Bluewater Bistro & Bar
We had an 8:30 AM reservation and the bistro opened at 8:30. My wife, daughter and I were the only ones there. The hostess let us know that all the tables were reserved and our table was the worst. No view, and our backs to the entrance. I pointed out that we were the only ones there and she said okay, " I will make an exception." While we were there the bistro turned away at least two groups without reservations, even though by the time we left at 9:15, there were only two other tables with patrons seated. Thankfully we did have reservations on a beautiful Mother's Day Sunday.
We love going to Bluewater Bistro...partly because it's in our own neighborhood and partly because its such a small, intimate venue.
After living in the Harbour for eight years and enjoying the Blue Water Bistro we are saddened and disappointed by our experience. The fried chicken appetizer was served black, greasy and was inedible. The focaccia appetizer was served like dry toast and the butter had a refrigerator taste. Also inedible. The lamb shanks and mashed potatoes were edible - the lamb was tender and both were flavorless. I would compare it to good airplane food.
Fun, cozy atmosphere. Great service and great food!
Valentines dinner at the bistro was great. Nice cocktails and wine. Good service. Food was great. We had the clams, grilled salad, steak and paella. What amazing views of the ocean!
My husband and I went to the Bluewater Bistro for a Valentine's Day dinner. There was a special and very limited menu that evening and almost all of the dishes contained chorizo, pork sausage. After feeling upset and left out, I spoke to our waiter and was able to order Gnocchi as my main dish. The Gnocchi were a side dish for an expensive beef main dish...and I was charged the full-price of the beef dish! We shared the Lettuce Salad with the grapefruit and orange sections and only the top layer of lettuce leaves had a small amount of dressing and the bottom layer of lettuce had NO dressing! We had to ask for bread 3 times and then after we got the bread, we had to ask for butter. There were no salt or pepper shakers on our table. The restaurant was very noisy.
based on the v day menu i would not recommend trying this place out. we will give the regular menu a shot in the future. they also advertise views, there is no view.
Beautiful views. Food nice and tasty but very expensive 14$ for a salad. Music was awesome
Food was good. New management has raised prices and changed staff. The prices are higher than other restaurants.
Service was good. Drinks were good. Food was mediocre. Next time I will dine upstairs at the bar.
It was okay. The hors d'oeuvre, at the bar were sub par. The restaurant was a bit pricy for a causal outing. Loved the seafood past and the chowder was great. Service was excellent. Nice views.
Surprisingly good for a golf club-related venue. Food was good but not particularly flavorful or creative. Service very good, decor was nice and the live music (three musicians singing mostly folk-related tunes) for dinner was a real bonus - not so loud as to drown out conversation, and they pretty darn good.
Seems to have changed ownership to the association. Food and service was better prior. Still had nice building; they made some cosmetic changes but about as nice as before. Had tri tip that was hard/stringy. Menu needs more seafood.
Came here for our anniversary (56). Great food with outstanding location and ambiance. Will be back soon.
Always a pleasant meal here and how can you beat the views of the ocean!
Service was outstanding! Food was average. The atmoshere was nice, comfortable, relaxing.
We have eaten here many times before. We are locals in Bodega Bay and have often joined friends here who actually live in Bodega Harbour. This time we were joined by friends who used to live in Bodega Bay and wanted to have dinner in your restaurant. The food was very good, but over priced. The service was atrocious. None of us received our meals at the same time and the fourth only received her's after we asked where her meal was. The first two served had to start eating ahead because it was getting cold. After dinner and dessert, we ordered one coffee. It was placed on the table and the waitress left. A few minutes later we had to ask for sugar. None had been offerred.
I usually like to have my salad delivered prior to my main course.
We have gone there for our anniversary for 11 years. The first few years, they had a chef, and the food was great. We went there on the 21st. I had written about it being our 11th anniversary, aND requested a specific table. Not only did this throw them off, and we were seated overlooking the pool, THERE WAS NO dinner menu!!! Mac and cheese? Really??? They used to have the most wonderful bread, but we were told they no longer have a bread warmer. I hope they are going out of business. I recommend going to the wharf and having the dinosaur nuggets, it would have been a much better experience.
We love the new decor. We do not love changing the dining room into a bar. The Thursday night music is amplified as if it were a room 4X as large. People were having to literally scream to have a conversation. The music was actually really nice. If it were acoustic it would have been wonderful.
We ended up taking our food to go because we could not handle the volume of sound in the room. We both ordered the Asian salads with meat. The salads were very tasty, and the four ounces of meat was probably two ounces.
Excellent experience. Food and service were great
Love the new decor. We had the Lobster Ravioli- delicious & the Tomba. Great service, good dinner !
Wanted to give Bluewater Bistro another try with the new chef and menu and also see the renovations. Menu is fairly limited and not at all creative. There didn't appear to be much attempt to use local seafood or produce. They were out of one of the 6 entrees and "needing to check availability" of another - on a Saturday night! The renovations make the place look less shabby, but there really isn't much of a change.
If you want to avoid the crowds of the popular Bodega Bay restaurants, this is the place - and for good reason.
Read about new chef and wanted to give them another chance.
Crab fondue cooked to paste.
Ahi/Tuna cooked to opaque white.
Fish tacos missing some items listed on menu.
Fairly busy but not full and still slow service with mistakes.
The wait staff was nice and friendly. Just food and the efficiency of service poor.
This place should be a gold mine. Beautiful but does not have vision.
Was brought the wrong drink. Was brought my suggested order instead of my actual order. Was charged my suggested order instead of my actual order. Food was great but wasn't enough to save the experience considering the prices, will not be returning.
Very tasty Dagwood sandwich and rack of lamb. Substantial portions. New menu. No so formal anymore. More inviting, casual atmosphere.
Comfortable setting, great Bodega Bay view, good food, good service, good price.
The newly redone place is fantastic and the new sports bar oughta rock. Bodega Bay has a new place!
Good food. Love the remodel. Great service. We had the lamb chops and the tuna and both were very tasty
The day before the reservation the restaurant called to say it would be closed due to renovations. The caller said that he would notify Open Table.
This is a nice restaurant, however, the dining room is dated with old wood tables and no tablecloths. The service was excellent, however, there were only a handful of diners on a Friday night. The menu selection was very limited, with about six appetizers, three salads, and about six entree's. We were told that they would be remodeling and changing the menu, so I would give it another try...
Beautiful view of the ocean along with great food.
The tombo was outstanding. Linda was an awesome server.
I was a tad disappointed by the lack of Chocolate in their dessert menu and limited sea food from their main menu. THe coconut shrimp and Pot stickers were devine.
The service was courteous and friendly.
This place was great. The menu is limited, but everything we ordered was fantastic. The service was great and the view was ok. Would definitely recommend for the "cozy" factor. There was live music but it was not too loud in the dining room. Linda was awesome.
Terrible, Terrible, Terrible, and Terrible.
Casual nice dress, smaller menu choices, innovative chef, visually appealing dining room, and welcoming staff.
Service was good but the food was not. My veal chop was over cooked, dry and difficult to cut with a steak knife and the vegetables had apparently been sitting on the steam table for a long time.
Great meal with a beautiful view
