Blue Water Cafe
The striking dining room provides active views of the “East meets West” kitchen and Raw Bar. The sweeping main bar leads out to the heated patio and the private dining rooms, which hold our deep and diverse wine collection.
Housed in a handsome brick and beam heritage warehouse conversion, Blue Water Cafe is in the heart of the historic and vibrant Yaletown neighbourhood.
Please note: online reservations are available for parties of up to 12 guests. For larger parties, please call. Reservations are not required for seats at our bar.
The seafood is a must-have. It felt like any seafood is good there. I’d say the sablefish is amazing! You can’t begin to fathom the awesomeness of the sablefish until you get a feel of the texture of the fish. It literally felt like heaven is here as I had my first bite of it. They have such a wide selection of oysters and the server was quite knowledgeable and made good recommendations depending on our requested taste. The ribs were also very tender and juicy and were a good portion to fill you up pretty well!
Exceptional service and delicious food. Not cheap, but great experience from start to finish.
Best seafood place and nicely complemented with sushi bar that in itself is exquisite. All fish dishes are done to perfection, service is always outstanding and every one is very friendly. We look forward to our monthly fine dining visits to this restaurant.
Have always enjoyed going to this restaurant. It is lively and a bit noisy if you are there for a quiet dinner conversation. Food is absolutely fantastic! A bit pricey but well worth it in the end. Can't wait to come back.
Our server was excellent.
always a treat and top of my list of restaurants to go to..
Had a dinner date to celebrate a milestone (neither of us had been to Blue Water before) and we had a fabulous night! Awesome service (can't believe how fast the drinks and oysters arrived) and the food and drinks where amazing!
First visit to Blue Water. Service was A++. Food was A++. We will make Blue Water Cafe a regular stop each time we visit Vancouver.
Been coming for years, always a favorite for us when we visit Vancouver.
Restroom was dirty, dispenser out of soap
Blue Water Cafe was recommended to me by one of my colleagues so my brother and I decided to check it out on a Saturday around 5:30pm. The place was pretty empty but by 6:30pm it was packed. Our waiter, Roddy, was kind, attentive and knew the menu quite well. Every recommendation he made we took and it was well worth it. The ambiance is nice and the food was delicious. My brother got the oysters, which he loved. He also got a sushi roll and after eating two bites he went to the bar area where the chefs were preparing the food and gave him a standing ovation. It was weird but he said the food was that good! I got the sea bass with potatoes and broccolini. It was phenomenal! I would definitely suggest this restaurant!
Fantastic service, great food, perfect ambience for date night.
The food: amazing.
One of my favorite restaurant in Vancouver! Seafood is always super fresh and always the best service!
Excellent evening. Great food and service. Lovely ambience.
Thank you Melissa for setting up the candle for me ..... Excellent service and friendly environment.
Never forget Rookie's (?) friendly smile.
Merry X 'mas to all staff in Blue Water.
Blue water never disappoints. We are from Washington State. Every trip we make to Vancouver we dine at Blue Water. Have always had great food, great service and love the atmosphere.
Food and service was excellent! It was a busy Saturday though and it was very noisy making conversation difficult.
Great evening celebrating our anniversary.
It was a great experience. The food was outstanding. I recommend sablefish.
Always a great experience at Blue Water!
As always, an incredible dining experience!!
And thank you for accommodating our special request. :)
Amazing meal and overall experience. Stephan, the restaurant director and his team never disappoint!
Whereas the service was very pleasant, the food was average and the ‘ambience’ less than desirable. The sablefish was completely overcooked and the vegetables and sauce were without taste. The restaurant had a very strong smell of old frying oil, which combined with a cold draught did not make for a nice combination.
Highlight of our weekend in Vancouver ! The sablefish was awesome as was the sea urchin and sashimi of halibut. Great wines as well and so was the service.
Ciera was our server tonight. A delightful and knowledgeable young lady. She is a delight.
What also was truly amazing was our server from last years occasion remembered us. She came over to the table to say hello.
Tara remembered our first and last names and some of our food likes.
The food was as magnificent as our service.
Excellent seafood experience. All is as advertised. Outstanding wine selections.
It was a great place to start conversation about Vancouver and restaurants
Always impressed by the food and atmosphere.
Amazing experience from start to finish. My partner and I were celebrating our birthdays and it was immediately acknowledged by the staff. The Host at the door took our jackets and promptly seated us at a lovely table. Our Server, Tara, was extremely knowledgable, professional and charming. Cocktails were inspired and well-balanced. Our starter of halibut tataki was fresh and bright, delicate yet flavourful. I had the featured halibut enteee and my partner had the sable fish, both were absolutely delicious. Our accompaniment of seared scallops with citrus butter were cooked to perfection, and possibly some of the best I've ever had. This place has the experience recipe dialed. Can't wait to return!
Muy muy rico. Sablefish excelente. Muy amables. Falta buena música.
Generally very pleasant evening. The service was prompt and friendly. My service complaint is the server did not give any prices for the specials. Since we were taking out friends for a Birthday dinner we didn't want to appear cheap by asking prices however I ordered something that was very expensive because I didn't know the price - it wasn't worth it. Not all of us have limitless budgets and this was a special treat so the restaurant being sensitive to people's dining budget by full disclosure would be courteous and better customer service.
The food was excellent although my partner's halibut was overcooked.
My last complaint was that the room was cold. They sat us in the room next to the wine cellar and I had worn a short sleeved dress with a thin cardigan as I assumed the restaurant would be warm. I was wrong. I left the restaurant very chilled. The larger (main) room appeared to be better heated. I would recommend you don't sit here in the winter unless you are warmly dressed.
The one draw back was the “music” that pounded away in the background. Surely a restaurant that produceces excellent food, has a well thought out wine list and a well trained staff can provide
better music that plays softly instead of tuneless music that plays with the base pounding.
