Blue Water Cafe Ratings and Reviews
Over - rated: Seafood was fresh yet underwhelming. Ling cod with salsa over engineered. While oysters great, even appetizers (seafood sampler) we disappointing. Perhaps our expectations were too high - yet no matter how you look at the value/taste for the prices was not there.
Amazing! Got the sablefish and scallops as well as the halibut tataki and some oysters. Everything was fantastic! Our waitress was very helpful and friendly as well. If I lived nearby I would definitely eat here often, but we were only visiting from the US. Highly recommend!
We were visiting Vancouver for our first time ever, read about Blue Water Cafe in a local magazine and decided to try it. Our server, Chris, was genuinely warm and welcoming and helped guide us to our selections with his expert knowledge of the menu. Our superb, unhurried dining experience featured the best local seafood and produce and was simply spectacular, particularly the sturgeon with the beets and cauliflower. My wife and I decided over dessert to return the following evening, and Chris made our reservations for us. We also asked him to create a tasting menu for us, and told him that we were placing the entire menu in his capable hands. The following evening was truly memorable! Chris had thought creatively about each course and had consulted the sommelier to ensure that the wine pairing was perfect. From the first few raw bar selections to the wonderful soup to the split entrees of sablefish and halibut to a perfect light dessert, the food and presentation were nothing short of spectacular! We savoured every bite, wanting to lick our plates clean. Chris's service was simply amazing: attentive, engaged, friendly and supremely knowledgeable. We could not have been happier, and we're grateful for all that he did to make our culinary journey in Vancouver so memorable. Thank you, Chris, and thank you Blue Water Cafe!
My daughter and I were visiting Vancouver for the first time and Blue Water Cafe was highly recommended by a friend. Everything about the evening was lovely! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was spectacular. I am looking forward to visiting Canada again in the future. I live in Alabama and my daughter lives in Tennessee.
We were in Vancouver recently for three nights. Blue Water was our best dining experience by far. Our table was almost ready when we arrived so we sat at the bar for a few minutes and enjoyed talking to the bartender from Melbourne, Australia. For dinner we started with local oysters that were fabulous, followed by excellent sashimi. They have a wonderful wine list that goes well with seafood. The restaurant hummed like a well-oiled machine, but all the staff we came in contact with were knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly. It was a memorable evening in every respect and one we will return to on our next visit to Vancouver.
Had the Oysters.
So fresh! The King crab roll, and mixed seafood ceviche! All excellent!
My hubby had the Kobe Short Ribs, undeniably the best piece of beef we've tried! So tasty!! Highly recommend this restaurant for people who love seafood or just foodies in general!! 5 stars! Wine was great too! Lots of selection and price points!
Food was exceptional! Creative, but scrumptious! All four of us enjoyed every course. Harvey, our server, was attentive & provided excellent service. It's very noisy, but we could still converse without yelling. Would highly recommend & go again if ever back in Vancouver.
This is mainly a seafood restaraunt serving the freshest catch of the Pacific NW & also has a sushi bar (although we did not avail ourselves of this option). We found the food to be fresh, as expected, well prepared & well served. My wife & I split a beet salad, crusty bread & a selection of BC oysters, truffle frites along with a conservative (cost-wise considering the choices available on the wine list) bottle of dry white wine & a Kir Royal aperitif -all delectable. My only criticism is, that in my opinion, the tab was excessive @ $145 Canadian before tip- a lot even accounting for the excellent quality & the Canadian/US exchange rate. Ambiance of restaraunt & even the bathrooms were very nice.
Dined here while vacationing in Vancouver. The raw seafood was spectacular and the freshest. However, the preparation and quality of the cooked entrees were top notch. Detail was given to each ingredient. Vegetables used exploded with flavor so there was no doubt they were sought out for their quality and freshness and were lovingly prepared to showcase them. Service staff was knowledgeable and attentive. I would highly recommend.
We had a wonderful dining experience at Blue Water! We took many of the recommendations from our server and each course was great. We tried a selection of fresh oysters, the special sushi roll of the day, 4 different seafood entrees including the lobster, and a dessert. We also had cocktails and local wine. We were very impressed by the unique and delicious flavors of each dish. The atmosphere of the restaurant was comfortable and not too loud for conversation despite all tables being full. We were also impressed by the extremely nice restrooms! We would highly recommend Blue Water!
