Blue Wave Bar and Grill Ratings and Reviews
It was my birthday, and the server, Justine, was very attentive. The food: roast beef and pork chop were very tasty. When the sun went down, most of the people on the outdoor patio, moved inside. It can cool off in the evenings. We are water drinkers, so we can't tell you about the other drinks. Justine kept an eye on the water levels, and was always there to top it off. The scenery over looking the marina is great, with a beautiful sunset. I would highly recommend it.
Our waitresses, on all three nights we ate at Blue Wave, were awesome! So friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome! The food was phenomenal! Fresh baked bread, fresh seafood, great IPA's and to die for desserts! The Ciopino was outstanding! Did I mention the view of the Marina? Just made our experience amazing!
Although we had a reservation, there was no attendant so we seated ourselves.
The crab cake ordered as a appetizer was not very "crabby". There appeared to be lots of bread and little crab in the cake. It was quite tasteless.
My linguine with clam sauce was tasty but afterwards had gastric distress.
Our evening was memorable in an uncomfortable way. Will not be going back to dine there in a hurry.
However, the bar service and beer was fine.
We ate an early birthday celebration dinner. We had a window seat and the view was great. It was also very quiet. I had the scallops and my husband had the pork chops; both were excellent! Service was also good, but not intrusive. We would come again and highly recommend the Blue Wave.
While the food was very good the service was very poor. We waited quite some time just for our drinks and refills took too long as well. We ordered appetizers which took so long we finished all the bread (which we waited for too) and were just sitting and talking until they finally arrived. We were celebrating our son's birthday, which I indicated in our reservation but no mention was made during the meal nor was it acknowledged at all during our visit. We did notice that other tables that were served by the same wait person also waited quite a while for their service too.
We have eaten at Blue Wave on several occasions and I have to say this was the worst experience.
Disappointing. Disturbingly noisy uncontrolled children. Long wait for food. Excellent waitress though. Restaurant was freezing cold and staff did little to fix it. No paper towels in bathroom. Part of Best Western hotel. With so many other restaurants to choose from, why bother with this one?
We were staying at the Island Palms hotel over 4th of July holiday to watch the fireworks. The best ever fireworks. Since they close the Shelter Island to traffic we thought we would eat at the hotel before the show. I ordered the scallops and my hubby the special fish for the night. Both were delicious. Our server was excellent too. Would come back again.
We wanted to find a place to eat before our concert at Humphrey's when we found this place online. We decided to take a chance as we could make a reservation and it was close to our venue. We had a wonderful dinner on their back patio with views of the harbor. It was low key and relaxing. Our wait staff was aware of our timing and did everything to insure we were taken care of in plenty of time for the performance. In fact we both commented how good she was with her attention to us. (There, but not overly there.) It was just a very nice experience overall. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
Lovely spot with nice views and wonderful service- a little disappointed in the food for the price; bland side dishes and the steak wasn't the best. My husband had the halibut special and it was not very flavorful- just " average" tasting, in his words. The bread as appetizer was pretty bad- just "cheap, store bought rolls" really; Don't think I'd repeat, but maybe...loved the hotel.
It is a hotel restaurant and it shows; not too vibrant and a bit subdued on the decor. The food was OK. But the service really caught my eye, with wet towels just like in business class flights. They had great champagne and waiting staff too, responded to every wish in style, no funny faces or unneeded questions. Add this to a nice view of the marina and you won't regret the occasion.
