Blue Water Cafe
The striking dining room provides active views of the “East meets West” kitchen and Raw Bar. The sweeping main bar leads out to the heated patio and the private dining rooms, which hold our deep and diverse wine collection.
Housed in a handsome brick and beam heritage warehouse conversion, Blue Water Cafe is in the heart of the historic and vibrant Yaletown neighbourhood.
Please note: online reservations are available for parties of up to 12 guests. For larger parties, please call. Reservations are not required for seats at our bar.
Had a great night with an awesome meal and fantastic service. We're loving Vancouver!
Amazing amazing amazing!!!
The evening started off poorly. We arrived early for our reservation and waiting over 20 minutes from our reservation time while people that arrived after us were seated before us. They ordered a bottle of wine while we waited, confused the order and over charged us, and would not remove the charge. Our waiter was great but when we spoke to the wine manager and the restaurant manager they were less than helpful. The food was very good but I was very disappointed overall. I was so looking forward for this dinner and am still upset about how the evening went.
La comida deliciosa pero un poco le tos en el servicio
Brilliant sturgeon main and a shared tasting fish starter, totally recommend both. Can sit outside enjoying yaletown and brilliant service with constant top offs of bread between courses - you won't leave hungry
An awesome and exciting experience!!
Must to do Inn Vancouver!
We were there with friends from Sonoma who are pretty blaze about restaurants and they were delighted with the whole experience. They said it was one of the best restaurant experiences they had ever had. Pretty high standard. Thanks for the delightful evening.
Celebrating 60 years of life!
Great food. Service and espwine service was excellent.
Staff was very kind, attentive and wonderful！
Especially the seafood tower and sushi roll he recommended was wonderful and enjoyed with friends.
Very good seafood. Nice ambiance and a very big choice of wine. We loved it.
We had fantastic service during our whole dinner. Good suggestions, prompt delivery, she had en eye on everything, great. The oysterlist contained 21 named different oysters with despriptions. Only six were available but that was good enough. We even hade one which was not on the list, Sunseeker från BC, small but incredibly full, mellow and tasty with medium saltiness. The other food was on par, delicious.
Great service. Food prepared perfectly with great sauce. Sushi absolutely fresh and delicious.
We had our usual table 35 and our regular server,Melissa.Everything was first class as the three of us all enjoyed our meals. We all had fish and it was prepared very well.I started with my carrot soup and it was delicious. We will see you again soon
Blue Water Cafe always has such outstanding services that it cannot be described by words. It is a pleasure to dine here.
The covered patio is vey nice as is the modern large dining room and full bar. The seafood and ambiance are amazing. We had the whole Sea Bass as well as the shrimp and crab salad. Our only drawback was that we found the portions to be a bit small. Recommended for fresh seafood, prawns and oysters.
Seafood dishes were the highlights. Spotted prawn bisque was way too salty, was able to only stomach half of it.
A great find in Vancouver, especially for visitors looking for a top notch seafood restaurant.
Great food, atmosphere and service! The quality is wonderful.
Jennifer was an enthusiastic server who appears to love her job. This is a rare thing. She was excited about the menu and her charisma and energy were infectious.
Short ribs had great flavour but a little heavy.
Sushi roll was great.
Food was excellent. However, the best part of our experience was our outstanding server, Tara. She was amazing. Knowledgeable, friendly, polite, fun. She made the birthday dinner extra special.
Everything was great!! Oysters ,crab roll sushi was outstanding!! Highly recommended! Servers are fantastic too!!
Excellent as always. Great service and great food.
The menu was inventive and the food was great. It was served so hot that other restaurants should be ashamed. We thoroughly enjoyed our food and our waiter. I highly recommend Blue Water.
I ate at this restaurant last summer while on a business trip and it was incredible so when I was back in Vancouver with my family I insisted that we make a reservation. We were not disappointed! The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. My brother wanted a shrimp dish but there wasn't one on the menu and all we had to do was ask and our server immediately said they could turn it into a starter.
We dined at Blue Water Cafe during our visit to Vancouver in 2015. The dinner was so memorable that we booked a table right away once we had decided to visit Vancouver again over the Canada Day long weekend. This time we were bringing my seafood lover mom with us. We were quite disappointed to find that uni was no longer being served as it was the main reason we wanted to dine at Blue Water Cafe again. The uni we had last time was divine. One of the best we had ever tried! Nevertheless, we had a wonderful and satisfying dinner once again! My mom was first upset with me for not bringing her to a Chinese restaurant for fresh seafood. “Western restaurants cannot cook fish right. I am going to order shrimps,” She said. I told my mom to trust me and ordered her Blue Water Cafe’s featured dish - the Sablefish. My daughter had the Sablefish last time and we both were amazed by the taste and melt-in-the-mouth texture of the fish. My daughter and I tried the special menu of the day. My daughter ordered the halibut and I ordered the blackened kanpachi. We enjoyed our dishes but the spotlight of the night was still the sablefish. My mom was so impressed with her fish that she could not stop bragging about how fresh and delectable it was to her friends right after the meal on WhatsApp. Blue Water Cafe has definitely changed her view on western fine dining. We ordered 2 dozens of fresh oysters as appetizers. They were sweet and tender. We also ordered the dungeness crab egg roll. It was delicious and we could taste the sweetness of the crab meat lingering in our mouths. Service was friendly and meticulous! We are sure looking forward to another unforgettable dinner at Blue Water Cafe next time we visit Vancouver again. We used the Open Table dining cheque towards our bill with no issue.
Delicious food. The surprise Happy Anniversary card and dessert was a lovely touch. Will visit again, and will recommend to friends and family for a special occasion meal.
This was our first time at Blue Water Cafe, and it did not disappoint. The seafood was incredibly fresh and the service amazing. We will return.
Average - one time was plenty
Don't go here if you're on a tight budget, but having just been I have no regrets about visiting this place. Excellent food, friendly and extremely attentive service, and a great overall atmosphere.
Absolutely first class seafood. Our server was great, very efficient.
Delicious fresh seafood, creative Sushi. Outstanding
One word, Amazing !!
We love everything about Blue Water! The food is amazing, the service is attentive, but not intrusive, and the ambiance is modern and vibrant. Love the open kitchen; chefs are serious, focused, and never frazzled. We had the King Crab roll to start. I had the Halibut and my wife had the scallops; awesome! Dessert was Creme Brûlée and Mago/Pineapple cheesecake which were both decadent. For my money, hands-down the best seafood restaurant in Vancouver! You will not be disappointed!
Outstanding meal provided by excellent friendly service.
Spectacular service, excellent food, and a wine selection that can't be beat.
Went here for our honeymoon dinner. Let me start by saying, my wife and I are not wealthy people. We've splurged at some fine establishments in LA, Toronto, and Montreal, but looking over the wine menu here caused a bit of sticker shock at first.
The food was generally reasonably priced for fine dinning, especially considering portion size and quality. Being a seafood restuarant, you might not expect them to also have spectaular steak. We asked about the waygu and were surprised to learn they had A5 grade direct from Japan. We ended up order a 6 oz portion and the sablefish for main courses to split. To start we ordered the pork shoulder, and the crab and pron salad. Everything was fantastic!
As the night got later and about chilly, our server even brought out a pashmina for my wife to use to take the chill off.
At the end of the meal we were very satisfied.
If price is no object, why not? That being said, I think you could have a world class meal here even on a budget if you forgo the wine.
Apps were in the $20 and mains were mostly 30-50.
The only reason I can't give 5 stars is because I did feel a bit of pressure by our server to spend more than I wanted to, particularly when it came to the wine, and there were really no reasonably priced wines on the menu.
Great dinner! I loved our server Jennifer who was super enthusiastic and attentive. The food was delicious and well presented .
While vacationing in Vancouver we selected Blue Water and were very pleased. We had oysters that were served beautifully and icy cold . I ordered halibut which was served with fiddlehead ferns . Dessert was fantastic , chocolate panna cotta and raspberry sorbet.
