the beginning and end was a bit slow but not too concerning.
Although the food was good the portions were so small as to be laughable. The “lobster” or scampi was the smallest I’ve ever seen, for my wife and myself. Must’ve spent a lot of time trying to find them that small!
Even though this was a steak and lobster “special” it was anything but! I used to go fairly often to the BoatHouse, but it’ll be a long time before I go again!
We went on a Tuesday night. The restaurant was pretty empty so the noise level was pretty low. It was also nicely decorated for the holidays.
Service was attentive and friendly.
However the food was not good at all.
1) The calamari appetizer was OK, but better at other Boathouse locations.
2) The seafood pasta my friend got had seafood that wasn't fresh which caused the whole dish to smell funky and the cheese used was weird. It sort of smelled like parmesan but sure didn't taste like anything. My friend had to get a cola to drown out the awful taste.
3) My miso crusted halibut wasn't "crusted" at all, it was more like breaded then fried. The coating was too thick and worst of all the halibut was overcooked and dry. It's such a juicy fish I thought it'd be hard to mess up halibut! (Usually avoid choosing fish dishes in case it's over done…) Honesty I could've cooked that fish and left if juicier than last night's chef…it's like they left it in the pan frying and went to do something else.
Yet the restaurant wasn't busy at all so there's no excuse for not paying attention to the dish. We didn't want to waste food so opted not to have the plate redone. I pretty much only ate the veggies on the plate.
Anyways the management took my feedback on the dry fish and wiped it off the bill so it was alright. My friend didn't voice her thoughts about the pasta though so only my halibut was taken care of. We're OK with that.
Overall low quality use of ingredients and poor cooking execution. They need new chefs and new supply chain management ugh. We won't be visiting this location again, even though service was good and management was prompt to take care of the issue.
The 9oz steak was too salty and really small for the price. The calamari were mostly breading. The only food that was good was the sourdough bread and the crab dip.
New west boathouse used to be our go to spot for fine dining, but don't think we'd go back again
The crab was not up to standard. The rest of the food was amazing thank you.
