Blue Water Grill Ratings and Reviews
Seafood version of a classic Cobb salad: generous seafood mix, delicious dressing and just the right amount. I also appreciated that they asked me if I wanted bread instead of just plopping it on the table. Makes it SO much easier to resist that little carb devil when those breads are not there staring at you.
Outstanding dinner tonight. Boys loved the oysters. Shared the whole striped bass. Cauliflower and broccoli tasted like candy. Had banana tower and peach pie for dessert. Everything was delicious. Restaurant was packed to the rafters and ambiance was joyful. Thank you Open Table for the reward.
Blue Water Grill was a very enjoyable experience. From the minute we stepped inside, we knew we had made the right choice for a pre-holiday get together. The staff at the front desk was attentive & helpful. The dining room is large & beautifully lit. Our waitress was excellent. The food & wine we had was delicious. We left vowing to return again soon.
I have dined at the Blue Water Grill many times and the food has always been quite good and the service has been very gracious. This time there were 2 glitches - my order was not taken correctly, and I was brought the wrong entree. I had to wait for the sever to bring the dish I ordered. Then when I ordered coffee, the cup was chipped, which I had to point out to the server. I hope that these were just just flukes. Our party did enjoy our meal and the food was very good.
The restaurant was very crowded as it was a Friday night in the Christmas season. Our table was not available for our 7:15 reservation so we had to wait a bit. The reception seemed a bit overwhelmed. Once we were seated the service was fine and the food was very good.
Very disappointed in the quality of the food. The eggs benedict was served with thick bacon that was inedible, and the eggs were hard, not runny. The same goes for the Croque madame. The torte lunch portion was very small, and the waiter did not know the correct answers to questions about sauces and other menu items. A nice atmosphere but very noisy. We will find another restaurant from now on when we are in the Union Square area.
We had short rib rice bowl it was great! The bread was yummy too.
The only draw back was we were seated next to stairs going up to second floor- it’s not great to have feet in your face while you’re eating even though they had a low plexiglass wall. The wall wasn’t enough.
Had a reservation for 4 at 8pm on Saturday night. We arrived early, and waited at the bar for our table. I had to go back to the hostess three times asking about the status of our table..this was frustrating as we were not a large party that should be difficult to seat. On the third time, I expressed my frustration as we had been waiting in the bar well over an hour past our reservation time. I guess the manager (a very tall lady in a red dress) overheard and stepped in to say our table was being set up now and I should return to the bar. A few minutes later the manager retrieved my party from the bar and said, dripping with sarcasm, "would you LOVELY people follow me?" This was incredibly condescending and rude. We were nothing but patient the entire time we waited and did not deserve this.
When we finally got the table, we found the menu selection to be sparse and overpriced. I got 8 little lobster tortellini for $37. Service at the table was fine and we were comped a few drinks on the bill for our long wait. My main issue is with the hostess and the condescending manager. She ruined the entire experience and I had to apologize to my guests that I had chosen this restaurant. We will not return.
This was the worst dining experience. I had taken my mother there for her birthday last night. We had a 745 reservation and arrived 15 minutes early. They instructed us our table would be ready shortly and to sit at the bar. We watched party after party come in and sit down. I checked with the hostess who insisted our table was being set. Then she sat three more parties. 30 minutes later an hour after we arrived we were sat but not without an attitude from the hostess. We ordered around 845 and we were starving. At 930 our waiter, who was very apologetic explained our food ticket had been lost but I food would be out shortly. Food arrived right around 945. Dinner was fine but the treatment of the hostess overshadowed the entire experience. I felt almost depressed for my mother when we left, as it was apparent that a middle class mother and daughter in our jcrew sweaters and Canada goose coats were NOT WELCOME on a Saturday night. Unless you manage a hedge fund or want to be treated like a third class citizen, skip.
Wonderful experience! We had two young children with us for a special holiday dinner with their grandmother, and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. The food was delicious, perfectly timed and portioned. Afterwards, we all checked out the live jazz downstairs while the adults finished their wine. Lovely evening!
As usual our experience at Blue Water was 'the best!" We got there a little early but were seated promptly. The wait staff were very attentive and helpful. The food and craft drinks were excellent. We always come back to this place when we visit. We have never been disappointed. We have our favorites (sea bass) and sword fish) on the menu but we tried the special for two and it was extraordinary. We highly recommend this spot to everyone for a great experience.
Our waiter, Ricky was amazing. He was attentive without being overbearing and suggested wonderful pairings. The food, of course was also a standout. The chef clearly takes pride in not just the taste but the overall presentation of the food making for a truly memorable experience. There were lots of diners when we went to eat so the noise level was moderate but not at all at a level where it was disruptive. It has been awhile since I had dined here and it is as good, if not better than I remembered. Order the beet salad - it is playful, inventive and sooo very delicious!!!
My husband & I and our 2 sons stayed in the city overnight. We wanted to have a great dinner in a family friendly environment with sights to see nearby. We were more than pleased with the dinner menu & our food!
Plus we got to shop & enjoy the lights with
all the vendors at Union Square across the street!
The food, as always, was outstanding... fresh and tasty with remarkable presentation. Servers were friendly, on par yet the (bus boy) needs to know to ask whether a diner is finished with his/her plate regardless if there is food or not still sitting on the dish. Menu choices tasted even better than they were described! Try the crispy cauliflower (outrageously delicious) and potato/smoked trout, heirloom beets (great selection), all very delicious. Dinner was seared scallops/ tasty, swordfish- excellent, salmon-, farfalle, and chirashi. All notable in their own ways; with accompanying touches of surprise. Dessert- Banana Nutella tower, AWESOME; cheesecake, lemon blueberry pie. One issue, a decaf coffee came warm and when asked for a top off, the waitress had a snarky comment regarding she watched the coffee be prepared... as if we were lying about it arriving lukewarm. THAT made us think second thoughts on the tip but was dismissed since everything else was pretty much fine. OH, except when the special dessert pie was being described, we didn't need to hear it was yesterdays Thanksgiving leftover. But, all in all, food was outstanding. Will return.
