View Private Dining DetailsOver the years, I have dined at Blu Ember many times. Normally, it has been very good. But it seems much has changed at this Omni property. The hostesses seemed very inexperienced. The normally great music was poor; very poor. Off key.....flat! Poor quality musicians. The atmosphere seemed like one was dining in a day care. Children in pool attire were running and playing between tables. Guests were dressed as of just coming from the beach (ball caps and sleeveless tee shirts). Not a great experience when there are so many wonderful dining options.
We love dining at BluEmber during Spring Break. It’s so beautiful and the outdoor patio is lovely. Oscar was a great server. We will be back!
The service was so mediocre- too bad because the atmosphere, tiki lights and fireplaces are lovely. And it’s a 5-star property!
The food was ok- but the service...we had to ask for really simple things (and wait and wait) like a wine glass and a bread plate that should have been part of the original table setting. Overdone salmon for one of the guests but they quickly fixed that. Kids (after dark) running around and squealing. Just too bad.
Our waiter Marcos was the best we’ve ever had!
Beautiful spot to sit outdoors, enjoy the views, and have a great meal. Enjoyed the menu and what I ordered specifically. But the appetizer was much larger than I anticipated so the Brussels sprouts made almost a complete meal.
We make a point to stop in at the BluEmber for drinks while in the Palm Desert area. This time we had dinner and it was very good. The service was excellent. I only wish the heaters were working that evening as it got very cool that night. After dinner we did move over and sat by the fire and listen to the music with a after dinner drink. Very romantic.
Great food & excellent service. Braised short rib is delicious, as was the pork tenderloin!
Absolutely terrible service
Saturday night dinner. Although 30% of the tables were available, service was sloppy. Food was really good and the ambiance just ‘ok’ -they need to put candles or something on the table to give more light.... you could barely see your food!!
I wish I could write a positive review of this place but I just can't. We went there for a New Year's day celebration with friends. We thought we'd get there early and have a drink since we were off and it was a beautiful day....NOPE, they turn the bar into a buffet breakfast situation??? (They remove the bar stools and set Fruit Loops out on the bar...and btw, no one was partaking in that event) I'd love to know whose bright idea that was. We decided to sit down outside and order a drink but after 25 minutes, NO ONE came over. The folks next to us said it took 35 minutes before they received service. So, our friends arrived and we sat down. Again, it took at least 10 minutes to even have a server to appear? We ordered and I wish that the food was good...it was both. We had the fish tacos, the fish was great, but that all you pretty much get with some dry slaw....maybe some flavor/ a little sauce would help??? We ordered the hummus platter. The pitas, celery, carrots, all good BUT it came with a tiny (2'' x 2'') plate of hummus. Not enough for even 4 little pitas??? They did a great Brussels sprouts dish, I have to give them credit for that. Anyway, this place could be good, even really good but it seems like it's a top up problem. They had about a quarter of the staff needed and really need to tweak the menu to make it work. We never saw a server after things were served (we were missing place settings. It's a beautiful setting, I hope they can get it together.
It was delightful
Food was great, even services. Waiter and front desk were greeting us with smiles as well. Our family had wonderful dinner. We had a little issue with hotel but by ember solved all well. Thank you again with wonderful treat. :)
We were very disappointed with the hostess who claimed the restaurant was "booked" at 4h30pm, while some tables were still available on Open Table. One of the hostess was pretty aggressive and did not want to make any effort to accommodate us. The other hostess (taller with longer hair) was more accommodating. Food was good. Service was ok.
Our Christmas Eve dinner at the Blue Ember, with a group of family and friends, was superb!! Amanda at the bar crafted delicious cocktails and was so delightful.. as she always is. Our dinner server, Ben, is always so efficient and personable. His smile is the best and his customer service skills are exemplary. Kudos to the chef as well! All 9 of us thoroughly enjoyed a variety of delicious meals!
We took our family from back East to bluEmber for Christmas Eve dinner. We’d been before and dined outside in a more casual environment, but this time opted for the more formal dining experience of an indoor seating. In sum, our experience was a disappointment. 1. The food was mediocre, though the roasted chicken entree got the most positive reviews (two diners ordered it). 2. The atmosphere was not conducive to a family gathering (too much ambient noice prevented cross-table conversation). 3. The service was the best part (attentive without being intrusive). Of course, bluEmber is part of a resort hotel, so perhaps to exepect “finer” dining is a bit of a stretch. And for a casual dinner by one of the many fire pits that dot the patio, it is “fine.” But there are other options in the desert that better suit those looking for an upscale experience for families on special occasions.
I checked in when I arrived and told the hostess I had a 6:30 reservation via Open Table. They said my son and his wife were in the lounge. We stayed there for a few minutes then came back to the hostess to be seated. It was a different person that sat us. We had a nice dinner. We lived in Rancho Las Palmas for many years and dined at the hotel often. I’m disappointed that the decor is so barren these days but I guess that’s what the younger generation likes. To me it looks like there was a very low budget for decor. Later when I checked my points it said we didn’t show up. I’m happy that it has been corrected but unhappy that I had to call the hotel and send emails to Open Table.
The atmosphere (patio) was delightful, the food delicious and well presented. Unfortunately, the service was short of what I expected. It took a very long time fro them to bring our beverages (non-alcoholic) and to take our orders. The food then came in a timely manner, but afterwards it was hard to find a waiter for further needs, and after we finished, we waited an overly long time for our bills to come. Too bad for such nice food and atmosphere!
Absolutely love this place. Sitting outside, having lunch, is just the best. Best location in the desert. The food was great. Service was great . We were celebrating a birthday so they brought a n incredible birthday dessert. It was such a nice surprise.
Good Lunch. Limited menu but enough choices. Good Quality Food.
Went there twice in a row - food and service were outstanding!
It was thanksgiving so. One. Would think the place. Would be busy......it wasn't . So, you would
Think they would have plenty of time to wait on their guests..... They didn't . we were there two and a half hours for our lunch! The wait staff seemed under trained and the whole experience was one I would not like to repeat.
We loved it - such a beautiful spot! Great setting and decent food. We will return.
Fabulous atmosphere, good but not exceptional food, server was polite but didn’t have the first clue about wine, yet pretended he did. If you don’t have a clue, just find someone who does. Don’t tell me that the rose is both dry and sweet. When I request a pairing recommendation for the crab cake don’t tell me “probably a red.” Crab cake itself was great but the spicy aioli was more sweet than spicy. Same too sweet mayo overwhelmed my tuna poke - just too much of it. Frisée mushroom salad had fresh ingredients but again dressing too sweet. I dunno. It wasn’t bad food, I just expected a lot more based on reviews. Fabulous setting though.
Great food and service. Very attentive to servicing customers. Limited main course options but all portions were properly sized and satisfying.
The Blu Ember is fantastic! Food, service and ambiance were all fabulous. Beautiful patio with georgous views. The chocolate cake was a perfect ending to delicious dinner. We will definitely be back.
Went when it first opened wasn’t impressed, now it’s wonderful!!
Our server "Oscar" was great...did not hover, but was there when we needed him. Beautiful outdoor seating.
Service was a little lackluster, food was good but not spectacular.
Great staff and food
I requested gluten free options and was told what I ordered was gluten free (per the chef) but I still got extremely sick from the meal.
Menu is too small, worst service ever! We have come here for 9 years on the Fourth of July and sadly not much has changed. No salad option with protein. Server had no personality, was not cordial, did not even introduce himself. I wanted to leave but kids were hungry. The menu has very little options, salmon was not cooked so ate around edges that were done. Overpriced for both size, flavor, options, and service. No wonder it was so empty. Save ourselves next time and dine across the street.
I asked to change tables as there was a screaming toddler close by. Our server was Manny who was wonderful. I will definitely request him the next time I'm there.
We went for Fathers Day brunch. The food was mediocre and much to expensive for what we got. The scrambled eggs were rubbery.
The bacon was excellent. I don't eat sausage, buy my husband, who loves sausage, only ate a portion. He said the sausage wasn't good.
Extremely disappointed, and we'll never go back.
The service was wonderful and the food was excellent.
Initial service was a little slow. We didn't seem to be noticed by wait staff for what seemed like too long. But after our first contact with our waiter, we received much better attention. The kids buffet was very nice. The kids could eat at their leisure. Overall the food was good, and the outdoor seating was nice. It was a handy option since we were staying at the resort.
Food was pretty good, but we went on a weekend and the love music in the beautiful patio area was deafening - sat indoors which was fine, but certainly not as nice as outside.
Food was decent -- once it arrived. First entree arrived alone without explanation (delivered by kitchen runner) other entree arrived more than 10 minutes later.
By our own choice we sat outdoors but had to be moved after 20 minutes of fighting off the flies. We counted 10 on the table at one point. Server explained that it was because it's "hot outside." I didn't bother explaining that we eat alfresco all the time at other restaurants without experiencing such a problem.
Indoors was slightly better --fewer flies -- but poor acoustics made it almost impossible to carry on a conversation.
As previously stated the food was good but the overall experience was greatly disappointing.
Nice area, great weather. food was mediocre.
They had a kids buffet which I tried a bite from my sons food and I don't know how he was able to eat it. I guess kids are a little bit more understanding when it comes to food
Overall experience was nice. It was quiet and relaxing and didn't feel rushed. The brunch option was fair....nothing special and I wouldn't order brunch again there for the price. I would order off main menu and get a sandwich.
Disappointed in food, pub food quality, box to fryer type. Old pomegranate seeds on many items.
