bluEmber at Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa Ratings and Reviews
It was thanksgiving so. One. Would think the place. Would be busy......it wasn't . So, you would
Think they would have plenty of time to wait on their guests..... They didn't . we were there two and a half hours for our lunch! The wait staff seemed under trained and the whole experience was one I would not like to repeat.
Fabulous atmosphere, good but not exceptional food, server was polite but didn’t have the first clue about wine, yet pretended he did. If you don’t have a clue, just find someone who does. Don’t tell me that the rose is both dry and sweet. When I request a pairing recommendation for the crab cake don’t tell me “probably a red.” Crab cake itself was great but the spicy aioli was more sweet than spicy. Same too sweet mayo overwhelmed my tuna poke - just too much of it. Frisée mushroom salad had fresh ingredients but again dressing too sweet. I dunno. It wasn’t bad food, I just expected a lot more based on reviews. Fabulous setting though.
Menu is too small, worst service ever! We have come here for 9 years on the Fourth of July and sadly not much has changed. No salad option with protein. Server had no personality, was not cordial, did not even introduce himself. I wanted to leave but kids were hungry. The menu has very little options, salmon was not cooked so ate around edges that were done. Overpriced for both size, flavor, options, and service. No wonder it was so empty. Save ourselves next time and dine across the street.
We went for Fathers Day brunch. The food was mediocre and much to expensive for what we got. The scrambled eggs were rubbery.
The bacon was excellent. I don't eat sausage, buy my husband, who loves sausage, only ate a portion. He said the sausage wasn't good.
Extremely disappointed, and we'll never go back.
Initial service was a little slow. We didn't seem to be noticed by wait staff for what seemed like too long. But after our first contact with our waiter, we received much better attention. The kids buffet was very nice. The kids could eat at their leisure. Overall the food was good, and the outdoor seating was nice. It was a handy option since we were staying at the resort.
Food was decent -- once it arrived. First entree arrived alone without explanation (delivered by kitchen runner) other entree arrived more than 10 minutes later.
By our own choice we sat outdoors but had to be moved after 20 minutes of fighting off the flies. We counted 10 on the table at one point. Server explained that it was because it's "hot outside." I didn't bother explaining that we eat alfresco all the time at other restaurants without experiencing such a problem.
Indoors was slightly better --fewer flies -- but poor acoustics made it almost impossible to carry on a conversation.
As previously stated the food was good but the overall experience was greatly disappointing.
We have loved going to this restaurant for dinners periodically throughout the last 20 years. We reserved a table for 2 for brunch on Easter Sunday this year and were very disappointed. The food was wonderful and the restaurant is beautiful but the service was almost non existent. We were served a drink and then after 15 minutes or so we flagged down a waiter to find out if there was a menu or if we should just go ahead and find where the food was and serve ourselves. The food was excellent. We were never asked if we wanted another drink and then when we asked for the bill, an 18% gratuity was figured into the amount charged. We won't be recommending the bluEmber to anyone for brunch.
Poor service. Great ambiance. Come to Palm Springs often. This is the 2nd time in a row we have been so disappointed with the service. Took 20 minutes to get a server, and they weren't very busy. Poor management! So if you like waiting 20 minutes for a server, then another 10 to get your drink - this is your place!
The evening was quite pleasant except for the overpowering lounge singer act that commenced about 9 pm and literally overpowered the pleasant experience of chatting with friends after our meal.
Service was excellent and food was quite acceptable.
The guitarist featured on the patio at start of evening was quite pleasant but lounge act was not. Multiple parties exited the restaurant patio once lounge act commenced due to overloud vocals and piano.
I planned the dinner to celebrate a birthday for a friend. When the 3 of us arrived at the hostess station we were greeted by the hostess, she told me to wait one minute and walked away. Not a good start to the evening. She was clearing a table that was located directly next to the band. I went over and asked if it was possible to be seated further away from the band, explaining that we wanted to be able to talk. The hostess seemed annoyed by my request and reluctantly, but without acknowledging my request move to clear another table.
While the table was being cleaned by the hostess I was going to walk to the edge of the patio to look out at the grounds and was told that our table was almost ready! As if it would take hours to find us and there were crowds of people, we were the only people waiting and it was not more than 10 feet from the table. Strange and not very inviting a greeting.
The food server was unfriendly and rushed, visited the table infrequently, water and cocktails not checked. The Salmon dish was not fresh, the risotto was under cooked, when the server brought the dish to the table he announced, here are your mash potatoes. Not good.... The birthday girl requested a side of cream to add to her pasta dish when she placed here order and that came halfway through our meal. There were a few of the sides that we really enjoyed. I wound not go back or recommend for dinner, maybe for drinks and a snack.
We stayed at the Omni for 4 nights so had the pleasure of experienced BluEmber for a few things..first off was our one dinner experience-not good. We were seated and it took our waitress about 20 minutes to notice us-she was busy chatting with some people at another table. It then took another 20 minutes to get our drink order. In fact I think our meals came before we had a glass of wine which was ridiculous. The dinner food was just average-avoid the crispy brussel sprouts, way too greasy. Breakfast, on the other hand, was delightful every morning! he staff were the friendliest, most attentive, just really great people to see first thing in the morning! The breakfast menu is awesome-so many great options...egg white farm ommlettes, smoked salmon toast, avocado toast, scrambled egg bowls...all really yummy! Finally, our bar experience...I was traveling with my almost 22 year old daughter...we had been to the gym and stopped in the bar to pick up a glass of process on our way back to our room to get ready for dinner. The bartender asked if she was 21, my daughter said yes, then the bartender proceeded to give an attitude like we were lying. She then asked for ID which of course my daughter didn't have as we had just come from the gym. She insisted my daughter go back to our room to get her ID (which she did) and as soon as my daughter walked out the door to get it, she turns to me and says "oh wait-tell her to come back..." like it was some kind of test. I found the whole thing absolutely ridiculous-this isn't a night club-we weren't ordering shots and there was NOONE in the bar-she was just a bartender on a power trip so beware and have your ID on you at all times!
Delicious warm soft rolls, with two types of butter served with them! We devoured them quickly. Great kids buffet, which our boys enjoyed. We really enjoyed the Brussels sprouts, deviled eggs and bacon wrapped figs. The cocktails were a little watery, but the list and descriptions were awesome. Delicious coconut cake - that was thoughtfully brought to us by our attentive server for our anniversary. Thanks for the great dinner!
