I meet a longtime friend of my late husband at BWG when I return to NYC. It was my husbands favorite restaurant as he loved the jazz bar.
We had a great time!
We have been going to Bluewater Grill at least 12 years. I made the mistake of asking to be seated upstairs. When we sat down the radiator was blowing cold air.I will give them credit for folding table cloths and bringing them over to place over the cold air. But things went downhill from there. After we finished our salad,It took a very long time to get our entrées.We had to ask about when the entrées would come. We saw four people who arrived after us get their entré yet ours still did not come.Unfortunately we appear to have gotten caught in a shift change. Our original waitress said she was off but another waiter would be taking care of us.After more than 30 minutes the two entrées did arrive. One of them was not warm. When you get a defective entrée you have two bad choices.Live with it or send it back and ruin the whole feel of the meal. We chose to live with it and later discovered that we would be penalized for that decision. We asked to see the manager about all the problems we had. She told us that she would be glad to send us some desserts. But when the check arrived one dessert was comped and the other wasn't. When we asked about that there was nothing gracious in the response by the manager. In fact the manager said something derogatory
about our not allowing them to warm up the cold entrée. It is an example of low quality service where the manager is more interested in proving they are right than in making you feel good about your experience at their establishment. It was a very unpleasant evening and for a pretty simple meal it took over two hours.
Fantastic service! Food was great!
Our waiter Vittorio was excellent!!!! He greeted us warmly and promptly took our drink order. He thrilled us with his rendition, from memory, of the dining choices for the evening. We told him we had tickets for a 7pm movie and he told us not to worry that he would have us out with time to spare. He did. A great dining experience, the service, and the ambiance was terrific.
Wonderful brunch menu. Fabulous service, and we were allowed to linger — we spent 3 1/2 hours there! Split entrees with a friend - the Croque Madame and the shrimp/lobster roll were fabulous. Had a side order of thickly sliced bacon — YUM!!
Excellent as always. I haven't been for a few years and I was pleased to see that the quality of food, service and wine had not gone down. Raw bar was especially fresh. Main dishes were excellent. Service was prompt, attentive and friendly
I took my friend here for her Birthday; it was just an amazing experience! Waiter, food, drinks were all FANTASTIC. And it is VERY romantic!!! Beautiful place and wonderful atmosphere. I loved it and so did my friend. Lobster Bisque is to die for. Bread was delicious and the King Crab Legs were the best I've ever had.
The only tasty dish was butter!!! Nothing else. Very disappointed. Will not come back and tell our friends to think twice before going there.
Our server Alessandra was the best. She was very knowledgeable and attentive. The food was fabulous as well.
Enjoyed the food. Sitting area was cramped
once a great place best food good portions now too fusion artsy food look pretty but MINUTE portions beat salad was a joke but tasty my seafood past with black pasta pasta was salty like soaked in sea water small portion of seafood little pasta and told waitress we had to make a show she rushed order etc but when we finished meal and wanted desert we could not find her.
and to top it all its very expensive
gone are the days of old when it was superb This chain has closed 3 restaurants the past few years.
It is one of my favorite go to places in NYC. Consistently good food and nice service. Cozy atmosphere and not too loud. I have been back many times.
Good food, interesting menu. A bit pricey, but enjoyed it very much.
Celebrated an early birthday dinner. The service was excellent and the food was outstanding. Would highly recommend it for a special dinner.
We were six people and all of us came out less than thrilled with the food. Some said the food was average while others thought we were being fed frozen Chilean sea bass. Ambience was nice and service was good. But I looked like an idiot as I’d invited my friends claiming this was the best fish place in Manhattan. On that night it was nowhere close.
We had a fun and delicious experience. Thank you.
The food was great the service magnificent and the atmosphere fabulous!!!!!!!!!!
Look forward to every visit. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. Looking forward to our next dinner!
Joanna, our server was excellent. I brought my mom for a special night out and she loved the ambience and the food. Thanks
All food was good for this delayed Valentine's day brunch, service was moderately attentive but not super. All was pleasant and enjoyable UNTIL a visit to the bathroom. It smelled...bad, really bad as If there'd been s sewer backup. So what could have been a really nice experience ended on a smelly note. We'll be back...stuff happens as they say😁
The restaurant is lovely but our experience was lousy. 9:00 on Saturday night with restaurant half full, we were seated at a table close to kitchen. The noise from bus help cleaning up dishes was so distracting and loud, we had to request a different table. We were then moved to table by waiters station. When asked about being seated upstairs, we were told that it was closed, yet there were obviously guests dining there. Beet & cauliflower appetizers, as well as Chilean sea bass were average. Salmon with vegetables was tasteless.
We booked this place for a Valentine’s Dinner under two conditions: seafood and the ambience. The ambience certainly delivered, though it would’ve been nice to have the jazz band playing on the top floors or some romantic music playing at all. The food was mediocre. I got the small-sized blue crab farfalle, while my boyfriend got one of the specials. Service was really slow - not sure if our server was new or he was intentionally ignoring us; we were constantly looking for his attention. However one thing that Blue Water Grill does right is that they don’t take the plates away until all parties are done eating.
Overall good experience. Atmosphere is nice, the food is overpriced and small portions.
Good place for drinks and some appetizers..
The restaurant is great. The service was excellent. The food was delicious . The environment was good. Me and my date really enjoyed the place.
Great food and an even better server, hunter was awesome and engaging with my family. I would highly recommend this restaurant for the quality of food and level of service
Brunch with friends. Gorgeous ambiance. Okay food. Okay service. Expensive for what it is.
Celebrate Valentine’s Day with my wife.
We had a great Valentine’s Day dinner here. Service was great and the food was delicious. We chose a couple appetizers off their special Valentine’s Day menu and it was perfectly themed. We would absolutely come here again.
For the price, the food left much to be desired. The Chilean sea bass was basically fish in teriyaki sauce. The star of the evening was the lamb lollipops. For a tab of roughly $200, much better food can be had elsewhere.
This was my first time, on Valentine's day none the less which in NYC tends to be a disaster for diners. The food was spectacular, simple and clean. The ambiance is perfect and this is truly a must try when it comes to NYC dining. It is easy to see why they have been open for so long. 5 stars for sure.
The absolute best Sea Bass ever...ever. Fine service, good martinis and great wine. What’s not to like with your Valentine of 30 years?
What a night. Perfect for Valentine’s Day. They had a special menu. A wonderful start with Mumm’s champagne. We had crispy cauliflower with a tahini sauce on the side, crab with pasta in a truffle cream sauce, seared scallops. For dessert a chocolate mouse with coffee gelato and a lemon, blue berry, tart in a graham cracker crust. Everyone was very gracious. Our server, Alina, was excellent.
The food was rich in texture and taste I've ordered the Black sea Bass meal which was good especially the sweet potato ravioli and mushrooms but the only issue was the wait
Well this was a personal and business lunch. I had the Union Square Roll and my friend, not a seafood buffet had a sausage bowl. Service was very good, but the roll was served without chopsticks, soy sauce and green sauce. This was remedied on request, after asking. Sound level was conducive to conversation. Generally a very good experience, and highly recommended.
Overall great experience, if i had to call out something was service was a bit slow, the place wasn’t at capacity so either staffing was limited or kitchen wasn’t turning over food quick enough. Again nit picking but also compared to my previous visits it was very slow. I definitely recommend.
Excellent food and service. Very pleasant atmosphere - not too loud, tables not too close together. I will go back. Even with all those virtues, it's overpriced. But a good place.
