Bluestone Ratings and Reviews
We usually have a good experience at blue stone but this time it was awful .
The wine was sub standard and the fish tasted of gasoline !!!
I could not eat it . I had my husband taste it and he said it had an overpowering taste of gasoline .
Not sure if I will go back
Bluestone was one of our go-to restaurants from when it opened until we moved to GA in 2014. This occasion was to meet up with old friernds who came into town to visit us while we were there for a short time. Both of our friends have garlic allergies and this was expressed to the server. We asked her to check with the chef to see if certain dishes had garlic in them. At least once she returned to our table and had forgotten to check this out. The salmon which the two women split was dry and pretty tasteless. Because we sat and visited with our friends and, therefore, kept the table longer than we normally would have we would have left a larger tip but because of the above issues only left a normal tip. Hopefully, the next time we dine at Bluestone we will be able to give them 5 stars again.
It has been awhile since our last visit and it seemed to us that the appetizers were not at the expected level. The Fried Green tomatoes were too firm and the Cream of Crab soup was too floury and needed more Sherry. Otherwise, the entree's were good and the Service was very good.
I recommended to our friends that we dine at Bluestone, even though they wanted a closer spot in Hunt Valley, and I was so disappointed. We had a 6:30 open table reservation on a Tuesday night and asked for a booth. We waited at least 20 mins and a booth was never even mentioned. We thought about getting a bottle of wine but everyone wanted something different, so we gave up on that idea, so I had to choose from the by the glass list. Your wine by the glass needs to be updated. You didn't have a single Rose or white blend. Same old, same old. Two folks in our party had a salmon dinner and were very happy. One gentleman had a salad with a beef filet and had to send it back as it was rare. He ordered medium. I ordered the corvina fish dinner and it was terrible. It wasn't anything like what I expected. A dark brown thick mushroom sauce was on top of it...like a gravy....not something you would expect on fish. The chili oil that was mentioned in the description was not evident anywhere?? Yucky dish. Disappointing night.
Overall wonderful experience. Bartender gave happy hour pricing up to the last minute. Waitress, Joyce, was great. Food was very tasty and good value. Only criticism was parking was a challenge. It would be nice if valet parking was offered. Looking forward to my next visit.
Impressed with the high level of service by front desk, wait staff and manager. We were a bit late due to a traffic light malfunction, and he did everything he could to seat us as quickly as possible on an unexpected ly busy Tuesday evening. Later on he checked on our table to make sure that every was to our liking.
This was my first visit to Bluestone. I thought the menu had a good selection and food was tasty. This was a birthday date with my best friend. We wouldve rather sat near the bar or in a more lively area. Instead we were in the back room which very boring and quiet. I would go back but prefer a better seating area.
We were 4 diners, all over the age of eihty. After a warm greeting at the door, we were ushered to a booth at a back corner - no tables behind or at either side of us. What a gift! We were able to have a nice conversation without being bombarded by noise. Our server was charming and efficient. The food was very good, with the short ribs of beef and the seafood stew being the best of the four choices, but everything was really good. We are all looking forward to a return visit.
Excellent dinner. HUGE portions. Easily could have shared a meal. Had the shrimp signature shrimp. There were like 10 shrimp. We shared between 3 people easily. They were delicious and very filling. I also had the lobster corn chowder -delicious and SUPER filling. Then I ordered the crab cakes as my meal and I was expecting smaller cakes as I find elsewhere but these were GIANT and delicious. Couldn't finish them even though I tried. I'd order less next time and add am item if desired. Good value and excellent service.
I thought I would be going to a high class restaurant and I was disappointed. The restaurant was far too LOUD! No tablecloth made me feel like it was a classy diner. Food was very good, but beyond that I just wanted to eat and run..😡..took half of my dinner home. Will never return to this restaurant and I will never recommend this place to my friends or my congregations.
This restaurant is outstanding! My wife and I have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. This last time was last Wednesday with their "Buck-a-shuck " oyster day. The "buck-a-shuck" oysters were surprisingly large which was great. The "chincoteague" (sic) oysters were not worth the extra cost. BUT.........the Oyster stew was absolutely the best I have ever had. There had to be six LARGE oysters in it and the flavor was fantastic. That explained the $11.95 charge, and it was well worth it. The recipes I would love to have are Charleston's "Lobster soup with curry oil" and this restaurant's oyster stew. The only thing we found disappointing was the fried oysters. The seasoning in the breading was too highly spicy which took away from any oyster flavor requiring something to temper the palate. In spite if this, this place should be a must go to for everyone.
The dining experience was FANTASTIC! Chris made my wife’s birthday very special and we will never forget it! I’ve been coming to your restaurant for quite a few years and has NEVER disappointed. Please keep it up, there aren’t many places where the managers still visit the tables. Thank you so much! See you soon.
