Blue Water Grill Ratings and Reviews
All food was good for this delayed Valentine's day brunch, service was moderately attentive but not super. All was pleasant and enjoyable UNTIL a visit to the bathroom. It smelled...bad, really bad as If there'd been s sewer backup. So what could have been a really nice experience ended on a smelly note. We'll be back...stuff happens as they say😁
The restaurant is lovely but our experience was lousy. 9:00 on Saturday night with restaurant half full, we were seated at a table close to kitchen. The noise from bus help cleaning up dishes was so distracting and loud, we had to request a different table. We were then moved to table by waiters station. When asked about being seated upstairs, we were told that it was closed, yet there were obviously guests dining there. Beet & cauliflower appetizers, as well as Chilean sea bass were average. Salmon with vegetables was tasteless.
We booked this place for a Valentine’s Dinner under two conditions: seafood and the ambience. The ambience certainly delivered, though it would’ve been nice to have the jazz band playing on the top floors or some romantic music playing at all. The food was mediocre. I got the small-sized blue crab farfalle, while my boyfriend got one of the specials. Service was really slow - not sure if our server was new or he was intentionally ignoring us; we were constantly looking for his attention. However one thing that Blue Water Grill does right is that they don’t take the plates away until all parties are done eating.
This was my first time, on Valentine's day none the less which in NYC tends to be a disaster for diners. The food was spectacular, simple and clean. The ambiance is perfect and this is truly a must try when it comes to NYC dining. It is easy to see why they have been open for so long. 5 stars for sure.
What a night. Perfect for Valentine’s Day. They had a special menu. A wonderful start with Mumm’s champagne. We had crispy cauliflower with a tahini sauce on the side, crab with pasta in a truffle cream sauce, seared scallops. For dessert a chocolate mouse with coffee gelato and a lemon, blue berry, tart in a graham cracker crust. Everyone was very gracious. Our server, Alina, was excellent.
Well this was a personal and business lunch. I had the Union Square Roll and my friend, not a seafood buffet had a sausage bowl. Service was very good, but the roll was served without chopsticks, soy sauce and green sauce. This was remedied on request, after asking. Sound level was conducive to conversation. Generally a very good experience, and highly recommended.
Overall great experience, if i had to call out something was service was a bit slow, the place wasn’t at capacity so either staffing was limited or kitchen wasn’t turning over food quick enough. Again nit picking but also compared to my previous visits it was very slow. I definitely recommend.
Always had great food and service at Bluewater where I dine approx 4-5 times a year . My last meal there was a major disappoint ( and embarrassment as I had sung it’s praises to my visiting friends). I hope this was a one off and not a taste of things to come
Restaurant already known and tried in the past of which I had a great memory, unfortunately, the recent experience really disappointed me, I did not expect to be treated like a fast food rather than a fine restaurant.
Despite having booked, our table was not ready and there was some confusion in the room, so we asked if we could have dinner downstairs where live jazz was scheduled for the evening.
The service was really insufficient, rude and not up to a renowned restaurant in New York: we waited a long time before they came to take the order, the girl was rude and not at all professional, we solicited the wine ordered that he was brought to the table even after the starters had arrived.
Even after finishing dinner but still having the bottle of wine to finish and glasses full, the waiter started to take away everything, including full glasses! To which we asked if we were unwanted customers, since they were throwing us out.
In all this we didn't could enjoy food, the appetizers would have deserved a mention, even if the amount of the fish board were too little for two people, while the salmon and the saint jacques were badly prepared dishes, too soggy the consistency of both with a non-fresh flavor.
Very very disappointed, I will never go back, even because the bill was really high
Disappointing except for the wine. The simple seafood- fresh oysters were also good. But the hamachi in the roll was not fresh and the chef seems to believe that everything is better with figs. Service was fine as soon as it was evident we were going to run up a bill.
The downstairs room is really lovely. All of our courses were delicious and generally we had a great experience- the only reason I reduced my rating was because our waiter forgot to set our table / give us items we had ordered (e.g. dinner rolls for the table surroundings tables had but not us, wine I had ordered, or sugar and milk for my boyfriend’s espresso.) I would like to return and dine upstairs next time.
