The food, service, and experience were SUPERB!!! We will definitely be back!!!
Friendly professional service. Some of the best steaks we’ve ever had! Very cozy rustic location.
Enjoyed the food - shrimp and grits appetizer was excellent also the pasta primavera
The restaurant is on the historic waterfront in a converted cotton warehouse. It has been in town for decades and the fun ambiance, outstanding food and outstanding service showed us why! It was a leisurely meal of incredibly good seafood, and we would return in a heartbeat!
Awesome place. The bloody marys are great.
Great service at bar and table. Best shrimp and grits I have had in a long time.
The service was great, the food was wonderful. I've walked past this place so many times in -- I'm glad we made the decision to give it a try. It's now on the list of favorites on River Street!
We've been here several times... will definitely be back!
Excellent food, great service, interesting history. Must try.
Food was great! Cosmo martini was awesome! Another date night success!
Good food and drink. Very happy w/our experience
Best flavored ribeye I have had for a long time. The mushrooms tasted excellent with the steak! Great food at a good value! Glad we went there on our last night in Savannah!
My GPS map showed this restaurant on a street a block above the River Walk but it is ten steps above the street and easily seen. (They could be difficult steps if you have issues. I use a cane but managed it. A walker could do it and a scooter could slowly. A wheelchair would be a tough push uphill as it's steep). I looked at the menu online and decided what I wanted but as I was walking in, two guests said that the shrimp was excellent so I changed my mind. Hailey was my server and she was delightful. Although I made a reservation early (5:45) because nothing else was available until much later, the restaurant didn't start to get busy until well after 6:30. Hailey was very gracious and allowed me a bit of time with my glass of wine. I ordered the crab bisque. I didn't taste crab nor the sherry advertised online. It is a somewhat "mealy" soup with a heavy spice taste (ginger?). I never found any crab/sherry flavor. It was still interesting but I never would have guessed it was crab soup. I'm not sure what it was but I did enjoy it. This is one reason I dropped the rating to "4". I ordered the shrimp and steak. I asked for the steak med/well and it came out perfectly. The shrimp was indeed good as was the steak. There is a special house sauce that is interesting and the bread is wonderful. I also downgraded the rating because I thought the food wasn't worth $80+ for a single diner. The steak was good but could have used a bit more seasoning and wasn't in the "melt in your mouth" price range. But I wouldn't hesitate to order it again. The crab soup was okay but simply not recognizable as a crap bisque. The wait staff was awesome (and knowledgeable of the history of the building), the food was good but you will pay tourist prices. If there was a 4.5 rating, I'd give it.
We went at 5:30 on a Friday after the river cruise ride. We made reservations but didn't need to because the place was empty when we got there. The filet mignon was dry and wasn't cooked great. My husband had the stuffed talipia and he said it was delicious. The ambiance was nice, kind of dark. We got a free dessert because of our anniversary which was very nice. I would recommend this restaurant and probably go there again.
Loved the environment; it was charming and relaxed. We were seated at a table with a great view of the waterway. Our server was nice but very forgetful and had to be reminded to bring drinks, our appetizer and so forth. Food was excellent!
Food was very good and server was equally good, but we were there for a business meeting and couldn't hear anything. Very loud restaurant ... made worse by being seated next to a group of 6 very rowdy guys. I'd definitely go back again
I am not sure why everyone else finds this restaurant excellent to exceptional. I thought the food was good, but lacked something. For example, the She-Crab soup had very little crab and tasted like it had been canned or made from a dry mix. The Shrimp and Grits were good, but not outstanding. This was our first trip to Savannah, and our first restaurant that we visited. After spending more time in Savannah, I can say that this restaurant is only average.
Very nice restaurant and great food!!!
Shrimp and grits are a rating of 10/10. Absolutely wonderful.
The gracious and outstanding staff made this the best place to eat in Savannah. They also had delicious food and great atmosphere!
Food was excellent in an old cotton warehouse on River street
We had the Salmon and Filet Mignon and both dishes were perfection.
Very pleasant experience. We dined at Boar's Head the last night we were in Savannah and wished we had visited earlier. Definitely a place we would not hesitate to return to!
Excellent food! The salmon with peach barbecue sauce and shrimp and grits were fantastic
Cozy yet spacious, right by the water, gorgeous views, unpretentious. Friendly staff. Food is fresh, not overseasoned. Simple clean menu options and everything is delicious.
My husband and I stayed an extra day after vacationing at the seashore and came to Savannah for the day. So many restaurants were recommended to us but my husband decided on Boar's Head Grill and Tavern. Great choice! We so pleased with our evening; an all and all great experience.
Our table was ready when we arrived. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful; very attentive.
The food!!! The food!!! Was to die for! Delicious isn't a strong enough word!
If we ever get back to Savannah, you can bet Boar's Head will be a stop for us!
One of the nicest evenings out in a long time.
Boar's Head Grill and Tavern is a must for dining in Savannah! Whenever we are traveling on I-95, we always detour for lunch. The food is absolutely delicious! Some of our favorites are the she-crab soup, shrimp & grits and fettuccine alfredo w/ chicken & prosciutto. Our server (as always) was awesome - engaging and genuine. Cocktails are tasty and well made. I really couldn't recommend a restaurant more highly. I wish we had one in DC!
Great dinner, every time!
We had a wonderful experience. The food is really good, and the ambiance and service were great.
Service and meals were exceptionally good. One of the best steaks I've had in quite awhile. We'll be back on our next visit to Savannah.
Place was nice and staff very welcoming....felt a little rushed even though plenty of empty tables. Our server kept trying to clear our plates when we weren’t done. Food was good, but pricey.
Small portions, my pasta primavera was tasteless.
Food was great for price. Steak came out same time as appetizers which was sort of annoying. Restaurant was very Smokey due to the kitchen. Overall great experience
The Boar's Head is not five star cuisine; however, for my wife and I it was a five star experience. Our host/waiter Nathan welcomed us warmly and found us a table with a river view. The lunch menu offered many items that looked good; however, we went with the daily special - a barbecue chicken club sandwich. The sauce is a house made peach barbecue, my wife's fries were excellent and my pasta salad came with abundant artichoke heart and black olives. Since it was our anniversary they offered and we accepted a complimentary desert, choosing the chocolate bread pudding which had a unique texture and taste we both enjoyed. The interior of the restaurant maintained many features of its 250+ year history. This was our first visit and we intend to return (off season next time when parking may be easier).
My wife and I enjoyed a great dinner at the Boar's Head Grill, I ordered the Filet and Crab Cake and my wife the BBQ Salmon. Both were prepared to perfection. the service was excellent also. I would highly recommend this establishment to dine.
Great bar and dining area! Service was excellent and everyone enjoyed their food-- we had scallops, beef and elk. All were very good! Would definitely go back.
Great location and awesome friendly service. The food contained way too much butter, cream and/or oil for our liking, but if that’s what you’re looking for then this is the place for you.
This was our second visit to Savannah and we chose to eat at the Boars Head and we were not disappointed! Husband ordered the ribeye which was delicious and I ordered the salmon which was also very good! Our waitress was attentive and polite. If we are ever back in the area again we will definitely stop in again
Electric had went out but just added to the ambience. The stuffed shrimp was beyond.
Outstanding meal with exceptional service and fair pricing
