With Sushi so common in the bay area now - it is good to have a high end sushi restaurant that shows creative choices, has unusual selections and creative fusion options, and isn't just like every other sushi place.
We always have great food here. When we feel like really good sushi we always go here. It could be a little pricey but I think it’s worth it. The service can be a little slow, but we did come on a Friday night and the restaurant was full. Their cocktails are great and I like how they have others options, whiskey, sake, beers. Whenever we want a treat we would always think of going here.
Did not honor the reservation. We arrived at the reserved time, saw an open table, but it was given to someone without a reservation who had arrived 5 minutes before us. Was asked to wait 30 minutes or sit at the bar. What’s the point of OpenTable again?
Reserved table at 7pm (they require credit card for Valentine’s Day), and was told to wait 20 minutes. After 20 minutes we were asked if we could sit in the bar area. We said yes as we were already behind schedule. So we essentially reserved a table for special occasion and ended up in bar area where Ambiance and service were both down a notch. Food turned out to be bland as well. Just the same as an average sushi place, just double the price.
Love the baked salmon roll!
The blue-fin tuna was melt-in-your-mouth amazing. All the rolls were delicious. Get there before 6pm to save some money on the happy hour specials, they're all good.
Restaurant wasn't busy at all on a Monday night, yet the service was still kind of slow. We had to work hard to place our orders.
All in all, though, a good experience, and amazing food.
Great sushi. Very disappointed with the asparagus pepper special. Had only 1 complete spear in entire dish
Sashimi was fresh and tasty. Service very good. Easy walk to SAP Center.
The roll was cold, the rice was dried
We really enjoyed our dinner at BlueFin. The fish was fresh and tasty. They have an amazing happy hour which I highly recommend taking advantage of.
Pre Sharks game
Food was yummy. They were busy but the service was still quick and friendly.
Excellent sushi selection but slower than usual and usually they are pretty slow. Server was right there but food prep takes a very long time.
Made a reservation for Friday night, we had a girls get-together after years of not seeing each other and we had the best time. The service was great, the food was equally as good, we stayed until nearly closing and the servers remained super attentive. Happy Hour prices were great - the drinks were strong. All in all I will definitely return because it wan't super crowded, they have TVs and it's a great place to go out.
Great all around
Excellent menu. Quite a good variety for all. We had sashimi and nigiri. It was fresh and delicious!
They have a great happy hour before Sharks games. A must for Hockey fans.
The quality of the fish here is outstanding. In fact, all the food is amazing. The staff is consistently amateurish, however. And while I love the quality of the food, I don’t make this a regular spot because the service is maddening. Appetizers come out way after everything else, beverage service is spotty, and menu items that are not available are not explained until after your order has been placed. If you want awesome food and don’t care about service, go! I still do, but with lowered expectations.
We go to Bluefin a couple times a year for celebrations. We went tonight to celebrate our 1-year anniversary of our marriage. The ambiance was different than what we were used to. There was a football game playing on the wall in the dining room. I think that is more appropriate for the bar area and took away from the special dining experience. Most of the food was to our expectations except the whole reason we were there: the sushi. We ordered the Rainbow roll and it just fell apart. We noticed the sushi chef looking at a menu a lot like he was using it to figure out what went into the rolls. Overall, we were not as impresses this time around. We will probably try something different for our next celebration.
Service was really slow and I found a bone in a piece of nigiri (not supposed to be there for those not familiar...). Restaurant tried to make it up with a free desert - we chose the chocolate soufflé - however it came out burnt on the bottom... would have really wanted to like the place, but ended up leaving disappointed.
