bluEmber at Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa Ratings and Reviews
We were hoping that since the Omni bought the hotel out that that the food would have changed too. But, unfortunately that was not the case. I wanted to stay on site instead of having to drive to dinner so we thought we would try again. The food lacked taste. There was nothing good to say about any of our meal at all. I would not eat there again for any reason. The service was OK also and we were the only ones in the restaurant when we ate since it was a 5 pm reservation.
Have been there many times before but this time was bad. The food was slow to cime out and when it did it was not hot. Had to be aent back. The bread basket used to be great and they completely changed it and not good. Service was mediocre even though it was almost empty. For a nice location and high prices not worth it.
Monty our server was very friendly and offered great service.
We just had their breakfast buffet twice.
The first time we went there despite our reservation we did have to wait longer than expected. I thought that we would be seated immediately, which was not the case.
The strawberry yoghurt was very fresh. The granola was very good.
There were the following dishes: bacon, potatoes, sausages, french toast, pancakes, scrambled eggs, cereal, oatmeal, granola, yoghurt(very fresh!), some fruit(peeled grapefruit, watermelon were the best), toast, bagels and omelettes.
Blue Ember is known for its brunches; we booked for Father's Day for brunch and were extremely disappointed to find out when we got there, they were not having they're typical extravagant bruch. Instead it was minimal.
Poor communication, poor brunch, poor execution.
We enjoyed the restaurant week menu, although the regular menu also looked good. The best salad was excellent. Great pork chop. Tasty fresh halibut. Fabulous panna cotta. Wines were very well priced with a large selection. Highly recommend this restaurant but definitely ask for outdoor seating.
"Blu Ember" is my usual choice to meet folks for lunch, either for business or pleasure. The Rancho Las Palmas Resort is beautiful any time of the year and the beautiful vistas from Blue Ember across the planted flower beds and golf course are an ideal place for a relaxing meal. The food is always delicious and the service is excellent. You can't go wrong with planning a meal at Blu Ember!
bluEmber is located at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas resort, so if you local to the area, remember your stepping into a "on vacation" mindset from the other guests that you will be sat near. Food was spot on, the Prix Fixe menu offered a very good variety. Service was timely and polite. Both the halibut and Kubota pork chop entrees were prepared very well. I felt the cocktail prices were about $3.00 overpriced but prepared correctly. Not sure if they offer happy hour prices, but something to ask about. Based on the food, I would definitely return. Only con, they sat us near a party of 20 people - half were children under 7. A little too much chaos for a dinner meal.
We live just a few mes from this beautiful spot. Having been there many times last year with great food and terrible service, we took a break from Blu Ember. But it was my wife's birthday and she wanted to go there.
Unfortunately $250. Plus later, we both agreed. The service waste ally improved, all parts of our meal was terribly over cooked and the lovely small bands have been replaced by a solo canned musician.
Sorry!! We were so looking forward to it .
We were celbrating a special birthday and while we found the food to be excellent we found the ambience distracting by all the little kids running to and fro with food plates etc. Parents who didn't and the noise level extreme so we couldn't hear the music. It was very disappointing. Iv'e been there before and had a great time so it was my recommedation for this dinner.
The food and service is just ok but the setting is fabulous and live music makes it special for dinner with a few friends not a large group....set in a family friendly convention hotel looking over a golf course, small lake , and uplit pool with torches, flowers and fire pits , our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable but getting our first drink order was unusually slow so maybe not enough staff?
Best to reserve through Open Table not calling the restaurant directly as they can misplace your reservation but with open table it is in the computer and you get a reminder the day before!
We booked a brunch several days ahead thru open table for 6. When we got there, the hostess denied receiving the booking even though we had electronic confirmation. After a short wait, we were seated Ina lovely outdoor area. We choose to order off the menu instead of the buffet. Apparently your party can only order all breakfasts or all lunch entres which disappointed us as some wanted breakfast and some wanted lunch. We chose to order breakfast. Our server took our order and the food came in a timely manner. We enjoyed our selections and the food was good. The service was not up to par. One of our orders came without the toast and we had to ask 3 times for it. We also had a simple request for ketchup. We again had to ask 3 times and by the time it came, we were almost done our meal. Refreshments refills were also a problem. As we were eating outdoors, tables around us were not being cleared and birds were eating off the empty tables.
Maybe this was just a bad day for service. I would return as the meal was great. Perhaps the service will be better next time.
Too bad Sunday evening dinner service took so long for both courses...drinks were readily available??
The sea bass was over cooked and dried out ....some enjoyed the scallops ..but the seasoning on the scallop dish was not To my taste. Ambience lovely if you get to face out . The live music enjoyable.
Really too bad: Wanted to eat outside but there was singer on the patio that would have been fine if her volume was down 50%. Colliding with that was a wedding very close by with their own music. We ate inside and it was still a little loud. I would definitely call ahead and find out if there were events planned and or the same singer was performing before completing a reservation. Food and the service was excellent.
Patio seating is lovely. Service was friendly. Wine list nicely organized from dry to fruity/sweet. Bread was somewhat dry and not very tempting to nibble on. For the price of the main entrees one would expect a few vegetables on the plate....no, one has to order them separately. Steak was only mediocre with hardly any sauce which made it quite dry to eat. Scallops entre was only ok, nothing special to rave about. The triple chocolate cake tasted like it was a few days old, a complete disappointment for a chocolate connesseur. Would go back for drinks and maybe a salad/snack, definitely not paying prime dollars for an entre. Too many great restaurants in Palm Desert to choose from.
I remember reading an interview with Bruce Springsteen years ago in which he said that even if he was playing in a club with only a few people in it, he always performed as if it was Madison Square Gardens. That's what this meal was like.
I was not excited to be eating at a hotel restaurant, but it was recommended by a friend. It was January 1st. The place was dead. The kitchen should have had its B team on. Or even C team, if there is such a thing.
But the food was great. I had a variation of the classic wedge salad using little heads of little gem, and it came together beautifully. Top notch cheese on that one. My companion's lobster brodo was a revelation. The richness and depth of flavor of a bisque, but in a broth. Poured table side, by the way. I had a pork shank that was as good as any I have ever had, and I love me some pig.
Our server was a sweetheart. My cocktail (a Martinez) was a better rendition than I make at home.
bluEmber set within the beautifully landscaped and immaculate grounds of the Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort is an idyllic spot to enjoy a brunch in the sun! We all ordered their own unique interpretation of "Chilequiles" and they were fantastic! Service was exceptional and the ambiance couldn't have been better!! This was the recent of many visits to this special slice of "Paradise" and we look forward to returning again!
We live this spot! As locals we seek out special restaurants that truly show off the desert culture. Live music most evenings in season makes a wonderful place to dine and then relax outdoors for a special time.
But the best thing is that the food and the service is worth the trip as well. For lunch they offer great light fresh food in a resort environment. Dinner is a super and varied menu with something for everyone. And Valet parking too!!
One of our favorites.
This place had great food, beautiful romantic outdoor setting but service was lacking. Hostess and waitress were not first class for such a nice restaurant. Waitress was annoyed when asked to be seated elsewhere as we did not want to be seated near very large birthday group even though there were plenty of empty tables. Service slow and difficulty seeing food as only had a very dim candle but all in all had a pleasant experience.
Our receptionist did not exhibit the proper appearance for an upscale restaurant. Waitress ignored out table, not refilling glasses or bringing us bread until asked. The entertainment was outstanding. We remained for at least an hour after out meal ws completed in the firepit area.
We were disappointed in general. The chairs in dining room were so wiggly and the cushions need to be redone they were sinking in the middle. The straw blinds were tattered on the ends. Looks like they need a renovation the bar area was quite nice though we didn't sit there and wished we had. Our waiter Oscar was very informed on the food selections and made suggestions. Unfortunately I had a tummy ache after our lunch.
My husband and I had a rare night out and a friend sent us here for a nice romantic dinner! It was the perfect evening! There was a decent wine list with a variety of price points. Plenty of different appetizers to choose from (we had the shrimp/lobster cakes and the tuna tartar - the tuna was a fav!). I had the ribeye. Cooked to perfection and oh so delicious! My husband had the filet and he ate everything on his plate!
If I had written my review after dinner, I would have remembered our servers name...I'm so disappointed I didn't, because he was wonderful. Knowledgeable, friendly and made our evening perfect!!!
Excellent food, professional service -- but so much noise from a "private party" (in the same room in which we were seated) that we couldn't hear each other across the table. The private party included a sound system, speeches and plenty of applause -- not exactly the ambiance we were looking for. When we (and the table next to us) complained to the manager, we received apologies and the promise of our bottle of wine "on the house." We said that wasn't why we were complaining, but that we appreciated the gesture. We were charged full price for the wine. We liked the food so much and our server was excellent -- but we wouldn't go back unless we knew for sure that the dining room was reserved for private dining. A huge disappointment.
